Trump administration bans new Chinese humanoid robots

The Trump administration on Tuesday announced a ban on new foreign-made humanoid robot imports to the US over "unacceptable risks" to America's national security. The move applies to advanced robots - including humanoid and four-legged machines. Many of them are made in China, which is competing with the US to develop robotics and artificial intelligence (AI).The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) also banned imports of power inverters - devices used in data centres and solar panels - which it said could also pose a risk to the US economy. The Chinese embassy in Washington said Beijing has long opposed the US' "politicising" of trade issues and sanctions based on "groundless pretexts".

Trump Warns Iran After US Base Attack

Washington: US President Donald Trump has issued a strong warning to Iran after it launched multiple ballistic missiles toward American forces stationed in the Middle East. The attack has sharply escalated tensions between Washington and Tehran, raising concerns about a wider regional conflict. Speaking in a phone interview with Fox News following the overnight missile strike, Trump vowed a forceful response if American troops or interests were threatened. Using unusually blunt language, he said Iran would face severe consequences for its actions and warned that the United States was prepared to respond with overwhelming military strength. The missile attack has prompted heightened security measures at US military bases across the region, while officials continue to assess the extent of the damage. No immediate details on casualties were released. The latest exchange marks another dangerous escalation in relations between the two countries, with global leaders closely monitoring developments amid fears that further retaliation could destabilize the Middle East.

Green Card Relief for H-1Bs

The Renewing Immigration Provisions of the Immigration Act of 1929 would allow immigrants who have been living in the US for at least seven years to apply for lawful permanent resident status.

Washington: California Senator Alex Padilla has renewed his push for legislation aimed at creating a pathway to Green Cards for millions of longterm residents in the United States. Padilla said Congress can no longer ignore immigrants who have spent years contributing to the nation’s economy and communities. He argued that many long-term residents, including skilled workers, have built their lives in the US but continue to face uncertainty over their immigration status.

The proposed reform seeks to modernize existing immigration rules and provide permanent residency opportunities for eligible individuals who have maintained deep ties to the country. Padilla emphasized that recognizing these residents would strengthen communities and support the US economy.

Supporters of the proposal say the measure could provide relief to thousands of immigrants facing lengthy Green Card backlogs, especially those on employmentbased visas. The bill is expected to face debate in Congress as lawmakers continue discussions over the future of the US immigration system.

Netanyahu to Visit New York Despite Mamdani’s Arrest Call

New York: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said he will proceed with his planned visit to New York despite calls from Zohran Mamdani urging authorities to arrest him. The controversy has intensified political debate ahead of Netanyahu’s trip to the city.

Mamdani, a New York politician, has criticized Netanyahu’s policies and called for legal action against him. Netanyahu’s supporters, however, rejected the demand and defended his right to travel and participate in diplomatic engagements.

The dispute comes amid ongoing tensions over Israel’s actions and growing political divisions in the US over Middle East issues.

Trump administration to end Medicare premium subsidy program

The Trump administration is planning to end a Medicare premium subsidy program that helps reduce healthcare costs for millions of eligible beneficiaries. The move could increase out-ofpocket expenses for some seniors who currently receive financial assistance

with their Medicare-related premiums.

Administration officials argue that the change is aimed at reducing federal spending and reviewing government healthcare programs for long-term sustainability. Critics, however, warn that ending the subsidy could place additional financial pressure on older Americans, especially those living on fixed incomes.

Healthcare advocates say higher premiums may force some seniors to make difficult choices between medical care, medications, and other essential expenses. The proposed change is expected to face debate among lawmakers, with supporters and opponents weighing the impact on Medicare recipients across the country. Further details and implementation timelines are expected as the administration moves forward with the policy review.

Fauci Declines Questions at Covid Hearing

Washington: Former top US health official Anthony Fauci declined to answer several questions during a US Senate hearing examining the origins of Covid-19. Fauci invoked his legal rights when questioned on certain issues related to the pandemic. Lawmakers were seeking clarification on the government's response and research linked to the virus. His refusal drew criticism from some senators, while supporters said he was acting on legal advice. The hearing is part of an ongoing effort to investigate the origins of Covid-19 and the handling of the pandemic. The debate continues as lawmakers seek more transparency about decisions made during the global health crisis.

