TURKS AND CAICOS Futsal Finale Team spirit and friendly competition were on full display as Beaches Turks and Caicos Resort concluded its highly anticipated Inter-Departmental Futsal Competition. Emerging victorious was the Butler Elite Services team, which claimed the championship title after a series of exciting matches. Treasure Beach Village Bars finished as runners-up, while Watersports secured third place after defeating the Dining Room team in the bronze-medal match. The competition brought team members together from across the resort, fostering camaraderie, teamwork, and healthy rivalry. Beyond the final scores, the tournament served as a celebration of athletic talent and reinforced the strong sense of unity that continues to define the resort’s culture.

BAHAMAS World Teachers’ Day In celebration of World Teachers’ Day, we visited four schools to show our appreciation for the dedicated teachers who make a lasting difference in the lives of their students. Adam Stewart recognised for his transformative leadership in Caribbean tourism, business and community development In recognition of his longstanding contributions to Jamaica and the Caribbean, Adam Stewart, CD, Hon. LLD, Executive Chairman of Sandals and Beaches Resorts, has been honored with the 2026 International Achievement Award from the American Friends of Jamaica (AFJ). Stewart received the honor during the organization's annual Hummingbird Gala on October 16 at The Plaza Hotel, where Emmy Award-winning actress, advocate and activist Sheryl Lee Ralph was also recognized with the International Humanitarian Award. The celebration marked one of the final major galas at New York City's iconic Plaza Hotel ahead of its reported four-year closure. Bringing together distinguished leaders, philanthropists and supporters of Jamaica, the evening also featured remarks from Jamaica's Prime Minister, Dr. the Most Honourable Andrew Holness, along with a performance by pioneering reggae and dancehall artist Sister Nancy. The annual gala raises funds in support of AFJ's work in education, healthcare and economic development across Jamaica. Coming just ahead of the one-year anniversary of Hurricane Melissa, the recognition carries added significance. The International Achievement Award celebrates Stewart's decades of leadership across Jamaica's tourism and business sectors, as well as his commitment to strengthening communities across the island and wider Caribbean. Through his leadership of Sandals and Beaches Resorts, alongside his entrepreneurial and philanthropic work, Stewart has helped shape the evolution of Caribbean tourism while creating opportunities for the people who power the region. During his acceptance remarks, Stewart said, "It is the greatest honor for me to be here with my family and share with the world the magic and gifts of Jamaica. In 1981, my late father had a bold idea: to start a hotel company with just 99 rooms beside an airport in Montego Bay. Today, I have the privilege of carrying that vision and legacy forward. What began as a simple dream has grown into a globally recognized brand, proudly standing on the world stage. What makes that journey truly remarkable is what it has shown about the extraordinary

gifts, talent and spirit of the Caribbean people. More than 20,000 team members are part of our organization today, 97 percent of them born in the Caribbean, with Jamaica at its heart. We'll keep showing up every day and doing everything we can for this extraordinary island. We will never stop."

support. Through the Sandals Foundation, the company also mobilized relief efforts to assist storm-affected communities across Jamaica, reinforcing Stewart's longstanding commitment to the island and the people whose livelihoods depend on its tourism industry.

Jamaica remains central to the company's growth strategy, with Stewart leading a US$200 million transformation of three of Sandals' most iconic Jamaican resorts following Hurricane Melissa. After closing in the wake of the storm, Sandals South Coast, Sandals Montego Bay and Sandals Caribbean Cay are being completely reimagined with new accommodations, redesigned pools, expanded dining concepts and elevated guest experiences. Sandals South Coast is scheduled to reopen on November 18, followed by Sandals Montego Bay and Sandals Caribbean Cay on December 18, marking a significant milestone in Jamaica's tourism recovery and the company's continued investment in the island.

That commitment to human development is embedded in Sandals' DNA. In 2012, Stewart founded Sandals Corporate University to expand Caribbean team members' access to professional certifications, degree programs and lifelong learning opportunities. As President of the Sandals Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Sandals Resorts and Beaches Resorts, he also champions initiatives spanning education, community development and environmental conservation throughout Jamaica and the wider Caribbean.

Even as the affected resorts remained closed, Stewart and Sandals pledged to keep 100% of the company's Jamaican team members on payroll with benefits intact, while committing more than US$5 million to direct team member recovery

Together, these efforts reflect the enduring commitment to Jamaica and the Caribbean at the heart of Stewart's recognition. As the island looks toward a new chapter of tourism growth, his leadership remains focused on ensuring that the region's success is shared by the people who call it home.

Small Details, Big Difference

Nickeisha Chen

Food and Beverage Administrative Assistant, Sandals Royal Plantation

1

Get Organised Before the Rush

2

Never Underestimate the Little Things

3

4

Start your day by identifying your priorities. Nickeisha begins with the reports that need to be submitted to Cost Control and the Food and Beverage Manager before lending support to the breakfast team. Having a clear plan helps you stay focused while leaving room for unexpected tasks.

A missing item or an incorrect buffet label might seem minor, but small oversights can affect the entire operation. Keep records updated, double-check your work, and flag discrepancies early so they can be addressed before they become bigger problems.

Master the Art of Multitasking Hospitality is always moving, and no two days are exactly alike. Learn to prioritise tasks based on urgency and deadlines, but remain flexible enough to assist other teams when needed. The secret is knowing what needs your attention first without allowing important details to slip through the cracks.

Communicate, Collaborate, Conquer Great hospitality is a team effort! From working with Cost Control on wine inventory to collaborating with the Dining Room team on menus and buffet labels, Nickeisha knows that communication and follow-up are essential. Build good working relationships, ask questions, and never hesitate to lend a helping hand.

Nickeisha’s Golden Rule 16

5

Listen First, Respond Second

6

Stay Adaptable and Solution-Focused

7

Keep Learning from Those Around You

8

Bring Positive Energy!

Working with different personalities and communication styles is part of the job. Nickeisha recommends being patient, listening actively, and keeping an open mind. Understanding another person's perspective can make resolving disagreements easier and help you find solutions that work for everyone.

Plans can change quickly in hospitality, so being able to adjust is a valuable skill. Nickeisha believes there is almost always a way forward if you remain creative, open-minded, and willing to work with others. Rather than getting stuck on a problem, focus on what can be done to resolve it.

Some of the best lessons come from your colleagues! Whether you're learning a new task, discovering a more efficient way to work, or picking up a Jamaican proverb from a fellow team member, every interaction is an opportunity to grow. Stay curious and never be afraid to learn something new.

Being productive matters, but so does how you make people feel. Nickeisha values building positive relationships, supporting her colleagues, and enjoying a good laugh along the way. A caring attitude and a willingness to help can make the workplace better for everyone.

“Stay organised, be open-minded, and remain adaptable. Keep learning, maintain a positive attitude, and remember to have fun along the way!” THE TAKEAWAY: Success in hospitality isn't just about getting the job done. It's about paying attention to the details, supporting your team, and always looking for ways to do things better. I N T OUCH
