TECHSORTIUM’22

Techsortium’22, the technical flagship event of IEEE LINK Kerala Section was conducted from 20th to 24th of July in collaboration with IEEE SB MITS in a hybrid mode at Muthoot Institute of Technology and Science. The theme of the event was Augmented Reality. The event was aimed at providing students with a basic understanding of Augmented Reality, the tools used and the infinite opportunities in this field. The event consisted of two online sessions followed by several tasks and challenges and an offline overnight hackathon.The overnight hackathon was conducted on the 23rd and 24th of July at the Muthoot Institute of Technology and Science.

JOB FAIR 2022

IEEE Kerala Section in association with Infopark Kochi and Group of Technology Companies (GTech) conducted JOB FAIR 2022 on 22nd and 23rd of July 2022. It was the ultimate platform for companies to choose their successors from the largest talent pool in Kerala. Aimed at refining the finest of the lot, it broadened opportunities for undergrad students, graduates and professionals alike to take a giant leap towards their lucrative career. The candidates interested in taking part in the jobfair were asked to register themselves by providing their data and resume. As part of the first round, Company specified test or advanced test based on the position applied for by the candidate was conducted in online mode. On being shortlisted after round 1, candidates were asked to attend a second round comprising of interviews presided either directly by the employer or a jury panel consisting of company representatives. This was held in an offline mode at Infopark. The event greatly received over

4200 registrations, out of which 500 candidates were shortlisted to attend the offline interview at Infopark Kochi. A total of 182 offers were extended by the 35 recruiters who participated in the offline interviews conducted on 22nd and 23rd July.

Renaissance 3.0

Renaissance 3.0 is a unique membership development initiative of the IEEE Kerala Section supported by the R10 SAC (Region 10 Student Activities Committee) under MDLT (Membership Development and Leadership Training). It officially commenced on the 8th of August, 2022. The event’s primary objective was to uplift dormant SBs and expand the membership base of existing SBs. It also aims to develop the volunteers by providing a ubiquitous view of IEEE and exposing the SBs to actively develop their membership count by giving them proper explicit knowledge about being an IEEE member. A set of talk sessions was conducted to impart the participants the required knowledge and exposure of being a volunteer. The talk sessions also included technical sessions where various procedures of working with IEEE were elaborated.

Seven talk sessions were conducted with eminent personalities who are active IEEE volunteers from various fields.Renaissance 3.0 included skill development sessions, talk sessions and competitions. To enhance and inculcate relevant skills among the students, skill development sessions were held. An interactive and actively involving conduction model was adopted rather than instructing the participants on various methods to develop skills.

CIRCUIT LISTEN UP! : The event consist of two speakers about the topics chip challenge and Circuit To Remember the topic is taken from IEEE SSCS Magazine and is led by CV KrishnanandSagar and Amal Cherian by the coordination support and involvement from the SSCS chapter, the event was made public on 16th July 2022 and was closed with 87 responses on 19th July 2022.

Zero To One: IEEE Computer Society of Amal College of Engineering hosted a hands-on workshop Zero To One:UI/UX design workshop on 21st July. Zero To

One is a program by the IEEE Computer Society at AJCE to encourage students to develop their skills in interesting fields. This will be peer-to-peer learning where IEEE Computer Society members themselves will be teaching

students. The venue for the event was the Programming lab at the Computer Science Department in the AmalJyothi College of Engineering. The session was handled by Alan James, Chair IEEE AJCE SB. He started the session with the very basics of UI/UX design and it was easy for students with prior no knowledge to follow up.

SCRATCH IT! : IEEE AJCE SB has come up with another interesting technical event for students to showcase their grip in coding. SCRATCH !T is a simple programming competition. The goal is to replicate the Google Dinosaur game innovatively. Some basic rules were set to not keep the bar too low. The best 3 projects that met all the conditions and were executed neatly were awarded. Exciting prizes are awarded. There were 15 inquisitive students of which 12 were IEEE members and the rest 3 were non-IEEE members.

