DUNN'S RIVER

Operation: School Clean-Up

The spirit of teamwork is stronger than ever. Sandals Dunn’s River recently came together to help clean and restore Priory Primary School after Hurricane Melissa. Classrooms were filled with debris and the school grounds needed attention, so the SDR team rolled up their sleeves, cleared mud, scrubbed floors and helped prepare the space for students to return. It was a day of hard work, laughter and community pride as everyone worked toward one goal: getting the children back into their classrooms as soon as possible. We are proud to support our community and grateful for the chance to make a positive difference.

BARBADOS

Assistant Managers Hit The Road

It was a day of bonding, team building, testing skills and lots of laughs for the Sandals Barbados Assistant Managers.

A Sign of Relief

Sandals has undergone a massive relief initiative delivering welcomed support for team members who were severely affected by Hurricane Melissa.

MOBAY REGION

A giveback tour for hurricane relief

In the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa, a devoted team of volunteers from Sandals Montego Bay and Sandals Royal Caribbean reached out to 50 families during a giveback tour this month. Side by side with their partners from the St. James Poor Relief Department, the team travelled to Norwood, Granville, Retirement, Mount Pisgah, Springfield, Hopeton, Plum Tree, and beyond, determined to bring hope and support to these communities.

Bringing Support to Cornwall Regional

Sandals Montego Bay’s General Manager, Vernon Johnson, along with the resort’s Public Relations team recently visited the Cornwall Regional Hospital in St. James. During the visit, the team toured several areas impacted by Hurricane Melissa and officially handed over 50 brand-new mattresses donated by the Sandals Foundation to support the hospital’s recovery efforts.

TURKS AND CAICOS

From BTC, with love

As our resorts and teams in Jamaica continue its recovery from Hurricane Melissa, the team at Beaches Turks and Caicos paused to share a message of love and support to their colleagues who were affected.

NEGRIL REGION

Throwback: SNG Managers Outing

A happy throwback to this cheerful memory when the Sandals Negril management team enjoyed a well-deserved day of adventure, great food, and fellowship. The day kicked off with an exhilarating visit to Mystic Mountain, followed by a flavour-packed lunch at the famous Miss T’s Kitchen. The evening concluded in style with a lavish dinner at the AC Marriott Hotel — all thanks to their executive team for crafting a fun-filled, intentional itinerary designed to delight.

SOUTH COAST

South Coast’s Resilience

BNG Talent Search

Beaches Negril’s talent search competition brought an extra spark of excitement to the resort, adding even more joy to its already cheerful atmosphere. Inspired by the launch of the Resort Riddims competition, the event quickly took on a life of its own as the team infused it with pure Beaches flair—turning a simple idea into a fun-filled showcase of creativity, energy, and unforgettable talent.

Despite the damage and loss caused by Hurricane Melissa, Team Sandals South Coast has shown that even in the face of adversity, unity is strength. From the team on the ground; who ensured our guests were not only well cared for but also safe, to those who handled as much of the clean-up as they could, everyone rallied together. The team also made sure that fellow team members off-resort were kept updated throughout.

With much gratitude, the team recently collected their care packages and, in true Sandals South Coast spirit, came together to share meals, offer words of encouragement, and exchange warm smiles. It was a comforting reminder of the familiar joy of breaking bread with our colleagues who have over the years become our family too.

OCHI REGION

Ochi Love

In the days following Hurricane Melissa, team members gathered at the resort and received large care packages. The moment was truly emotional, inspiring, and memorable. From the instant team members arrived, the atmosphere was charged with love. Conversations – exchanged over a warm meal – centered on gratitude for life and what the company is doing for everyone. Each employee received a special cash gift from the Executive Chairman along with a large care package so heavy that many needed help to carry it to their vehicle. And while the hurricane left damage behind, it also brought something powerful to the surface: our unity. The event closed with full smiles, full hearts, and renewed determination to rebuild together.

GRENADA

Motivational Men

They say your presence is the present, and on International Men’s Day the young men of Sandals Grenada stepped off-resort and into local schools to gift students with their stories and motivational advice on advancing their education and careers. It was an enriching experience not only for the students but also for the presenters, who stepped away from their daily duties to engage with the students’. The group of eight presenters represented a variety of departments – Front Office, Learning & Development, Engineering, Watersports, Finance and Housekeeping. By sharing their personal journeys and incorporating fun activities throughout their visit, it’s safe to say the experience was mutually rewarding.

Sandals Doubles Down on Team Member Recovery In Hurricane’s Aftermath

In a virtual room filled with over 3,000 loyal guests and travel advisors, eager for updates on Sandals Resorts and Jamaica’s recovery following Hurricane Melissa’s impact on the island’s western end, Executive Chairman of Sandals Resorts, Adam Stewart reaffirmed the company’s commitment to what he described as “the backbone” of the luxury resort brand – its people.

