Adventure Camps Cancellation Policy
Make your camp selec tions carefully! If you must withdraw from camp, a refund will be issued ONLY if notice is received five or more working days prior to the first day of the camp session. Transfers between camps can be arranged on a space -available basis FEES ARE NOT PRO -RATED. Waiting lists are in effec t up to one week prior to camp star t date, then camp openings will be filled first come, first ser ve.

Wee Woods Adventure Camp
(Ages 4–5 yrs)
Come play with us this summer a t S an Carlos Wee Woods Camp! Trained and experienced staff will lead children through daily adventures of songs, c raf ts, games, and outdoor ac tivities. Each week, campers will enjoy ac tivities planned around fun themes, such as Once Upon a Time, Hocus Pocus, Blast from the Past, and more! Campers should wear layered play clothes and closed-toe shoes, and bring a snack, bagged lunch, and wa ter each day. Completed Medical Release and Liabilit y forms required on first day of camp. Burton Adventure Camp (Ages 6–8 yrs)
Discover the wonders of summer with S an Carlos Bur ton Adventure Camp! Trained and experienced staff will lead campers through daily adventures of songs, games, and outdoor ac tivities. Each Thursday campers will enjoy an age - appropria te, off-site field trip, which will be chaperoned by Parks & Rec rea tion Camp Staff. Adventure Camp L.I.T.E. Program
“Leader In Training Education”
San Carlos Parks and Recreation is looking for confident, enthusiastic and responsible teens to be leader in training (L I T E s) at our S ummer Adventure Camps and S cience Camps If you enjoy working with children and want to learn valuable job and leadership skills working with our trained Day Camp Leaders you can apply! This is a great way to fulfill ser vice hours or simply to get work experience. L.I.T.E.s wi assist with both the super vision of campers and the daily operations of camp. Applicants must be at lea 13 years old by the first day of camp. A mandator y training will be held on June 15, from 9:00am-2:00pm at the Youth Center.

Summer Art Workshop — Master Artists (Ages 6-12 yrs)
Spend time learning about and replicating some Master Ar tists with Young Rembrandts. We will draw a variet y awe -inspiring images from many familiar ar tistic masters, all while exploring different media We will create a large scene reminiscent to Roy Lichtenstein’s “Still Life with Figurine” from 1974 We will explore the many ways to illustrate shadow and light using techniques that Lichtenstein used. On we become caricaturists and create unique car toons of many famous ar tists. The final day allows us to explore pastels chalks as we learn about Paul Cezanne and his master y of light and color. Sewing Camp for Kids (Ages 8-12 yrs)
In this camp, students will learn to use a sewing machine, how to read, layout and cut a pattern. We will make 2-3 projec ts: a pillowcase, a pair of pajama pants and if time allows a tote bag. Students will receive 1:1 guidance in completing the projec ts. The focus of the camp is for students to have fun while learning to sew some useful projects. Additional materials (fabric, thread, scissors, etc.) are required. Youth Sewing Camp
with Robin Nielsen (Ages 8-12 yrs)
Come and learn some basic sewing techniques such as sewing machine operation, simple pattern reading and simple sewing projec t construc tion. We will prac tice threading your machine, straight line stitching, keeping a seam allowance, pinning and cutting out a pattern. Students are encourage to bring their own sewing machine, other wise a machine will be made available for a $10 rental for the length of the camp. 101 Dalmatians KIDS - A Mini Musical (Ages 6-9 yrs) Take the stage this summer in the San Carlos Children’s Theater mini musical 101 Dalmatians KIDS. In just two weeks, campers audition for roles, sing, dance, rehearse and per form this mini version of the classic D isney adventure featuring Cruella D e Vil and 101 of the most adorable heroes to set their paws on stage It’s a great per formance oppor tunit y for ac tors of all levels No prior experience is needed. Robin has a BS in Biology and a dual MA in Biological Sc iences and Educa tion and is currently an adjunc t Biology and Health Sc ience instruc tor a t Canada College. Each camp is a one week program designed around a general sc ience princ iple. Campers t ypically do t wo sc ience projec ts a day, 10 per week. O ther daily camp ac tivities include a camp game, and morning ice breakers. The camp is made even more spec ial with our permanent animal residents of rabbits and chickens. Par ticipants develop lifelong skills not only learning about emergenc y preparedness, but also how to work together to accomplish tasks. Taught by professional firefighters, par ticipants learn skills including: First Aid, CPR, exit drills, fire ex tinguisher use, disaster preparedness, and home safety In addition to the prac tical skills they can use ever y day, par ticipants learn what its like to be a firefighter by ex tinguishing fire with fire hoses, proper lifting techniques for moving ladders and hose, hose management, and they even get to climb the 100 foot tall ladder! T-SPORTS baseball and softball camps are a fantastic summer program dedicated to teaching kids about the game that we all love. We focus little on the results of players or games, but instead on the process of playing the game. Drills, scrimmages, and fun baseball related games happen daily. We care about the baseball/softball-related futures of campers, but more impor tantly, concentrate on the positive experience that playing baseball and softball can bring to a player including the following: teamwork, building confidence, discipline, developing new skills, and building new friendships. MTA Tennis Camps (Ages 5-12 yrs)
McKenney Tennis Ac ademy features an inviting, comprehensive summer program designed for youth to learn tennis, refine their skills, and have a great time playing. The c amp foc uses on students’ growth athletic ally, socially , and emotionally. Drills and games strengthen agility, balance, and coordination (ABC ’s). MTA reinforces impor tant life lessons, such as hard work, effor t, and friendship, based on principles of John Wooden’s Pyramid of Success. Instruc tors adhere to the USTA-sanc tioned QuickStar t program using low pressured balls and smaller cour t sizes appropriate to age and skill level More advanced students will play on full-size cour ts, increase conditioning and prepare for tournament play. With an emphasis on instruc tion, your child will receive the highest level of attention in a fun and safe environment. O ur morning sessions are dedicated to technical training and developing skills We create man touches on the ball to make it exciting and to improve your child ’s game Half days conclude with small-sided games In the afternoons we plays games where we work on tac tics and positioning. All our coaches are skilled players, great with children and love to teach. With a 1 to 10, coach to player ratio, we are able to focus on high- qualit y and individualized training. Cancellations by Department
a camp is cancelled by the Parks & Recreation Depar tment, full refund will be issued to the customer
Transfers
here is no charge to transfer your child bet ween c amps if otice is given to the Parks & Recreation Depar tment at least wo weeks prior to camp star t date, provided there is space ailable.
Cancellations by Participant
Camps cancelled by par ticipant at least two weeks prior to the camp star t date will receive a refund less a $10 refund fee per camp. No refunds will be issued within two weeks of the camp star t date or after camp begins.
However, your satisfac tion matters most to us and refunds will be considered. Par ticipants who are dissatisfied with a program for any rea son must fill out a pro gram evalua tion prior to receiving a refund so we can make the class better in the future Refunds will be evaluated on a case by case basis by the program super visor.