IEEE SB FISAT

R.I.D.E: RIDE was an initiative for rural digital empowerment which was hosted by IEEE FISAT SB. The group of 10 volunteers reached NSS HSS Adoor on September 24 by 9:00 AM for the first day’s program. After the inauguration ceremony, the students were split into two groups based on the provided domains. The two domains were robotics and c-programming. Robotics was handled by Jose Ben who is a final year Electronics and communication engineering student at the Federal Institute of Science and Technology. He also serves as the RAS chair for the IEEE FISAT SB student representative of the RAS Kerala section. The robotics workshop drew well around 25 youngsters. Students completed a brief project that was assigned to them admirably. ARDUINO boards, Ultrasonic sensors, LDR sensors, IoT, etc were the main topics discussed during the session. The next group of students had a workshop on c programming which was handled by Rohit George and Ayisha E A, final year students of Computer Science and Engineering at the Federal Institute of Science and Technology. Students received a brief career guidance class after each session, and the event concluded with the distribution of participation certificates.

The second day’s event started with

the speech by the PanchayatMember of Adoor. The event included giving basic computer knowledge to housewives, a career guidance class to youngsters, and also a cyber security class to browse safely. Basic knowledge of google workspace was given to housewives in order to make their online browsing better. Students were given a Career-guidance class which really helped them in making the right solution for their career problems. The event ended by 5:00 PM.

Workshop on LINKEDIN: The LinkedIn workshop was held in association with Faceprep. It was a 2 hr session initiated with an aim to provide basic knowledge on LinkedIn, its various features and how to effectively make use of it for

professional needs. The event started off with an inaugural function and welcoming of the speaker who had joined the event, Mr. Pugazhendi. It provided lessons on networking as well. Also, all the members who participated in the LinkedIn workshop were provided with premium accounts of LinkedIn for 12 months, which is worth about Rs.12,000. The speaker spoke about all the various benefits LinkedIn provides. LinkedIn Premium services offer a host of benefits to the students.

IEEE SB CECTL:

How to tackle Phishing Attacks?: IEEE SB CECTL has conducted a panel discussion on the “HOW TO TACKLE THE PHISHING ATTACKS”. The event was conducted on 30th September in the Campus Auditorium. The panel

consisted of 8 members from each guild. The discussion was handled by moderators. They asked the panel a set of questions which included what is phishing, how can we identify a phishing site and scam, what are the risks of phishing ..etc and the panel discussed the points based on the question. Around 72 participants took part in the session.

IEEE SB TocH:

How to land on your dream job: Webinar conducted on 10th July 2022 at 7pm hosted by IEEE SB Toc H. The interactive session was handled by Shilpa Subramanian, Senior Software Engineer at Marks n Spencer, London. Session was conducted via Google Meet and had 40 participants. The webinar commenced at 7 PM with a welcome address. The resource personnel also shared a few anecdotes that helped her with her work journey. A questionnaire session was held at the end to answer any queries put forth by the students. The webinar was informative and provided a sense of direction to the students in order to set their future goals according to their personal targets.

IEEE MACE SB:

Stem Expo: STEM EXPO was an open event conducted by IEEE MACE SB in collaboration with IEEE PES SBC MACE aiming at students of 11th and 12th grades to get more familiarised with engineering subjects and the whole structure of the course. The event was held on the 23rd July 2022 at Mar Athanasius College of Engineering, Kothamangalam. Further, a talk session on Career Options and Introduction

to Opportunities in Engineering was taken by Prof. Benny Cherian, Retd. Faculty, MACE. After that, participating students were divided into three groups for the lab visits. All restraints regarding the event were overseen by the volunteers. Participants were introduced to Mechanical laboratories, the Fab Lab, IoT lab, Civil laboratories and the Electrical labs of MACE in two sessions each, one in the forenoon and the other in the afternoon. After the lab visits, students were taken to the Seminar Hall and a session on introduction to IEEE was taken. Besides, we also conducted networking and fun sessions that caught the attention of the participants. The event exposed participants to engineering and many got inspiration. 55 students from five different schools actively participated in the event. Responses from participants were positive in good strength.