In addition to ongoing efforts to distribute relief supplies directly to team members, Stewart said no one will be laid off, underscoring Sandals’ dedication to its people through every stage of recovery. So far, the resort chain has allocated over USD$3 million in relief efforts.

“A hundred percent of our team remain on payroll – whether they’re at an open or closed resort,” Stewart declared during the global virtual town hall held for guests and travel advisors on November 12 and 13, respectively. “All benefits will also remain in place – pension, medical, dental, everything.”

It was a powerful assurance at a time when five resorts in Negril and Ocho Rios remain temporarily closed until December, while Sandals Montego Bay, Sandals Royal Caribbean, and Sandals South Coast are set to reopen in May 2026 following extensive restoration and upgrades.

was strengthened during Stewart’s recent visit to Sandals South Coast, where he witnessed their unwavering dedication, even as many of them were personally affected by the storm.

Their selflessness moved him deeply.

“A hundred percent of our team remain on payroll – whether they’re at an open or closed resort. All benefits will also remain in place – pension, medical, dental, everything.”

The all-inclusive resort brand is currently undertaking a comprehensive hurricane response initiative for team members that includes relief supplies, financial assistance already paid to its staff, a care and connections hub to help team members cope with loss, stress and emotional impact and temporary housing support for displaced team members.

That steadfast commitment to team members

“There were about 200 team members on property, many of whom had been personally affected,” he recalled. “They were standing shoulder to shoulder, asking about my family, about the leadership of the company, and how they could help rebuild. For those who know me, I’m not often lost for words, but that moment left me humbled. It was a powerful reminder of the remarkable spirit of the Jamaican people – their resilience, their

compassion and their pride in their work.”

Guests who weathered the storm at Sandals properties echoed that same sentiment, sharing heartfelt testimonials of team members who went above and beyond to ensure their comfort and safety amid chaos.

“I spoke to hundreds of guests, one by one, and every single one of them said, without exception, ‘Your people are out of this world. In the middle of the storm, they were smiling, making sure we were fed, taking care of us,’” Stewart recounted. “They couldn’t say enough about our team members. And that’s who we are: a company built on people.”

This, he explained, is the result of years of investment in employee development through the Sandals Corporate University (SCU), which provides team members with opportunities ranging from basic literacy training to fully funded postgraduate degrees. “That’s the Sandals difference,” Stewart said. “It’s the training, the growth, the discovery of people’s superpowers and giving them space to rise.”

“What we got back, as a business, was the incredible professionalism of our team, even in what was likely the most horrific experience of their lives,” he told participants during the

online forum. His message was one of reassurance, gratitude and resolvehighlighting both the company’s resilience and the unshakable spirit of its people.

As both Executive Chairman and Jamaica’s Ambassador and Special Investment Envoy for tourism, Stewart also used the town hall to reassure guests and travel advisors about the country’s rapid recovery. He noted that the island’s two major airports are already open and operational, adding that several attractions such as Chukka Caribbean Adventures, Dunn’s River Falls and Mystic Mountain were now open and that all routes used for airport transfers and excursions have been cleared and deemed safe for travel.

“Jamaica literally stands on the word ‘resilience’. It’s the spirit. Despite the adversity that many have gone through, the smiles are there,” he said on day two of the online town hall for travel advisors. “You can rest assured that we are going to do all the right things so that the company you’ve grown to love over these years continues to go further. Even if you’re not sending customers to us, it’s ok. Send them to other resorts in Jamaica so we can get the Jamaican people back to work and the Jamaican economy going. We appreciate all that’s been done to support us so far. We’re going to build back together.”

“Jamaica literally stands on the word ‘resilience’. It’s the spirit. Despite the adversity that many have gone through, the smiles are there,”

Sandals Foundation and RUBiS Energy Partner to Restore Livelihood of Westmoreland Fishers

Over 100 fishers in the Whitehouse and Old Bay Fishing communities are better able to resume operations following a $3.5 million donation of 120 rolls of fish wires, and 6,720 litres of gasoline from the Sandals Foundation and RUBiS Energy Jamaica.

On Friday, November 28, the Sandals Foundation began the distribution of fishing wire to 120 fishers – building the capacity of the fisherfolk to produce up to 600 fish pots – their tool of trade. Each fisher also received 56 litres of UltraTec 90 gasoline to fuel their boats from RUBiS Energy Jamaica - a welcome boost for the men and women whose lives and livelihoods have been significantly interrupted by Hurricane Melissa.

“The psychological impact of Hurricane Melissa is something that haunts us each day,” says Diego Salmon, Whitehouse Sanctuary Manager, “You look around and everything is a reminder of the great loss the community has faced. The need is overwhelming, but our fishers are resilient and are working tirelessly to rebuild. We are grateful for this opportunity to strengthen our community.”

A sentiment shared by Michel Malatino, Chief Executive Officer at RUBiS Energy Jamaica, “We are happy to support this important hurricane relief initiative which will help fisher folk return to their livelihoods, provide for their families, and rebuild their communities,” says Malatino.

