What defines San Antonio? More than just the bustling River Walk, the historical Missions, and even the booming population that places it seventh (soon to be sixth) in the nation, it’s the community-driven, entrepreneurial people that make up the Faces of San Antonio. The most ambitious and innovative of those people lead the city’s business community in a variety of industries. From medical and marketing, to education and esthetics, here, San Antonio Magazine gives them the spotlight to tell their stories.

LONE STAR BEER Face of Texas Beer

“Lone Star Brewing Co., the makers of Lone Star Beer “The National Beer of Texas” and Lone Star Texas Light Beer, has been proudly brewing beer in Texas since 1884. Lone Star Brewing Co. is owned by Pabst Brewing Company, one of America’s largest independently owned brewing companies. Lone Star Brewing Co is proud to be born & raised in San Antonio, TX. San Antonio isn’t just where Lone Star started, it’s where Lone Star lives loudest. Nowhere is that more true than during San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo season and Fiesta, the

two times of year when the city itself becomes the brand’s biggest stage. Rodeo season brings the boots, the barbecue, and the crowds Lone Star was made for while Fiesta brings the color, the music, and the block-party spirit that’s pure San Antonio. Through both, Lone Star is the beer in hand & proof that San Antonio isn’t just Lone Star’s hometown, it’s Lone Star’s heartbeat.” — Mark Champion,

Sr. Brand Manager of Marketing Lone Star Beer

TEXAS SKIN & VEIN Face of Vein Care

Night cramps, dull aches, heaviness, swelling, restless legs, visible varicose veins: don’t assume it’s just part of aging. These are frequently overlooked signs of vein disease. Many people live with the symptoms for years, or develop skin discoloration and other complications as the disease progresses — and it doesn’t have to go that way. Newer, minimally invasive procedures can dramatically improve these symptoms without surgery. Because vein disease is a medical problem and not a cosmetic one, health insurance often covers treatment. For patients whose concerns are cosmetic, a range of solutions is available to

improve the appearance of the legs as well. Timothy Straight, MD, PhD, is board certified in both Dermatology gy y and Venous & Lymphatic Medicine — a dual certification that lets him treat vein disease as a medical condition and address how your legs look, in the same practice. A nationally invited speaker and published author, he has helped thousands of San Antonio patients finally do something about their vein problems.

TRANQUILITY TMS CENTER Face of Medication-Free Depression Treatment

Established by Dr. Martin in 2014, Tranquility TMS Center offers San Antonio patients a thoughtful, medication-free alternative for major depression relief. As a Board Certified Psychiatrist serving children, adolescents, and adults, Dr. Martin brings a holistic view of wellness to patients seeking another path forward. For patients who have not found relief with medication alone, Tranquility offers NeuroStar TMS, a non-invasive magnetic therapy designed to stimulate targeted areas of the brain involved in mood regulation. NeuroStar TMS gained FDA clearance in 2008, is approved by most insurance plans and demonstrated that 83% of patients experience measurable relief while 62% experience full remission. [Sackeim HA, et al. (2020). J Affect Disord, 277:65 74]

The process begins with a free consultation before an initial assessment and mapping by Dr. Martin. During treatment, patients remain awake and alert while receiving interv rvals v of rapid magnetic pulses. This stimulation process has been equated to a safe and effective physical therapy for the brain’ in that each session strengthens healthy neural pathways. Visits take place in-office over several weeks, without anesthesia or downtime, with patients encouraged to read, listen to music, or talk with the clinical coordinator to better understand what to expect before, during and after therapy. ME VIDA MARKETING Face of Strategic Marketing

HELPING BUSINESSES BUILD BRA RANDS A THAT CONNECT, GROW AND LAST. For Judi Delgado-Hooks, effective marketing begins long before an advertisement is placed or a campaign is launched. It begins with understanding the business, identifying the right audience and creating a clear strategy that connects every marketing decision to a meaningful goal. After more than two decades leading marketing, brand and client-service initiatives for some of Texas’ most recognized organizations, Judi created Me Vida Marketing to bring a high level of experienced, strategic leadership directly to businesses seeking a more thoughtful approach to growth. Through Me Vida Marketing, Judi works alongside business owners and leadership teams to clarify their goals, strengthen their brands and develop integrated marketing plans that bring together the right combination of messaging, media, digital strategy and community engagement.