QuizzieBuzzie: To enhance the critical thinking, problem-solving and overall programming ability of the students in C Programming, IEEE CS SBC MACE conducted a quiz competition on 28th July 2022. The quiz started at 8:15 PM (IST). It was organized on the platform Quizizz. The quiz competition was open for all, and saw participants from various colleges and different IEEE Student Branches. The event was rightly timed as the semester exam for first year students was also round the corner. The event was therefore well received by them. A lot of positive

feedback was received from the participants. A total of 36 participants actively participated.

Run Time Error: Runtime Error was a 5-day long online session organized and maintained for training firstyear students in C Programming language. The session was scheduled from 25/07/2022 to 29/07/2022. It was organized by IEEE MACE SB in collaboration with NetX MACE. The event was open to all first-year students and there was a total of 43 registrations. The mentors were provided by IEEE MACE SB and the participants were divided into groups to ensure efficiency in the teaching. Each group had a volunteer who acted as an intermediator between the mentors and the participants.

The sessions helped the participants prepare well for their semester exams. A refund program was successfully initiated for students with 100% attendance. Special doubt clearance sessions were also organized to clear the doubts among students. The event was a great success and good feedback was received from the participants.

WoW: Second talk session of WoW 3.0 (Leadership and Women Empowerment) organized by Women in Power, IEEE PES Kerala Chapter cohosted by IEEE PES Kerala Chapter, IEEE PES Women in Power R10, IEEE Women in Engineering Kerala Section, and IEEE PES SBC MACE on 26th September 2022 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM.This session aimed at creating awareness about boosting the status of women through literacy, education, training and developing nation.This event was coordinated by Ms. Irene Binnet.20 members were participated in Wow 3.0 and 10 were non-IEEE members.

IEEE SB RIT:

P2P Learning: P2P Learning is a series of peer-to-peer learning sessions initiated by the Computer Society SBC of IEEE SB RIT from 2021. The fourth chapter of the program was handled by our third year IEEE CS students. The event was conducted exclusively for the students of RIT. Around 70 students participated and the event was widely appreciated and the interactive peer-to-peer discussion proved constructive. The mentors had a better experience of teaching and interacting, which boosted

their confidence. In conclusion, this initiative was largely accepted and promoted.

ArduinoBootcamp 2.0:

IEEE SB CEC

Computing Edge: IEEE Computer Society Student Branch Chapter College of Engineering Chengannur conducted Quiz on Computing Edge based on the IEEE Computing Edge magazine. The intention of the quiz was to urge students to study technical information on a routine basis. Participants were presented with questions virtually on myquiz.org, regarding the August Edition of the magazine. The quiz was conducted on 09th September 2022 at 7 PM.

Scrapookalam: On account of the auspicious day of Onam, a festival of joy, IEEE Robotics & Automation Society Student Branch Chapter College of Engineering Chengannur, organised a competition name Scrapookkalam, wherein the participants were asked to sketch a design out of scrap electronic components leftover at their home. The scrap could have been any parts of an old machine or gadget which has ceased working. The idea was derived from the art of creating ‘pookalam’, a design of flowers which is an integral part of the Onam celebration. This event aimed to evoke creativity in students by bringing the joy of celebration with technology. The interested participants were requested to submit their entries before the specified deadline. The best three designs were appreciated with prize money.

IEEE SB SJCET

INTRO-THON: IEEE SIGHT SJCET organized a program called “INTROTHON” to create awareness among higher secondary students on the importance of engineering education. The primary goal of this event was to

give participants a general overview of engineering academia and the many tech stacks involved. The three-day event was conducted at St.Mary’s GHSS, Palai. The event was executed with a specific objective to empower rural higher secondary students with relevant knowledge and awareness regarding engineering education. Through this event, participants got an overall idea of what engineering academia is all about and what the various tech stacks associated with it are. There were a number of sessions held, including an engineering session led by Ass. Prof. Sreesg P R, a talk

about IEEE by IEEE SB SJCET Chairman - JachinBency, an Arduino workshop led by JayashankarShyam, a workshop on the Metaverse led by Gautham Krishna and AnadhuUnnikrishnan, and a managerial workshop led by Aswin Jeev Johny.

