Explore, sing, laugh, be creative, play group games and more! No matter what your interests are, we have a camp for you! Campers will meet new friends, learn a new skill, gain an appreciation of the outdoors, and have fun! Sessions will have a special focus to keep the kids interested in the activities throughout the entire summer. Weekly activities may include field trips, special events, sp orts, movies, water play, arts and crafts, and games.

San Carlos Parks and Recreation is looking for confident, enthusiastic and responsible teens to be leaders in training (L.I.T.E.s) at our Summer Adventure Camps and Science Camps. If you enjoy working with children and want to learn valuable job and leadership skills working with our trained Day Camp Leaders, you can apply! This is a great way to fulfill ser vice hours or simply to get work experience. L.I.T.E.s will assist with both the super vision of campers and the daily operations of camp. Applicants must be at least 13 years old by the first day of camp A mandator y training will be held on Friday, June 17 from 9:00am2:00pm at the Youth Center

Interested applicants must complete a written application and the most qualified will be invited to inter view. Applic ations are available at the Youth Center beginning March 7, 2016. The S an Carlos Sc ience and Crea tivity Camp program a t Laureola Park returns for an e xc iting summer. Each camp is a one week program designed around a general sc ience princ iple. Campers will engage in two sc ience projec ts a day, 10 per week. Projec ts are of three different t ypes: Hands- On Projec ts, Exc iting Demonstra tions, and Guest Speakers. All projec ts are educational and all are ex tremely fun! While sc ientific concepts are introduced in each projec t, the emphasis is on “doing” and making sc ience fun. O ther daily camp ac tivities include group games and morning ice breakers. At recess campers are offered a number of ac tivities including face painting, time with the animals, lanyards, friendship bracelets, indoor play with LEGO®, fuse beads and super vised recess outside on the play struc ture and field. Morning, 9:00am-12:00pm (S k ateboarding Lessons): Challenge yourself and build self- confidence with a foc us on safet y, sk ateboarding fundamentals, conditioning and technique. Each day is struc tured as sk ateboarding lessons, education, snack time, game time and play time. Skateboard and helmets are required and safety pads recommended. Lunch break will be held from 12:00-1:00pm. Afternoon, 1:00-4:00pm (Sk ate Ar t Lessons): Students will refurbish used skateboards (prepare sur face for painting) and paint (spray paint and acr ylic) ar twork inspired by skate ar t All painting supplies and used skate deck included Brand new deck may be optionally purchased the first day of class for additional $20. More experienced players will work on developing advanced dribbling skills and team tac tics Ever yone is a winner as the week ’s fun culminates in an age -appropriate “World Cup” tournament All day campers stay for lunch and more soccer play along with soccer movies and tabletop soccer games in the af ternoon. Each day players will reinforce the skills learned by ending the day with a full soccer match. All campers will receive a soccer ball and KLS jersey.
