eaders of the AfricanAmerican community asked for justice during the funeral of Michael Brown on August 25, and made a conciliatory call for change to avoid further tragedies like the fatal shooting of the young black man by a white police officer that set off two weeks of unrest in the U.S. state of Missouri’s Ferguson town.

The closed casket of Brown, 18, adorned with two photos of him as a child and several garlands of white and red flowers, was at the center of the ceremony at the Friendly Temple Missionary Baptist Church in St. Louis. Hundreds of people had congregated since dawn to attend the service.

The Rev. Al Sharpton had words of comfort for the parents of the dead teenager, Michael Brown Sr. and Lesley McSpadden, and also a message

for the authorities.

“We are required to leave here today and change things.

Michael Brown must be remembered for more than disturbances. He must be remembered for this is when they started changing what was going on,” Sharpton said.

Among those in attendance were the Rev. Jesse Jackson; Martin Luther King III, son of the slain civil rights leader; director Spike Lee and three White House officials.

Sharpton slammed the fact that the youth’s body was left almost 4 1/2 hours in the street for all to see. The Brown case has exposed the racial differences still underlying American society, and the economic and social inequalities that exist in some communities like Ferguson, a town where two-thirds of the roughly 21,000 residents are African American, but all three members of the police force are white.

Modus vivendi between Modi and RSS? Narendra Modi’s non-confrontationist style vis-a-vis the RSS, unlike in 2002, aims at ensuring peace and stability for the sake of India’s development AMULYA GANGULI, NEW DELHI

A

lthough the assertions of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat about India being a Hindu nation and that all its citizens are Hindus in a cultural sense have long been among the basic tenets of the Hindu nationalist outfit, the reiteration of these old postulates undoubtedly has something to do with the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) assumption of power at the centre. The RSS apparently believes that the time has come at last for its dream of converting India into a Hindu ‘rashtra’ (nation) to be fulfilled with the help of a friendly government.

In fact, the RSS is even refraining from uttering the words, India or Bharat, which are used in the constitution to describe the country. Instead, the RSS uses the word Hindustan, the land of Hindus, presumably to facilitate the process of transition to the Hindu rashtra.

What is noteworthy, however, about these provocative postures — for both minorities and liberalminded Hindus — is that there hasn’t been a word in either endorsement or condemnation by the Narendra Modi government.

The silence is odd considering that one of the BJP ministers in Goa, who is a Christian, has dittoed the views of the RSS and has described himself as a Hindu Christian.

It is possible that the government and the RSS have evolved a modus vivendi whereby the latter will be allowed to pursue its proHindu agenda as long as there is no disruption of communal peace and direct interference in governance. In this context, the initiative taken by the Hindutva camp to put the construction of the Ayodhya temple on hold is probably a part of this deal.

“While its adaptogenic qualities can help the soldiers in adjusting to the low pressure-low oxygen environment, the plant has also been found to have anti-depressant and appetizer properties,” said Srivastava.

In the barren glacier of Siachen where white is the only color visible for miles, depression is a problem troops face. The high altitude and harsh climate also make them lose appetite.

Onus is on PM to bar tainted ministers: SC NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court dismissed on August 27 a petition on appointment of ministers with criminal background in what many termed a split verdict. The apex court refused to disqualify tainted ministers, leaving it to “PM’s wisdom” to decide his cabinet, according to reports.

A five-judge Constitution bench headed by the Chief Justice of India, R.M. Lodha, delivered its verdict on whether the Supreme Court could direct the Prime Minister to remove such ministers.

“Those in conflict with law and involved in offenses of moral turpitude and corruption should not be allowed to discharge duty as ministers,” the apex court observed.

“Prime Minister and chief ministers should not include people with criminal antecedents in their cabinet,” the SC added.

“Constitution reposes immense trust in PM and CMs and they are expected to act with responsibility and with constitutional morality.”

The Narendra Modi government has 11 ministers who have police cases against them.

ndian-American journalist Fareed Zakaria, who two years ago got away from a plagiarism controversy claiming he made a “terrible mistake”, is facing fresh plagiarism charges from anonymous internet watchdogs.

The website Our Bad Media in a report by @blippoblappo and @crushingbort cited 12 instances where Zakaria appears to have lifted passages wholesale from other authors.