IEEE SB GECT

Recon: Communication Society of IEEE SB GEC Thrissur conducted Recon-an escape room competition. The event was conducted in two stages. The first stage was a crossword puzzle with brain teasers and puzzles and in the second stage. Eight teams were shortlisted and they were required

to solve their way out of an escape room within 10 minutes using the set of clues provided in the room. Registrations were in teams, consisting of at least 2 members and at most 3 members. There were a total of 33 team registrations, of which 14 teams had IEEE members, and the rest 19 teams consisted of non-IEEE members.

2. Malabar Hub

Malabar Hub War: IEEE Malabar Hub announced the Hub War in May 2022. And completed the first phase of Hub War consisting of three events by June 2022. In the month of July Malabar Hub conducted two more events because of the overwhelming participation from the student side as bonus events for the student branches to top the Hub War leaderboard.

Tangled: Tangled was a circuit design competition based on Tinkercad in collaboration with IEEE SB GECW. IEEE members from the Malabar hub were given a chance to show off their skills in circuit design through Tinkercad. It also gave a chance for the SB’s to improve its position in the hub war. Exciting goodies for the winners also became an attraction to the event. There were 9 participants for the event.

TechScribble: IEEE Malabar Hub in collaboration with IEEE SB Ahalia School of Engineering and Technology conducted a technical essay writing competition, TechScribble on the theme: “Applications of 5G Technology: How can it Revolutionise the Industry?”. The event had an immense participation from various student branches under Malabar Hub. Fizza Anwar Sadathof GCE Kannur bagged the first prize with her exceptional writing skills.

Webly :IEEE Malabar Hub announced the second phase of Malabar Hub War - Tackle in the month of September. Webly- a UI/UX design competition was conducted as part of it. The participants are to design the UI of a website of the given theme, An IEEE event website consisting of two or multiple workshops. The deadline of the event was on the 1st of October.

Bi-Weekly Webinar Series: IEEE Malabar Subsection conducts Bi Weekly Webinar series in collaboration with IEEE Malabar Hub and SB’s under

the hub. It is conducted in the Zoom Cloud Meeting. Participants range from student members to professional members. The events are found to be insightful and informative and it ends with a Q and A session.

Student Branch Activities :

AWH Engineering College Calicut AFZET(02.07.2022): Around 40 IEEE members attended the session.The talk session was a great opportunity for the student members to explore more about IEEE and the experience shared by the speaker encouraged the members to discover the opportunities in and around IEEE.

Government Engineering College Kozhikode:

Aadhyaksharam(03-07-2022): 43 Kudumbasree members got trained in the program from the classes presided by 5 of our student trainers. The participants were divided into a group of 10 (4 people in one group) with one WiE volunteer mentoring each of the team. They commented that the session was extremely fruitful and engaging as well. They also presented their wish for a second phase of the program

Government Engineering College Wayanad CIAO (01-07-2022): All the final year IEEE members were invited to this event for their experience sharing in volunteering. The SB branch counsellor was also engaged in having friendly conversations and wishing them the best in their future. A cake was cut in order to mark the farewell as a special one among the final year students. The students were also engaged in casual games. IEEE members from other years of study were also invited to share stories involving the final year students. Overall it was a joyful event and everyone had a good time. Tangled(02-07-2022): The event took place as a part of the ongoing hub war at the time. Tangled was a circuit design

competition based on Tinkercad. IEEE members from the Malabar hub were given a chance to show off their skills in circuit design through Tinkercad. It also gave a chance for the hub to improve it’s position in the hub war. Exciting goodies for the winners also became an attraction to the event. There were 9 participants for the event.

World Population day Photo Caption Contest: As part of WORLD POPULATION DAY, IEEE IES Society of LBSCEK organized a Photo Caption Contest with the theme “Think on and for the future” on July 12th.