600+ US Troops Injured in Iran War

At least 624 US military service members have been wounded since President Donald Trump ordered strikes against Iran in February, according to the Pentagon's most recent update on 25 July.

Among those wounded, 417 are attributed to Operation Epic Fury, while 207 are attributed to "Overseas Operations".

The US and Iran agreed to a ceasefire in April and signed a Memorandum of Understanding in June, but attacks from both sides have occurred throughout.

Bihar Cop Suspended Over AK-47 Use

A Bihar constable has been suspended after a video showed him using an AK-47 during a protest-related situation, sparking controversy. The incident has raised questions over police conduct and handling of public demonstrations. An inquiry into the matter is expected to follow.

China’s Stealth Edge Worries India

China’s growing fleet of stealth fighters near the Indian border has raised fresh concerns over the widening air power gap between the two Asian neighbours. Satellite images indicate increased deployment of Beijing’s advanced J-20 stealth jets at bases facing India.

China has stepped up deployment of its J-20

“Mighty Dragon” stealth fighters at airbases close to India. Satellite imagery from late June and early July shows 11 J-20 jets stationed at two key locations. Seven aircraft were spotted at Hotan airbase in Xinjiang, located close to eastern Ladakh, while four were seen

airbase in Tibet near the Arunachal Pradesh sector. Defence experts say the deployment suggests China is making high-altitude stealth

operations along the Himalayan frontier a routine capability.

The J-20’s advanced stealth design gives it a major advantage in contested airspace by reducing radar detection. India currently has no operational stealth fighter, while its indigenous Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) is still years away from entering service.

China has rapidly expanded J-20 production, with estimates suggesting hundreds of aircraft are already in service. Experts say Beijing’s success comes from a long-term defence manufacturing strategy and a strong aerospace supply chain.

India currently relies on 36 Rafale fighters, Sukhoi-30MKIs, Mirage 2000s and MiG-29s for frontline air defence. New Delhi is working on expanding fighter strength, but closing the stealth technology gap remains a major challenge.

Khamenei’s Son Urges Hezbollah Action Against US, Israel

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei has reaffirmed Tehran’s strong support for Lebanon’s Hezbollah, calling the group’s defence a “strategic mandate” for Iran. In a message to Hezbollah chief Sheikh Naim Qassem and its fighters, Khamenei said there was “no path forward except jihad and resistance” against the United States and Israel. His remarks came after Hezbollah expressed loyalty to Iran’s Islamic Republic. Khamenei praised the group’s fighters, describing their resistance against Israel as an inspiration for supporters of the movement worldwide. He also honoured former Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, who was killed in US-Israeli strikes, saying sacrifices had strengthened the organisation. The statement signals Iran’s continued backing of Hezbollah and highlights rising tensions between Tehran, Washington and Israel amid ongoing regional conflicts.

The Iranian leader came in response to a Hezbollah letter pledging allegiance to Iran's Islamic Republic. He alleged there "remains no path forward except jihad and resistance" against the United States and Israel.

CJP Threatens Fresh Protests Over FIRs

New Delhi: The Cockroach Janta Party, or CJP, has warned of another protest, as early as tomorrow, over what it calls a "breach of agreement" regarding no police action against protesters detained in weeks of rallies nationwide. The Abhijeet Dipke-led movement that began as satire, taking its name from an insult, called off its 37-day protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi in "good faith" over the weekend after Dharmendra Pradhan resigned as Education Minister, one of the group's main demands.

US-Iran Pause Strikes for Talks

President Donald Trump has paused attacks on Iran for the third night in a row to give diplomacy more time, the US ambassador to the UN said. Speaking to Fox News on Sunday, ambassador Mike Waltz said the president was "giving talks some space, he's giving it a little bit of room".

An Iranian army spokesperson said on Sunday that Tehran had halted "retaliatory" attacks in the region in response. The pause follows nearly two weeks of daily US strikes and tit-for-tat attacks, effectively unravelling the ceasefire struck in June.

U.S. Issues Record 79,000 Deportation Orders in June

Immigration courts issued nearly 79,000 removal orders in June, the highest monthly total on record as enforcement continues to intensify.