“Their findings cast doubt on the three news outlets —Time Magazine, CNN and The Washington Post — which claimed to have conducted reviews of Zakaria’s work and found the so-called ‘mistake’ to be an isolated incident,” said Politico, an influential news site.

“Did CNN, The Washington Post, and Time actually check Fareed Zakaria’s work for plagiarism?” the two bloggers asked, noting that Zakaria was cleared “after what three of the biggest news outlets in America wrote off as an isolated, one-time mistake”.

Excise Minister K. Babu told mediapersons here that there are 730 bars in the state, of which the licenses of 418 have not been renewed this fiscal. “Of the remaining 312 bars, 20 are in five star hotels and barring these, all others will have to close down on September 12.

“There was a considered opinion that 15 days notice should be given

to these bars and on August 27 this decision was ratified by the state cabinet and the notices for closure would be served to the bars on August 28,” said Babu after a high level meeting. This new direction has come as part of the decision of the state government last Friday which finalized the new liquor policy to achieve prohibition in the next 10 years. The government on August 26 submitted the new liquor policy to the Kerala High Court, which posted the case for September 17. The new policy also states that only the five-star hotels in the state will serve liquor.

Eminent Kannada writer Ananthamurthy dead IANS, BANGALORE

enowned Kannada writer and literary critic U.R. Ananthamurthy died here on August 22 after a brief illness.

He was 82.

Born on December 22, 1932 near Thirthahalli in Shimoga district of Malnad region, about 300km from here, Anan-

thamurthy was the sixth recipient of the country’s highest literary honor — Jnanpith award — in Kannada, the state’s native language, in 1994.

In recognition of his outstanding literary contributions, the Indian government also honored him with Padma Bhushan in 1998.

The bearded Ananthamurthy was also one of the finalists for the

British Man Booker International Prize in 2013.

Ananthamurthy’s works were translated into several Indian and European languages. His main works include Samskara, Bhava, Bharathi Pura, and Avasthe.

He also wrote several short stories besides a number of novels, some of which were made into Kannada movies.

ctor-filmmaker R. Parthiban, who is extremely delighted with the success of his latest Tamil directorial Kathai Thirakkathai Vasanam Iyakkam, says the film didn’t adhere to the regular style of storytelling because it was meant to break it.

When Parthiban announced Kathai... a few months back, he promoted it as a film without a story.

“For years, audiences have got used to a mundane style of story-

telling,” said Parthiban.

“So, when I finally made a film that broke all stereotypes attached with storytelling, it was widely appreciated. This only means audiences are open to new kind of cinema,” Parthiban told IANS. “If not me, then someone else would’ve done it. I think it was the timing that worked in favor of my film.

“This kind of film may not work again in future. Audiences are expecting some novelty in each film and when they find it, they’ll definitely reward it,” he said.

CHENNAI: Actor Ramya Krishnan, who has been away from the limelight for a while, will be making her comeback in a prominent role in a yet-untitled Tamil film, co-starring Vishal Krishna.

The film is being directed by Sundar C, and Ramya is expected to join the team soon.

“I can confirm that Ramya will be seen in an important role, but I can’t divulge details about it. She will join the team in the second schedule which will start in Hyderabad soon,” Sundar C told IANS during an interview.

Ramya was last seen in Tamil film Kutti Pisasu.

‘Anjaan’ fails to deliver Film: ‘Anjaan’; Cast: Suriya, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Manoj Bajpayee, Vidyut Jamwal, Dalip Tahil, Soori, Brahmanandam, Asif Basra and Murali Sharma; Director: N. Lingusamy; Rating: **

njaan is like a battle between Suriya, the star, and Suriya, the actor. Interestingly, the film features him in a double role — one is a star and the other is an actor.

But the director has focused on the star only.

Suriya, who didn’t mind playing a buck-toothed, dark, ugly hunchback Chinna in Perazhagan or a con man in Pithamagan or the grim police officer in Kaaka Kaaka, didn’t hesitate to experiment, but the film’s plot backfired.

The Suriya we saw in those films may not have been a star then (or maybe he was), but audiences loved him as much as they like him today.

Anjaan comes after Suriya’s recent blockbuster Singam 2, and the makers assumed that his success streak would help “Anjaan” in wooing the audience.