Bi-Weekly Webinar Series: IEEE MSS in association with IEEE SB LBSCE jointly hosted a talk on Advances in ML and Research Issues in connection with Facial Emotion Recognition. The talk was given by Dr. Smithamol M.B., Head of the Department, Computer Science and Engineering, LBS College of Engineering, Kasaragod as part of the Malabar Subsection Section Biweekly Talk Series on August 11, 2022, from.7.30 to 8.30 PM. Around 50 participated in the session. The

program was anchored by Ms. Rithika, Link Representative IEEE SB LBSCE

LED bulb Assembling Workshop Phase 2: IEEE SB LBSCEK conducted a 2nd Phase training program on Led

Assembling for the inmates of Hosdurg Jail, Kasargod on Sep 24 as a part of helping prison inmates find selfemployment through vocational training and developing skills. A study of the working of LED circuits was given. The LED Bulbs were assembled by the interns under the auspice of Sri. Rensisam Mathew, Branch counselor IEEE SB LBSCEK was handed over to Jail superintendent Sri.Venu.

Soldering sessions on behalf of IEEE Skill delivery classes: Students were given hands-on experience on soldering as part of skill delivery sessions conducted by IEEE SB LBSCEK. This was a 2-day training session for 2nd & 3rd years handled by the IEEE members.

Design thinking competition: An activity to nourish the creative minds among IEEE volunteers was carried out on the day as many days before. The activity being a case study was

supervised by branch councilor Rensy Sam Mathew.

Volunteers who participated were divided into several groups and each group contained about two or three members. A detailed short passage about a tech city that is meant to be built on the banks of river Payaswani was given to each group and they were asked to give the top five parts of this prestigious project if they were the engineers of the same. Later each team had to speak out their answers to the rest of the teams. All the teams had shown interest in focusing on maintaining a clean and healthy atmosphere in the tech city along with using varieties of renewable energies.

Introduction to LaTex software: Behalf of S6 mini project presentation students were Introduced to LaTex software by Prof.Pramod under auspice of IEEE SB LBSCEK.LaTex is a software used for document preparation and publications.This workshop was aimed for the enhancement of student’s project preparations.

IEEE Day 2022: On behalf of IEEE DAY 2022 IEEE SB LBSCEK is planning a competition. The competition consists of a total of 5 contests,which includes a photography contest, an online collage making contest, an

online movie quiz, a creative corner and an offline debate. Students can participate as a team of five. There will be points awarded to first,second and third position holders of each contest. The 2 teams with most points after the 4 online events will face off against each other in a debate competition, which will be the final on October 7.The registration of teams was completed and the theme for the first contest, photography competition, was announced. The rest is hoped to happen as planned.

M.Dasan Institute of Technology

ONLINE TUG OF WAR: IEEE SB MDIT Student Activity Committee conducted an online tug of war under the event series SAC HOURS. The war started on 23rd September 7pm having 4 teams compete each other on Instagram for votes. The final competition was held on 24th September between 2 groups who secured most votes. Group 4- spectrum won the tug of

war competition with 102 votes. All members in 4 groups actively participated in the event.

Mind scribbling event: IEEE SAC conducted an event “Mind scribbling” thirty members from Four SAC groups participated in the event held on September 27 from 7 pm to 8 pm. MuhammedNaseef K M S7 EEE was declared the winner by answering four out of four questions correctly.

ONLINE PHOTO EDITING COMPETITION: IEEE SB MDIT Student Activity Committee conducted an online Photo editing competition under the event series SAC HOURS. The competition started on 28rd September 7pm having members of 4 teams compete individually . A total of (number) students from S A C group has participated in the competition. The final output of the edited photograph should be submitted 24 hours from the start of competition and the results will be published on IEEE day of October 4. Winners are selected by a qualified judging panel. (name of student) from (grp name) won the photo editing competition. All members in 4 groups actively participated in the event.