The United States recorded a historic surge in immigration enforcement in June 2026, with immigration courts issuing 78,882 removal (deportation) orders—the highest monthly total ever, according to data released by Syracuse University's Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse (TRAC).

The sharp increase highlights the Trump administration's intensified immigration crackdown. Monthly removal orders had averaged around 50,000 during the early months of President Donald Trump's second term before climbing to nearly 60,000 in March, April, and May. June saw that figure jump dramatically to almost 79,000, setting a new record.

TRAC's report also showed that immigration courts completed more than 100,000 cases during June, with removal orders accounting for nearly 78 percent of all case closures. The figures reflect the administration's continued focus on speeding up immigration court proceedings and expanding enforcement against individuals found to be in the country without legal authorization. Immigration advocates have raised concerns over the rapid pace of deportation proceedings, arguing that many migrants may face limited access to legal representation. Supporters of the policy, however, say stronger enforcement is essential to secure the nation's borders and uphold U.S. immigration laws.

BJP MPs Give Grand Welcome to Dharmendra Pradhan, Congress Protests

BJP lawmakers welcomed Union Minister Dharmendra

Parliament, celebrating his return to the House after recent

The welcome ceremony drew criticism from the Congress, which accused the ruling party of focusing on political symbolism instead of addressing key public issues. Congress leaders questioned the BJP’s approach and demanded greater attention to matters affecting citizens.

The exchange highlighted the continuing political rivalry between the BJP and Congress, with both parties using Parliament proceedings to strengthen their positions ahead of upcoming electoral battles.

Canada Seizes Drugs Worth $139 Million, Indian-Origin Truck Drivers Arrested

New Delhi: Several Indian-origin truck drivers have been arrested after Canadian authorities dismantled a major crossborder drug trafficking network operating between Canada and the United States. Officials seized nearly 1.7 tonnes of illegal drugs valued at approximately $139 million, making it one of the largest drug seizures in a single investigation in Ontario's history.

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) said the operation, codenamed Project Bay, was launched in January 2025 to target drug smuggling linked to the international border. The months-long investigation uncovered an organized network allegedly using commercial transport trucks to move large quantities of narcotics across the border. Authorities recovered suspected cocaine, methamphetamine

and opium during coordinated enforcement actions. Investigators believe the trafficking ring relied on legitimate trucking routes to conceal and transport illegal drugs into Canada.

Several suspects were taken into custody, including truck drivers of Indian origin. However, officials have not released details about their identities or immigration status.

Canadian authorities described the crackdown as a major victory against organized crime and said investigations remain ongoing to identify additional members of the trafficking network. They added that cross-border cooperation between Canadian and U.S. law enforcement agencies played a crucial role in dismantling the operation.

"Third Time Is Better": Donald Trump Wears "2028" At Press Gala Rerun

Washington: US President Donald Trump returned to the rescheduled White House Correspondents’ Dinner, where he criticized the media, mocked political opponents and joked about serving another term in office. The event was delayed after an alleged assassination attempt disrupted the original gathering three months earlier. Trump began his speech by reflecting on the attack, saying “the show must go on,”

to the soldiers who laid down their lives in the 1999 Kargil War. He said their courage and sacrifice remain an enduring source of inspiration for every Indian and praised the ongoing Shaurya Vijay Yatra for keeping their legacy alive.

Emphasising environmental responsibility, the Prime Minister urged citizens to actively support the Catch the Rain campaign by protecting local water bodies and conserving every drop of water for future generations.

First US City Could Run Out Of Water, A Warning For The World

A coastal city in Texas with more than 300,000 residents is facing a severe water shortage and could become the first modern US city to run out of water.

A major U.S. city is facing a water crisis so severe that it could become the first modern American city to run out of water. Corpus Christi, Texas, a coastal city with more than 300,000 residents, is struggling with declining water supplies due to years of drought, rising demand and delays in developing new sources of water.

but soon shifted to his familiar campaignstyle remarks, accusing journalists of bias and attacking what he called “fake news media.” The president sparked attention by mentioning a possible third term, which is prohibited under the US Constitution. While saying he was joking, Trump later held up a “Trump 2028” cap and teased the audience about another presidential run.

