Director of operations Bob Novello said the pier-side restaurant is popular for lunch because of the view and fresh air. “When you come down for lunch, you are getting away for a mini vacation,” Novello said. Since opening in 2010, Board & Brew has been a go-to spot for sandwich lovers. Coowner Mike DeSanti believes quality is the key to the restaurant’s success. “Our sandic tan o t ca t in p opl fin quality in the value,” DeSanti said. “People get the best quality food for the best price.” All food at Board & Brew is made from scratch, and no food enters a freezer or microwave. Their most popular menu items are the Ciabatta Chicken Club and the Baja Chicken sandwich. And the secret sauce is their coup de grâce.

Although they offer a wide variety of dishes including wraps, bagel sandwiches, soups, salads and smoothies, the majority of orders at Active Culture are the Wholesome Bowl—a bowl of organic brown rice, organic black and red beans, cheddar cheese, cabbage, salsa, avocado, cilantro and O.G. sauce (short for Organic Goodness), which is a homemade olive oil and lemon-based sauce that has become so popular that customers buy it by the pint. Co-owners Alexandra and Brian McGraw have found success in their hamburger style. “Brian and I try to stay on top of keeping the burgers consistent, and he really is able to keep track of purchasing and handling business operations,” Alexandra said. The burgers feature a special sauce along with chips, and pickled beats are also offered. The meat is grinded in-house every day.