Travncore

Travancore - Student Branch Activities Report onTeZvaux - Travancore Hub War 2022 Event Overview: The Travancore Hub War 2022 TeZvauxwas successfully conducted between 08June-2022 and 16-July-2022 with a total of 22 events conducted in collaboration with various student branches in Travancore Hub. The Hub War promoted a greater impact on the inter-relation between various student branches and also helped

them to layout how to conduct events in a full-fledged manner. A total of 25 student branches were grouped into 5 clusters with both active and dominant SB’s clubbed together. The event had a huge response from student members witha total of 1000+ participants which emphasises the team spirit of the event.

TeZvaux had events from various domains including Technology, Software, Hardware structures, Humanitarian Activities, Content writing, Designing and Public Speaking which sought to provide a full fledged experience to the members to develop their specific potential apart from the academics. A leaderboard was maintained to amplify the spirit of participants in various clusters which had a total score of 4291. Out of the 5 Clusters, cluster 2 bagged the first position with 1138 points followed by cluster 4 and cluster 5.

IEEE SB COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING ADOOR

SPECTRUM TALK :IEEE SB CEA had its

much awaited spectrum talk on 22th September 2022 from 4:30 pm – 5:30 pm. The event was held at Seminar Hall, CEA. The event had the gracious presence of Dr. Jayachandran E S (Branch Counselor IEEE SB CEA) and Dr. John George (Advisor PES and IAS-IES Jt SB Chapters IEEE SB CEA).The event started with the Code of Ethics by Ms. Irene Alsa George, Secretary,IEEE SB CEA. The welcome speech was delivered by Mr. Sujith Kumar A (Chair IEEE SB CEA). The event began with Mr. Jesvin Mathew Vincent’s interactive and innovation talk on the topic Manganese: The Secret behind truly mass market ev Followed by the presentation of Ms. Jetty Ann Reji on the topic Haptic Feedback in virtual reality. The event received great response from all students and staff, and proved to be a very informative event.

IEEE SB LBS INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY FOR WOMEN POOJAPPURA

INAUGURATION OF SSCS STUDENT CHAPTER: The inaugural ceremony of the IEEE SSCS commenced at 6:45 PM (IST) on September 23rd, 2022 with the welcome address by Ms. Sandra P P, Vice-Chair IEEE SB LBSITW. The

entire session was anchored by Ms. Athira E, Chairperson, of IEEE RAS SBC LBSITW.The program was followed by enlightening the students about the purpose and importance of such a society by Dr. Jayamohan J, Principal in Charge, LBSITW. Eventually, the longawaited Official inauguration of the new IEEE SBC LBSITW SSCS EXECOM was welcomed by our Chief Guest, Prof. MuhammedKasim, S Vice-Chair, IEEE Kerala Section, Founder-Chair, IEEEEdSoc Kerala Chapter. A warm and affectionate felicitation was done by Prof. Suma Sekhar, HOD Department of ECE, LBSITW. And finally, the Official welcoming of the new IEEE SBC LBSITW SSCS EXECOM members was done by Prof. Nandan S, Faculty Advisor, SSCS SB Chapter LBSITW. This was followed by the addressing of Ms. GowriSree S U, Chair, IEEE SSCS SB Chapter LBSITW and the Annual Plan Release by Ms. Gayathri A S, Secretary, IEEE SSCS SB Chapter LBSITW.Along with the inauguration ceremony, an expert talk session was conducted by Mr. Sooraj. R, Associate Professor, Department of Avionics, IIST Trivandrum on the topic ‘Introduction to Optical Interconnects’. In the end, the Vote of Thanks was given by Ms. Aleena Rooby Technical Coordinator, IEEE SSCS SB Chapter LBSITW.R=The event had a total of 100 participants

IEEE MBCET SB

Young Wizards: Young wizards was a school outreach program organized by Mar Baselios College of Engineering and Technology(Autonomous), hosted by IEEE MBCET SB in collaboration with the Outreach Cell of MBCET on 2thJuly, 2022 from 9 AM to 5 PM. The main aim of the event was to bring a scope of fun learning and a quest for the latest technological trends for school students. Through this event the students were able to explore the latest technologies along with having a fun time exploring the college campus and participating in the wide variety of games which were arranged for them. The event was a grand success with active participation from students.

