Sandals South Coast Annual Back-to-School Treat a Welcomed Celebration for Team Members and Their Families
More than 400 team members and their children benefited from Sandals South Coast’s much-anticipated annual Back-toSchool Treat, a cherished tradition that celebrates the resort’s commitment to its team members and their families.
The vibrant event transformed the resort’s grounds into a festive playground, where children enjoyed scrumptious meals, thrilling rides, lively games and an array of other

fun-filled activities. In addition to the entertainment, each child was gifted essential school items including backpacks, stationery and toys; ensuring they are well-prepared for the new academic year.
In an effort to make this year’s celebration even more impactful, Sandals South Coast joined forces with the Whitehouse Health Centre, offering on-site immunizations for children ahead of the new school term.
Also joining the event was WalTech Bookstore, offering exclusive discounts on textbooks, school bags and other academic necessities. This collaboration forms part of Sandals Resorts’ new employee engagement initiative; the Sandals Perks, Amenities, Lifestyle and Moments dubbed Sandals PALM Pass for short - which was designed to provide team members with year-round benefits and savings from partnering businesses.
Expressing pride in the event’s success, Human Resources Manager at Sandals South Coast, Latoya Edmund noted that the annual Back-to-School Treat is just one way in which the resort assists its team members in investing in the future of their children.
“By helping to ease the financial burden and offering valuable health and educational resources, we are showing our team that their families are our family too. Through programmes like the PALM Pass, we are extending this support beyond today, giving our team members on-going access to discounts and benefits that truly make a difference.”

For many team members, including Melica Samuels from the resort’s food and beverage department, the event was a welcome relief in preparing for the school year.
“Every year, this treat makes such a difference for us. The school supplies, the fun activities and even the chance for other team members to get their children vaccinated right here instead of having to go to the hospital which can be time consuming has been a huge help. I’m so grateful to work for a company that cares this much about our families.”
In the same breath, her daughter Damareyah Frew was beaming with excitement after receiving her brand-new school bag.
“I love my new bag, and I had so much fun on the rides. I can’t wait to go back to school!” Damareyah shared.
With a spirit of togetherness and community, Sandals South Coast once again reaffirmed its dedication to empowering its team and their families, ensuring that the next generation steps into the classroom equipped, confident and ready to learn.
Butler Team Triumphs in Thrilling Quiz Finals Showdown at Sandals Ochi

It was a day full of mental agility, friendly rivalry and proud celebration as Sandals Ochi Beach Resort hosted the grand finals of its Intern-Departmental Quiz Competition, drawing a full house of team members, guests and supporters.
The energy was electric as the butler team faced off against a confident and determined engineering team in a contest that had everyone on the edge of their seats.
Departments arrived prepared, energized and dressed in team colors. From the first round, the competition proved to be intense with questions covering a wide range of topics— from mathematics, English, and science to general knowledge and local trivia—keeping both teams and the audience mentally engaged.
Carol Bourke, resort general manager, commended everyone's effort and preparation, "the teams put in a lot of work and they shone today. We have all winners here—they proved their mettle. Events like
this reflect our culture of unity, learning and friendly competition. It is what makes Sandals Ochi a truly dynamic place to work."
The Quiz Master, Carnel Smith, commended the competitors' quick pace and sharp reflexes, remarking on how fast teams hit the buzzers and responded with confidence and style. “It was fast, it was competitive and above all—it was fun,” he added.
One of the highlights of the day was recognizing outstanding individual participants.
Davia Davis, the only female finalist from the resort’s engineering department, received the Top Female Performer Award. She graciously shared, "I gave it everything I had and I am proud to have represented the engineering team. The support from my colleagues meant everything today."
Dalmar Bentley, from the butler team, was named Top Male Performer for his exceptional contributions throughout the quiz.
"This win feels amazing,” Delmar said. “But, what made it special was the team spirit. We backed each other up the whole way and had a great time doing it. It wasn’t just about winning—it was about learning and lifting each other."
The announcement of the butlers as the overall winning team sparked a wave of jubilant emotion. Teammates first hugged each other in victory before being joined by coworkers and supporters from across departments. Cheers, high-fives, support signs and even a few tears of joy marked the moment.
Prizes included dinner passes at Sandals Dunn’s River, catamaran cruises, medals, trophies, supermarket vouchers and curated gift baskets.
"Power is knowledge,” said Gary Holgate, hotel manager. “And today, our team shone brighter than ever.”