The city’s shortage has been intensified by rapid industrial growth. Large petrochemical facilities in the region require massive amounts of water, adding further pressure on supplies already strained by extreme weather conditions and climate-related challenges. Officials have warned that without immediate action, Corpus Christi could face serious restrictions on water use in the coming years. The city has been exploring solutions, including new desalination projects, conservation measures and expanded water infrastructure to secure long-term supplies.

Ranbir Kapoor Exits Dhoom 4, YRF Plans New Lead

Ranbir Kapoor was all set to take the Dhoom franchise forward. The actor was expected to play the antagonist in Dhoom 4. However, it appears that the discussions have now fizzled out. According to reliable sources, Ranbir Kapoor has decided to opt out of the film.

“Dhoom 4 was initially set to be helmed by Ayan Mukerji, but after War 2, Aditya Chopra decided against entrusting the project to the filmmaker. However, Ranbir

remained a part of the film and was awaiting clarity from Aditya Chopra,” a source told.

After several rounds of discussions, Ranbir decided to part ways with the Dhoom franchise. “Ranbir is no longer doing Dhoom 4. He has started meeting writers and directors to explore other subjects. He was not convinced by the script, which led to this decision and shocked everyone.

While Dhoom is one of India’s biggest franchises, for Ranbir, the story has always come before everything else.”

However, trade sources offered a different perspective on the project's status. "The script for Dhoom 4 is still being developed. No casting has been decided at this stage," claimed trade multiple sources.

While the studio has maintained that no casting decisions have been finalised, sources close to the development insist that Ranbir Kapoor is no longer associated with the project and that YRF will eventually have to look at other casting options once the script is locked. Salk President Gerald Joyce informed faculty of

Panda’s resignation in an internal email reviewed by Science. The development comes eight years after another prominent Salk scientist, Inder Verma, resigned following an investigation into sexual harassment allegations, which he also denied.

Panda, a globally recognized researcher known for his work on circadian rhythms, light sensing and intermittent fasting, told colleagues he plans to write a book on how advances in circadian biology could improve human health.

In a statement, Panda said he was “deeply committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, and professional environment” and denied all allegations.

The investigation was launched after a research assistant in Panda’s laboratory raised workplace concerns earlier this year. Salk confirmed it commissioned an independent inquiry after receiving the complaint.

Pakistani Man Among 10 Facing U.S. Citizenship Loss

NEW YORK, NY -The Trump administration has launched denaturalization proceedings against 10 naturalized U.S. citizens, including a Pakistanborn man accused of using multiple identities to obtain immigration benefits, in what officials described as the largest citizenship revocation initiative in U.S. history. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Department of Justice (DOJ) said the cases, filed over the past 30 days, involve individuals accused of unlawfully obtaining U.S. citizenship through fraud, concealment of material facts, or willful misrepresentation.

According to the agencies, the allegations include child sexual abuse, healthcare fraud, identity fraud, wire fraud, immigration fraud, and cocaine trafficking. Among those named is 65-year-old Murtaza Ali, a Pakistan native. The government alleges that Ali submitted multiple immigration applications under different identities before obtaining lawful permanent resident status and later becoming a U.S. citizen in 2009 under the name "Muhammad Iqbal." Federal investigators said fingerprint analysis linked the various identities to the same individual. Authorities said Ali pleaded guilty in 2014 to making false material statements to a U.S. agency after admitting he had submitted three immigration benefit applications using three different identities. On July 14, the U.S. government filed a four-count civil denaturalization complaint in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas, alleging that Ali obtained citizenship through immigration fraud, provided false testimony during the naturalization process, concealed material facts, and committed unlawful acts that adversely reflected on his moral character.

Mayor Mamdani

Refuses

Pay Raise Approved by City Council

NEW YORK, NY- New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani has announced that he will decline the salary increase included in a pay raise package recently approved by the New York City Council. Mamdani said raising the mayor's salary is not a priority for New Yorkers. The legislation approved by the City Council provides an 18% pay raise for council members and includes a corresponding salary increase for the mayor. Despite the measure covering his own position, Mamdani said he will not accept the additional compensation.