To cash in on Surya’s success, N. Lingusamy rustled up a gangster revenge drama, inspired by several desi gangster films, but lost the plot.

Shot in Mumbai with a host of

Bollywood actors, who are excruciatingly awful in their roles, it also has a romantic track. Samantha romances Suriya, dances with him in a bikini

and the crowd goes berserk.

There are punchy dialogues, which are repeated in every fight scene. There’s comedy too, but it

hardly evokes laughter.

Look at the irony of Tamil cinema. Movies made here can’t have many dialogues in Hindi because audiences won’t understand. But the filmmakers worked with Bollywood actors in the film because the script demanded so, but they were not allowed to dub in their own voices, as they can’t speak Tamil.

So when these actors appear on the screen, you get the feeling that you’re watching a Hindi film dubbed in Tamil.

This is precisely why Manoj Bajpayee, one of the finest actors in Indian cinema, always looks like a clown in Tamil films.

It is high time Lingusamy, who is reluctant to change, accepts the fact that age-old formula doesn’t work anymore. — Haricharan Pudipeddi

Mardaani is a film that makes all the correct noises about child trafficking. And by “correct noises”, I do mean the soundtrack, which is among the most evocative provocative and satisfying in recent times.

Normally in Bollywood, when films are done with live sound, the effect is scratchy and at times in inaudible. Mardaani cleans out the noises and yet retains a high decibel of authenticity in the complementary relationship between sight and sound. This is a film that knows its job.

This, then, is the world of Pradeep Sarkar’s derelict people.

Posh pimps and “cool” flesh traders gnawing at the fabric of our society by playing with the lives of the most innocent and vulnerable.

Without the least fuss, director

Pradeep Sarkar (so eloquent in his last film outing with Rani in ‘Laaga Chunari Mein Daag’) provides us vivid glimpses into the life of the cop-hero Shivani (Rani).

Towards the end, the film’s elegant pace slackens, sags and almost collapses. But somehow, Sarkar manages to keep the proceedings from getting dragged down by the drama, no matter how unruly they progressively gets.

The narrative is well-stocked with signs of conscientiousness.

Human trafficking is evidently not a pretext to assemble a thriller here.

Shooting for ‘Gandhi’ was a revelation: Rohini Hattangadi

ctor and theatre personality Rohini Hattangadi played Kasturba in the late Richard Attenborough's Gandhi and says that working in the multiple Oscar winning film was a revelation for her. She said that the British film director gave a bound script to everyone and followed it religiously.

Attenborough died at the age of 90 on August 24.

“I still remember vividly how I got Kasturba's role in Gandhi. At that time I was doing Marathi theatre when casting agent Dolly Thakore contacted me to meet Sir Richard,” said Rohini.

“He was going from Delhi to London via Mumbai. Luckily, I was in Mumbai that day. I met him for an hour. We spoke about theatre and then he left. I later got to know he had so many other actresses for Kasturba's role. So I didn't really bank on getting the role. But the very next day Dolly called to say I had to leave for London for shooting immediate-

We were all given scripts and then we were asked to do our homework. I searched for books on Kasturba, but I found only two books, that's all. So I had to rely on my own skills. At the same time Sir Richard did not allow us to deviate from the script. He was very clear on how he wanted my

English pronunciation. He didn't want me to put on an accent. At the same time, he didn't want any Maharashtrian or Marathi pronunciation in my speech. Sir Richard also made me and Ben Kingsley learn to spin the charkha. We spent two-and-a-half months learning both,” she said.

Released in 1982, the biographical film brought the life of Gandhi on celluloid and the appreciation that the film garnered.

He was a brilliant actor, director and a great human being. As a filmmaker, he was in love with Indian culture and he's the one who reinvented Gandhi for us.

AHWAH (NJ) -- About 1,300 blood donors attended a Mega Blood Drive on August 24 at the Bergen County Law and Public Safety Institute, sponsored by the World Mission Society Church of God. Blood supplies are 15 per cent lower than last year in New Jersey, Jerry Antoine, director of donor recruitment at the Blood Center of New Jersey in East Orange, said.

The World Mission Society is one of the fastest-growing churches in the world, with more than 2,200 branches in 175 countries and more than 2.2 million members worldwide.