Her approach is deliberately personal and hands-on. A San Antonio-based, Latina-owned consultancy, Me Vida Marketing is grounded in the belief that the best marketing does more than generate attention. It creates meaningful connections between businesses and the people they are meant to serve. PALO ALTO COLLEGE Face of Visionary Educational Leadership

Under the leadership of President Dr. Robert Garza, Palo Alto College has become a driving force for workforce development on San Antonio’s Southside. By building strong partnerships with industry, the college anticipates regional workforce needs and creates innovative educational pathways that prepare students for high-demand careers. Together, these programs give students

the skills they need to thrive while strengthening the regional economy. LAS PALAPAS Face of Tex-Mex

For 45 years in San Antonio, Tex-Mex has had a familiar name: Las Palapas. CEO Wayne Detmar wants to keep it that way, and take it further. “Value starts with the food and the service. Get those right every time, and a fair price turns a good meal into a great deal,” Detmar says. That promise is harder than it sounds. Anyone can price a menu for weeknight families. Holding the quality while you do it is where most restaurants give in. Las Palapas serves Certified Angus

Beef fajitas, makes its salsas and tortillas in house, and runs breakfast all day, every day. Every one of those costs more than the shortcut, and the company keeps paying the difference. Detmar came to the brand as an investor 15 years ago, drawn by its loyal following and room to grow. Now CEO, he has raised the standard and assembled a team to match it: seasoned operators with the experience to carry a 45-yearold name to another level.

The growth is already charted. Houston and Dallas come first, two of the largest Tex-Mex markets in the country. From there, Detmar is looking well beyond Texas. The brand is not the one the city met in the eighties. The early restaurants were smaller and simpler. Today’s fit how families and commuters live: full bars, patios, big dining rooms, and drive-throughs for the morning rush. Breakfast taco boxes and family packs cover the nights nobody wants to cook.

Community is where that shows up off the plate. Las Palapas gives back to nonprofits across San Antonio, among them the 100 Club, which supports families of fallen first responders; Christie’s Hope, which helps women and children leaving abusive homes; and the South Texas Alliance for Orphans, among many others. It also backs local institutions from the YMCA to UTSA, where it is a top athletic sponsor. A few years ago, Las Palapas had no loyalty program. The LP Club changed that: the company’s app tracks points on every dollar and unlocks specials every Monday and Wednesday, part of a steady push to bring the brand’s technology up to the standard of its food. Regulars, treated like regulars.

LASPALAPAS.COM Forty-five years is not a finish line. It is proof the formula works, and a reason to take it further. Same standard, more tables, more cities.

INTEGRITY ROOFING & SIDING Face of Protecting What Matters Most

Ronnie Suarez leads Integrity Roofing & Siding with a simple philosophy: “Doing it right costs more up front. Doing it wrong costs everything later.” That belief has guided his company for more than 20 years, earning the trust of homeowners and building owners across San Antonio through honest recommendations, quality craftsmanship, and a commitment to doing the job the right way the first time. A lifelong San Antonio resident, Ronnie built Integrity Roofing & Siding on the idea that protecting a home means protecting the families who live inside it. From roofing, siding, windows, and gutters to complete exterior renovations and storm restoration, every project begins with a complimentary consultation, a thorough assessment,

and a transparent estimate so homeowners understand every option before making a decision. Ronnie’s commitment to San Antonio extends far beyond the homes his company serves. As Rey Feo 78, he has dedicated the coming year to championing education and investing in the future of the city’s youth. “We have a responsibility for the next generation, and that’s why education is at the center of everything we are doing as Rey Feo,” he says. Through scholarships, community partnerships, and service initiatives, Ronnie continues to demonstrate that leadership is measured not only by business success, but by the lives you impact and the community you help build.

For Ronnie, integrity is more than a company name. It’s the principle that has guided his business, his leadership, and his service to San Antonio for more than two decades.