ERUDITE SCHOLAR PROGRAMME- Promoting Research and Innovation in the Contemporary Times in Higher Education: In association with the institutions innovation council, IEEE PES SBC MBCET has organised a talk session on Promoting Research and Innovation in the Contemporary Times in Higher Education on 14th july 2022 at 3:00 PM. The talk was delivered by PROF.SIVAJI CHAKRAVORTI. The session was monitored by HOD,EEEDept and other faculty members. The speaker discussed the application of research and experimentations in Higher Education in depth. The session was very productive and interactive. The talk was attended by almost 80 students.

IEEE SB MARIAN ENGINEERING COLLEGE

Let’s Blendr: Let’s Blendr is an online workshop on 3D modelling using Blender in collaboration with Tinkerhub MEC. The event was hosted by Abhinav P Kumar(Chair IEEE SB MCE) and Vishnu V S(Tech Lead IEEE SB MCE) on 18 August 2022.The event aimed to give an idea and understanding of 3D modelling and to teach the community how to use a tool called blender. It also helped to achieve a practical approach to 3D modelling. The event was pulled of successfully and had almost 52 Participants.

PCB DESIGNING COMPETITION :As a part of Travancore Hub war ‘TeZvaux’, IEEE SB MCE Chirayinkeezhu has conducted a pcb designing competition on 6th July 2022. The programme was a great success with huge interaction from student members who are passionate in this domain. Both Session and Hub level winners were declared and winner posters were released.

IEEE SB TKM INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY

TECHNICAL ARTICLE WRITING COMPETITION: IEEE SB TKMIT in collaboration with Travancore Hub War, TeZvaux conducted a Technical Article Writing Competition on 9th July. The event was open to all IEEE members. The last date of submission of the abstracts was on 9th July 2022 at 12.00 PM. A total of five students participated in the competition. Later, the overall and Travancore Hub winners were announced. Reshma B from Mohandas Institute of Management bagged the first prize. The second position was grabbed by Vishnupriya G from SreeChitraThirunal College of Engineering. Jery Francis from TKM Institute of Technology secured the third prize.

WEBINAR ON PACEMAKER/ IMPLANTABLE CARDIOVERTER DEFIBRILLATOR: As a part of doctor’s day, IEEE EMBS SB TKMIT conducted a webinar on Pacemaker/Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator. The speaker of the session was medical safety physician DrJerilVarghese(MBBS, MMST). The webinar was from 12:10 pm to 1.00 pm on 1st July 2022 and was conducted via Google meet and had 62 participants. The webinar was also streamed live and participants from TKMIT attended it in the EC seminar hall.

IEEE SB UKFCET

Off_the_cuff: IEEE SB UKFCET in collaboration with IEEE Travancore Hubwar, TeZvaux had organized an extempore “Off_the_cuff” on 12th July 2022. Extempore provided a set of technical topics for the participants. Each registrant got the topic before they joined the Google meet. Each participant got a minimum of 5 minutes for the presentation. Out of 5 Two minutes we were given for preparation and three minutes for presentation. The event is conducted via Google meet. The participants switched on their video and audio. The judgesfound it very taxing to select the best three students from all the 12 passionate participants. They were judged on the criteria of content, fluency, voice modulation, and body language. The students showed great fervour and poise in their respective presentations. The competition concluded successfully with great words of encouragement and appreciation from both the respected judges.The Winner Poster was released on 9 th August 2022. The event provided a worthy platform for participants to analyse and refine their technical knowledge. In addition, they got a wonderful opportunity to showcase their talent. This event provided motivational strategies to support their talents in presentation and provided a worthy platform for students to overcome their fear of public speaking. It also helped to share information on various relevant technical topics. And, also helped to improve their presentation and communication skills.