This year, the event will begin at noon and go on until 5pm but the party will just be getting started at 5.30pm with the ‘Light Up Times Square’ concert where you will be able to see some of your favorite Bollywood stars who will travel all the way from India to wish you a Happy Diwali and celebrate under the stars and amongst the lights of Times Square.

EKALB COUNTY (Ga.) -- A rash of copper thefts in DeKalb County has school officials putting back-up plans in place before the schools reopen on Monday.

According to the police, thieves have targeted 16 schools in the last few weeks costing the school district more than $800,000 in damage.

The police, who have now partnered with school officials to stop these thieves from doing any more damage, announced the joint effort at a news conference last week at Stephenson Middle School, one of the schools targeted.

School officials say the thieves stole copper from the air-conditioning units at the school.

The police will use their chopper, equipped with infrared imaging and night vision along with extra patrols to catch the thieves.

DeKalb’s school superintendent says this has impacted the school district significantly, but they were able to repair the damage at all schools.

Though there has been seen an increase in copper thefts at churches and libraries throughout the county, the police rule out it is the same people targeting the schools.

EW YORK -- IndianAmerican lawyer Reena Patel has been named civil division chief in the attorney general’s office in the Northern Mariana Islands, one of the five inhabited US island territories.

Officially the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI), it consists of 15 islands in the western Pacific Ocean, about three-quarters of the way from Hawaii to the Philippines.

Pa t e l’s a p p o i n t m e n t w a s announced recently by the territory’s acting Attorney General Gilbert Birnbrich.

“It is evident through her hard work that Ms Patel will continue to succeed in our office, and most importantly, in her new role as chief.

I can attest to her capabilities and her commitment to serve the people of the CNMI.” As chief, Patel’s duties and responsibilities will be that of administering the day-to-day operations of the department.

“I am honoured to be offered the position of chief of the civil division.

I look forward to continue serving the people of the commonwealth in my new role,” said Patel.

Patel, a native of New York City, received her undergraduate degree from New York University in 2000, a law degree from the Thomas Jefferson School of Law in 2008, and an LLM in international trade in 2009, according to a media release.

After law school, Patel entered private practice in San Diego until she moved to the CNMI in March 2012 to serve as an assistant attorney general.

CHEATING PRIEST GETS HIS JUST DESERTS

TLANTA (GA) -- A Hindu priest, who sometimes portrayed himself as God on earth, and fattened his bank accounts on the backs of temple devotees, was convicted after a two-week trial by jury in Atlanta, Georgia on August 25.

Annamalai Annamalai, a/k/a Dr. Commander Selvam, a/k/a Swamiji Sri Selvam Siddhar, the former leader of the now defunct Norcross, GA-based Hindu Temple of Georgia, was convicted of 34 felony counts.

The litany of charges included bank fraud offenses, filing a false tax return, bankruptcy fraud offenses, money laundering, obstruction, false statement offenses, and conspiring to conceal a person from arrest. He is scheduled to be sentenced on November 13, before Atlanta’s District Court Judge Timothy C. Batten Sr. The high-flying priest made all his tainted money through the temple, charging his followers fees in exchange for providing what they thought were spiritual or other services. All the time, he was filching their credit card numbers and getting high on the hog.

In a typical transaction, a follower agreed to pay for a particular service with a credit card number by telephone to guarantee payment.

Annamalai used the credit card numbers to charge for other purchases.

If the devotees disputed the charges with their respective credit card companies, Annamalai submitted false documentation to the credit card companies to support the unauthorized charges.

Those transactions formed the basis for his conviction on bank fraud charges.

The theme of the ‘Women’s awareness’ seminar was ‘Health and Wealth’ and it was held to share information and empower women in nutrition and finance.

GOPIO-LA president Kewal Kanda welcomed and thanked the audience for their participation.

The organization’s vice president Navin Gupta and treasurer Rajinder Dhunna introduced the five speakers — Aparna Hande (RN), Deepti Singh (former director of nutrition at Kaiser Permanente), K. They covered topics such as diabetes, nutrition, banking, a checklist of financial do’s and don’ts, and improving protein quality in vegetarian diets.