For Whitehouse fisherman, Oneil Smith, Hurricane Melissa dealt a major blow, “All the boat and fish pot dem mash up so we can’t go out and make money. The help that we receive will give us a start and make me continue my business.”

The Whitehouse Fish Sanctuary was established in 2013 by the Sandals Foundation. Over the years, Salmon with his team of five have developed trust and the support of the community, creating a strong partnership for the preservation of its marine life.

Now, the sanctuary office and its wardens stand as a vital support system to the fishing community – providing care packages, free ice to vendors and residents, and access to power strips and solar powered energy supply

to charge devices and maintain connectivity to family, business partners and clients. The wardens have also installed solar streetlights in key locations to improve security.

Since the October 28 passage of Hurricane Melissa, the Sandals Foundation has maintained a sustained presence of relief support – including the facilitation of psychological support for residents with counsellors from the Kahle Journey and the Jamaica Psychological Association. As part of its ongoing efforts, the philanthropic organisation continues to work closely with the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries to strengthen the capacity of fishers.

“A major pillar of our work is creating and endorsing opportunities that strengthen our communities. Supporting fishers restores income-generating pathways while providing additional food sources to communities that rely on their efforts to sustain their families. We are eternally grateful to our donors and partners that have made this all possible,” says Heidi Clarke, Executive Director of the Sandals Foundation.

As for the long-term livelihood recovery plan, which relies on the health of the marine resource, the Sanctuary Manager affirms, “We all have a deeper appreciation for our sanctuary as it will act as a building block to restoring our livelihoods. Once we have achieved self-sustenance, we will shift our focus to assessing the damage to our reefs and begin replanting corals as needed,” Diego Salmon, Whitehouse Sanctuary Manager.

Sandals Foundation Gives Boost to Children's Hospital in Hurricane Response

As hospitals in the north and west of Jamaica continue to reel from the effects of Hurricane Melissa, the Sandals Foundation has injected $6 million worth of equipment and resources to help the Bustamante Hospital for Children accept and care for the critically ill neonates, babies, and children that are being transferred to Kingston.

A suite of machines and supplies including neonatal ventilator, infusion pump, blood gas analyzer, catheter, blood pressure machine, humidifier, nebulizer/ suction machine, IV Pole, exam light and more have been purchased by the philanthropic arm of Sandals Resorts International – building the capacity of the island’s only specialist paediatric hospital.

“Four of our island’s major paediatric centres have been affected by the Hurricane, so here at the Bustamante Hospital for Children, we have made a commitment that we will take the paediatric surgical patients, because we have the surgical specialists, the neonates, and any other sub-specialties such as cardiology, renal patients, and more,” says Dr. Michelle-Ann Dawson, Chief Medical Officer at the Bustamante Hospital for Children.

“It’s going to be difficult for parents because some may have to be separated temporarily from their families, but we are also looking at how we can support the parents with care

packages, with information, dialogue, and psychological support,” continued Dawson.

Within days of the island being hit by the category 5 storm, members of the philanthropic organisation were in dialogue with the Ministry of Health and Wellness to determine critical resources needed to strengthen the services and capacity that were anticipated.

Heidi Clake, Executive Director at the Sandals Foundation says, “Our children and healthcare are two areas that resonate with us especially in times of emergency. Being able to work alongside the Ministry of Health and our doctors and nurses that are working round the clock to serve those most affected - we are very pleased to be able to hand over this equipment that we hope will help in the weeks ahead until our other hospitals are able to recover.”

Within hours of receiving the equipment from local suppliers Jamaica Hospital Supplies and Medical Link, Head of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Dr. Carmen ‘Cindy’ Rhoden, reported success in caring for a patient that was transferred from the west. “We are happy that with your donations yesterday, we were able to give the best care to a preterm neonate 26 weeks gestation weighing only 830g that we accepted last night.”

The Bustamante Hospital for Children is the only specialist paediatric hospital in the English Speaking Caribbean and Jamaica’s major referral hospital. The institution which serves patients 0- 12 years old, provides a wide range of service including Cardiology, Neurology, Asthma/Respiratory, Nephrology, Neurosurgery, Urology, Ophthalmology, Cardio-thoracic, and Dental.

For Dr. Sharon McLean-Salmon, Paediatric Hematologist Oncologist, the donated supplies will also enhance the care of patients with cancers and serious blood disorders.

“We have received two equipment which are essential for our team in terms of managing patients who are affected with cancer and who need intense monitoring to ensure that they are stable and doing well while receiving lifesaving treatment.”

According to the United Nations, around 1.5 million Jamaicans have been impacted by the category 5 storm with seven parishes being the most significantly affected. The Bustamante Hospital in Kingston will provide a place of refuge to patients from the paediatric centres at the Savanna-La-Mar Public General Hospital in Westmoreland, the Black River Hospital in St. Elizabeth, Cornwall Regional Hospital in St. James, and the Falmouth Hospital in Trelawny.