Indian Researcher Shares Career Journey After Two Visa Rejections

CHICAGO, IL -An Indian researcher working at Tesla has shared how two unsuccessful attempts to obtain a U.S. student visa motivated him to strengthen his academic credentials before eventually achieving his goal of studying and working in the United States.

Mayank Vadaliya, now a Tesla engineer and doctoral researcher in Information Technology at the University of the Cumberlands, said he is currently in the U.S. on an F-1 student visa with work authorization through Curricular Practical Training (CPT), which is valid until 2028. If he meets the eligibility requirements, Tesla may later sponsor him for an H-1B or O-1 visa.

Vadaliya’s doctoral research focuses on real-time traffic prediction. He has developed an open-source Python framework that combines convolutional neural networks, long short-term memory (LSTM)

networks, and gradient-boosted models to forecast urban traffic congestion. According to him, the system reduced prediction errors by more than 30 percent compared with using each model individually on the METR-LA freeway sensor benchmark. He said the framework is designed

to integrate with cloud and edge infrastructure, including systems used under India’s Smart Cities Mission.

Reflecting on his journey, Vadaliya said he first applied for an F-1 visa in 2015 after completing school, hoping to pursue a bachelor's degree at Montana State University. His

Indian Researcher’s Journey from Visa Rejections to Tesla Engineer Highlights Persistence, Innovation and Academic Excellence

application was rejected, and a second attempt the following year was also denied.

Following the setbacks, he enrolled at Gujarat Technological University, completed his undergraduate degree, and focused on building a stronger academic profile before applying again. “After my two refusals, I stopped trying to win over the officer in the moment and started building a profile that speaks for itself,” he said.

Vadaliya finally secured a U.S. student visa in 2020 and went on to earn a master’s degree in computer science from Cleveland State University before joining Tesla. He credits persistence, preparation, and confidence for ultimately helping him achieve his goal.

HinduPACT Appeals for Return of California's Diwali Holiday

SAN RAMON, CA — HinduPACT today expressed deep concern over a California court ruling that struck down portions of the state's recently enacted Diwali holiday law, less than a year after California formally recognized the festival.

The legislation marked an important step in acknowledging the religious and cultural traditions of Hindu, Jain, Sikh, and Buddhist communities across the state. It allowed eligible state employees to use paid leave to observe Diwali and gave public schools and community colleges the option to close in observance of the festival.

For many Hindu families, the ruling represents more than a legal setback. It undermines a hard-won measure of equal recognition and sends a troubling message to a community that has long sought the same dignity and religious accommodation afforded to other faith traditions.

"Diwali is one of the most sacred and widely observed festivals for Hindus, and its recognition in California affirmed that American Hindus are an integral part of the state's social and cultural fabric," said Ajay Shah, Founder and Chair of HinduPACT. "This ruling is deeply disappointing because it weakens a meaningful step toward fairness, inclusion, and religious accommodation. HinduPACT will work with community leaders, legal experts, lawmakers, and allied organizations to help restore these protections and ensure that Hindu voices are heard."

HinduPACT emphasized that the law did not establish a universal paid state holiday. Instead, it permitted eligible state employees to use paid leave to observe Diwali and authorized public schools and community colleges to close for the festival at their discretion.

The organization said it will continue to monitor the legal proceedings, support appropriate legislative and legal remedies, and work with policymakers and community partners to safeguard equal recognition and religious freedom for Hindu Americans.

text messages and payment records outlining the ceremony. Participants were instructed to complete a gastrointestinal and parasite cleanse before the session, with one message stating that a “clean gut = potentially deeper ceremony.”

Court records also show Sodhi signed a waiver acknowledging the risks associated with psychedelic treatments.

According to the arrest warrant, Lee promoted the ceremony as a treatment for depression, anxiety, addiction and trauma, despite later telling investigators it was conducted as a religious sacrament of the Eternal Life Tribe rather than under his medical license.

Sabia Wellness House attorney Richard Cooper called the incident “a tragic accident” and said the center supports the safe use of alternative therapies alongside conventional medicine.