After the informative presentations from the speakers, the program culminated with a live cooking demo by Anju Garg, who was assisted by Shana Rajput. They demonstrated healthy recipes like low-fat paneer fajitas, as well as quinoa and kale salad to the more than 90 attendees.

Annamalai was convicted of filing a false tax return for 2007, failing to disclose his financial interest in foreign bank accounts held in India.

He was also convicted of bankruptcy fraud offenses in connection with the Hindu Temple’s petition for bankruptcy protection in August 2009. Annamalai concealed assets from creditors and others by diverting credit card receipts and donations intended for the Hindu Temple to a bank account in the name of a different entity.

The priest was also convicted of money laundering, using the proceeds from the bankruptcy fraud to pay mortgages on properties that he owned, and payments to himself.

Ironically, when the bankruptcy proceedings began against him, Annamalai

closed down the Norcross temple and relocated to a flea market in Dayton, Ohio.

Revered by many of his followers as a virtual saint, Annamalai was thought to be a healer of sorts.

“He has helped me and millions across the world,” says Narmada Iyer, 38, of Atlanta. “He is my god and he is a righteous man,” Iyer added.

Annamalai named the new temple in the flea market the Hindu Temple of Ohio and nicknamed the property “Vishal’s Ranch” after his son.

At that time, Ashwani Kumar, a priest at the Hindu Temple of Dayton, said he found it troubling that Annamalai had numerous pictures on the Internet which showed him holding his right hand up to his shoulder with a spinning dial in his hand. “Only gods do this and these are our gods,” says Kumar, adding “To claim you are a god is a very serious matter.”

The August 25 conviction also includes three counts of obstruction and false statements in connection with the grand jury investigation and the bankruptcy proceeding.

He gave a fraudulent email to an IRS Special Agent, which was falsely made to appear as if the email had been written and authored by a witness of the criminal investigation; and he submitted a false affidavit to the grand jury, and a false affidavit to the Bankruptcy Court in connection with the Hindu Temple’s bankruptcy proceeding.

Finally, Annamalai was convicted of conspiring with his spouse and codefendant, Parvathi Sivanadiyan, and others to conceal the arrest of co-defendant Kumar Chinnathambi who was later arrested on July 17, and pled guilty to conspiracy to commit bankruptcy fraud.

While Chinnathambi is scheduled to be sentenced on October 24, before Judge Batten, Sr. Sivanadiyan is awaiting trial.

OS ANGELES (CA) -- Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti has appointed Abhi Nemani as the city’s first chief data officer.

In his new role, Nemani will collaborate with city departments to collect and analyze data and oversee operations of the city’s new open-data portal, according to a press release issued by Mayor Garcetti.

Nemani will also “create tools to use data that will help solve everyday challenges for our residents,” Garcetti said in the press release.

Nemani will take over the project from the city’s chief innovation technology officer Peter Marx. Previously, Nemani served as co-executive director for Code for America, a non-profit body that helps communities and governments use technology to solve problems.

“Data has the power to transform the daily lives of L.A. residents and visitors,” the press release quoted Nemani as saying.

“Knowing where your money is going, where a parking space is available, and where an event is taking place puts information into the hands of those who need it most,” he said. Mayor Garcetti is committed to opening city data for innovators and users everywhere, and I’m thrilled to join his team to help him get there.”

ERSEY CITY (NJ) -- Five jitney bus passengers were taken to hospital with minor injuries after a mechanical malfunction caused the vehicle to crash into four cars and two buildings on Kennedy Boulevard in Jersey City last week.

The 41-year-old bus driver told the police that he was driving south on Kennedy Boulevard shortly after 6 am and tried to stop at Grant Avenue. But when the brakes malfunctioned, the bus steered right and struck four parked cars on the west side of the street.

The Mega Tours Inc. bus then struck the Mini Market grocery store at 2127 Kennedy Blvd. and a Comcast service center at 2125 Kennedy Blvd., causing minor damage to the facades of both businesses.

The five people were taken to JCMC and discharged after being treated for minor injuries.

MAN FACES 20-YR JAIL FOR SON-IN-LAW’S MURDER

EBRASKA -- Septuagenarian Bayapa Lingala was charged on August 13 with seconddegree murder and use of a weapon for the alleged murder of his son-in-law Sujay Nooka, 46, at his home in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Nooka died from the fatal wound in hospital a few hours later.

