Sheikh Hasina Dispute Tests India–Bangladesh Relations COVID-19 RT-PCR Testing

Her death sentence and exile ensure that even a brief public appearance can reverberate across the border, hardening positions on both sides. Unless the two governments establish a clearer understanding over Hasina’s status and activities, the controversy could overshadow cooperation in trade, security, water sharing and regional connectivity. India’s denial of involvement may limit diplomatic fallout, but Dhaka’s warning shows that the dispute has become a serious bilateral irritant. Careful engagement will be needed to prevent the issue from producing a deeper and more lasting rupture.

Chinmaya Mission Chicago Marks Major Milestone with Soft Opening of Expanded Badri Center CHICAGO, IL — Chinmaya Mission Chicago (CMC) celebrated a major milestone in its 40-year journey of serving Chicagoland families with the soft opening of its newly expanded Badri Center on July 12, 2026. The ceremony was graced by Swami Swaroopananda, Global Head of Chinmaya Mission, marking the beginning of a new chapter for one of the region’s leading Hindu spiritual and cultural organizations. For more than four decades, CMC has empowered children and families through the timeless wisdom of Hindu scriptures, helping nurture values, emotional resilience, and spiritual growth. Founded on the teachings of Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda, the mission believes that children grounded in culture and values become compassionate, responsible adults who positively influence their families and communities. Beginning in January 2027:

These requirements generally apply to Medicaid members who: • Are between 19 and 64 years old; • Do not receive Medicare; and • Do not have a dependent child age 18 or younger living in their household. Some individuals may qualify for exemptions based on health conditions, caregiving responsibilities, or other life circumstances. The State of Illinois will notify affected Medicaid members directly before any action is required. “Nothing has changed today, and patients should continue using their Medicaid coverage with confidence,” said Dr. Erik Mikaitis, CEO of Cook County Health. “Our goal is to make sure every eligible person keeps the health coverage they depend on. Guru Purnima Unites Devotees as Sri Siddheshwar Leads Landmark Gathering HEMPSTEAD, NY – More than 1,000 people attended a Guru Purnima program led by Sri Siddheshwar Brahmrishi Guruvar on July 18 at the John Cranford Adams Playhouse at Hofstra University on Long Island. In his discourse, Sri Siddheshwar encouraged attendees to embrace a spiritual path, captivating the audience with his engaging and thought-provoking oratory. His organization, currently headquartered in Tirupati, is developing a new headquarters and ashram on more than 600 acres in Bengaluru. The first major project at the campus will be a state-ofthe-art charitable hospital and medical college, made possible through a major philanthropic contribution from Tampa, Florida-based entrepreneur Jugal Kishore Taneja. Before Sri Siddheshwar’s discourse, Shilpa Mehta, one of his trained facilitators, led a 30-minute guided meditation session. The meditation served as a prelude to “Siddhasana – The Power of Soul,” a four-hour intensive retreat held the following day in New Hyde Park, Long Island. Organizers also announced that Siddhi, a featurelength documentary on Sri Siddheshwar directed by filmmaker Neha Lohia, is ready for release. NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ – A Rutgers University-led research team has launched the first U.S. study focused on understanding Alzheimer’s disease and dementia risk among South Asian Americans. The South Asian Middle Age Risk Tracking for Brain Health (SAMARTH) study aims to identify the health, lifestyle, and genetic factors that influence brain health in this underserved population. The study will follow 750 adults aged 45 to 70 from New Jersey and neighboring states, which are home to the largest South Asian population in the U.S. Around 170 participants have enrolled so far. Researchers will conduct cognitive tests, neurological and physical examinations, blood work, brain imaging, and lifestyle assessments every 18 months. The initiative builds on a Rutgers review published in Alzheimer’s & Dementia, which found that dementia risk factors among South Asians differ from those identified in predominantly European ancestry populations. According to Dr. Michal Schnaider Beeri, director of the Krieger Klein Alzheimer’s Research Center, South Asians remain underrepresented in Alzheimer’s research, limiting access to tailored prevention and treatment