FDA approves first oral PCSK9 inhibitor to lower 'bad' cholesterol

WASHINGTON, DC - The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved Lipfendra (enlicitide), the first oral PCSK9 inhibitor, for adults with hypercholesterolemia, including those with heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (HeFH). The once-daily tablet is intended to be used alongside diet, exercise, and other cholesterol-lowering treatments to reduce low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), commonly known as "bad" cholesterol. Until now, PCSK9 inhibitors were available only as injectable medications. Lipfendra offers a convenient oral alternative for patients who need additional LDL-C reduction despite receiving maximally tolerated statin therapy.

"Cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of death in the United States, and elevated LDL cholesterol is one of its most important modifiable risk factors," said Dr. Michael Davis, Acting Director of the FDA's Center for Drug Evaluation and Research. He said the approval expands treatment options while supporting efforts to combat chronic

DOJ: Fugitive Accused of $547 Million Medicare Fraud Returned

LOUISIIANA - Khalid Ahmed Satary, 54, has been returned to the United States to face charges in connection with an alleged $547 million Medicare fraud scheme after being arrested in the Middle East while carrying a fake Mexican passport under a false identity, the U.S. Department of Justice said. Satary was indicted in 2019 in the Eastern District of Louisiana for his alleged role in one of the largest health care fraud schemes ever charged by the DOJ. Prosecutors allege that between 2016 and 2019, he owned and operated multiple diagnostic laboratories across the U.S. that billed Medicare for expensive, medically unnecessary genetic tests.

According to the indictment, Satary conspired with patient recruiters, telemarketing call centers and telemedicine companies, using deceptive marketing campaigns, illegal kickbacks and bribes to generate genetic cancer test samples that reimbursed between $10,000 and $20,000 each. Authorities allege his laboratories submitted more than $547 million in fraudulent Medicare claims and that he paid millions of dollars in illegal kickbacks to physicians and recruiters. Federal authorities also seized 16 bank accounts and restrained real estate linked to the case. After being released on bond following the indictment, Satary was prohibited from working in the health care industry. Prosecutors

cardiovascular disease. High LDL cholesterol can build up in artery walls, forming plaques that narrow blood vessels and increase the risk of heart attack and stroke. Because high cholesterol often has no symptoms, it is commonly detected through routine blood tests.

The approval is based on two randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trials involving 3,207 adults with hypercholesterolemia receiving statin therapy. In patients with established or high-risk atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, Lipfendra reduced LDL-C levels by an average of 56% after 24 weeks compared with placebo. In patients with HeFH, LDL-C levels fell by an average of 59%.

Safety results showed adverse event rates similar to placebo in the first study. In the HeFH trial, diarrhea and dizziness were the most common side effects reported more frequently with Lipfendra. Discontinuation rates due to adverse events were comparable between treatment and placebo groups. Lipfendra received FDA Priority Review and was evaluated under the Commissioner's National Priority Voucher pilot program.

allege he violated those conditions by conspiring with Houston-area laboratories to continue submitting fraudulent Medicare claims. A federal arrest warrant was issued in December 2022 after he failed to appear in court and allegedly fled the country. He was apprehended on July 20, 2026, by law enforcement partners in the Middle East and transferred into U.S. custody.

Justice Department officials, including Acting Attorney General Blanche,

Khalid Ahmed Satary, 54, was arrested yesterday on criminal charges related to his orchestration of a scheme to defraud Medicare over half a billion dollars for unnecessary genetic testing.

FBI Director Kash Patel, and U.S. Attorney David I. Courcelle, said the case underscores the government's commitment to pursuing health care fraud suspects worldwide. Officials said the alleged scheme exploited elderly and vulnerable Medicare beneficiaries while costing taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars. As with all criminal cases, the charges are allegations, and Satary is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

Indian-Americans Urged to Enter Politics

Lawmakers say political participation is key to fighting bias.

Shri Thanedar and Raja Krishnamoorthi, two Indian American lawmakers have urged the Indian American community to become more active in politics and consider running for elected office in order to fight the growing anti-India rhetoric in the country.

During an event held in Washington, the two politicians highlighted the importance of greater political participation by the community as concerns over anti-India and antiimmigrant sentiment continue to come to the forefront.

Thanedar is a Democrat representing Michigan and Krishnamoorthi is a Democrat representing Illinois. The two also said stronger representation would help ensure that the community’s concerns are heard in policy discussions and public life.