Lingala (77) allegedly stabbed Nooka at the end of a birthday party for the lattre’s 12-year-old daughter on August 5. Nooka was a supply chain manager for Lincoln Industries and earned his master’s degree in engineering from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

When the police reached the house, they found Nooka’s wife Uma on the front steps with her husband, who was covered in blood, had trouble breathing and could not speak. She told the police that her father stabbed her husband and was in his basement bedroom.

The officers found Lingala writing a note in the basement and did not obey officers when they told him to put his hands up. After they handcuffed Lingala, the officers reportedly found a meat cleaver and a knife with a bloody 8-inch blade.

Uma, 44, a physician, told the police that she thought her father, Lingala, an Indian national, suffered from bipolar disorder and had been prescribed medication to treat paranoia.

ONROE (GA) -- A Hindu temple in Georgia was vandalized by unknown miscreants earlier this month.

A Hindu American organization said members of Vishwa Bhavan Mandir in Monroe, Ga., found graffiti and profanity displayed on their place of worship early on the morning of August 2.

Spray painted messages included “ha ha” and “LOL.” The Hindu American Seva Communities (HASC), which has taken up the case, said the incident of vandalism had shocked Hindus across the country.

“The desecration of the Lord Shiva statue (murti) was significantly heartbreaking for the Hindu community in Georgia, as it is the main deity of worship. Across the country, we find, many mandirs (temples) do not actively voice their concerns other than file a police report,” HASC said in a statement.

“It is important for our places of worship, around the country, to be aware of what has happened as this could happen to anyone. HICAGO (IL) -- The Hindu Mandir of Lake County celebrated Janmashtami with due religious fervor and vivacity on August 16, with more than 600 people visiting the temple.

Many couples with young children came to witness Baby Krishna sitting in a beautifully decorated cradle along with attractively painted cutouts showing the life of Lord Krishna’s childhood to teen age.

The main function started around 6 pm by breaking a candy filled ‘Govinda Mataki’ by young children and adults. Kalash sthapan, Lord Ganesh, and Devi Pujan were performed by Pt. Anil Joshi Ji with all the Vedic rituals with Nikhil and Shruti Sharma.

LEVELAND (OH) -- Dr. Atul Mehta, an Indian American physician with the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio, was the recipient of the 2014 Gustav Killian Centenary Award at the recent 18th World Congress for Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology here.

Killian performed the first brončhoscopy in 1897 to remove a foreign body from the airways. This award was created in his honor and considered the highest recognition in the field. It recognizes accomplished bronchologists whose achievements and practices have made a significant impact on the art and the science of bronchology.

Mehta has spent his entire career on diagnostic and therapeuticbrončhoscopy. He is the founder of the American Association for Bronchology and the Journal of Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology and was editor-in-chief for 11 years.

His contributions are in the areas of bronchoscopy in lung-transplantation, tracheal-stenosis, and conventional TBNA. He has been involved in training bronchoscopists in over 50 countries.

Among his numerous awards are his recognition as a Clinical Educator of the Year by the American Thoracic Society in 2006, and the Pasquale Ciaglia Memorial Lecture Award by ACCP for his contributions in the field of interventional pulmonology.

Researchers found that healthy lifestyle helps maintain the elasticity of arteries, thereby preventing downstream cerebrovascular damage and resulting in preserved cognitive abilities in later life.

Our body’s arteries stiffen with age and the vessel hardening is believed to begin in the aorta — the main vessel coming out of the heart before reaching the brain.

“Indeed, the hardening may contribute to cognitive changes that occur during a similar time frame,” said lead researcher Claudine Gauthier from University of Montreal, Canada.

They found that older adults whose aortas were in a better condition and who had greater aerobic fitness performed better on a cognitive test. “We think that the preservation of vessel elasticity may be one of the mechanisms that enables exercise to slow cognitive aging,” Gauthier added.

This enabled the team to compare the older participants within their peer group and against the younger group who obviously have not begun the ageing processes in question. The results demonstrated age-related declines in executive function, aortic elasticity and cardiorespiratory fitness, a link between vascular health and brain function, and a positive association between aerobic fitness and brain function.
