“Do not go where the path may lead; go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.” This call to courage and imagination reflects the heart of the many supporters we have had the privilege to walk alongside this year. Generosity shaping a future where new paths are forged and charitable visions inspire future generations to create their own trail. Contributions combined with investment returns exceeded $55 million to 515 funds. Donors helped make possible an incredible $18 million in grants in 2025 - each one fueling hope, strengthening organizations, and advancing causes that matter most to them.
We were reminded just how deeply our community cares, when the San Angelo area experienced an unprecedented flood on July 4, 2025. We watched the community join together with unwavering compassion, ensuring that no neighbor faced this crisis alone.
San Angelo Gives continued the momentum, raising over $4 million for nonprofits across the Concho Valley. This extraordinary day of giving has become a cornerstone for giving, igniting the collective power of neighbors helping neighbors. On May 5, 2026, we look forward to another day when generosity shines brightly and every gift—large or small—helps move our community forward.

WHERE PERSEVERANCE Inspires Generosity
At the age of 18, Martha Pool Elder was excited for the next chapter in life as she was making plans to attend Baylor University. Her plans came to a halt when she was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. Faced with the realization that her life might never be the same and told she would most likely be wheelchair bound, Martha knew the decision was to either push forward with heart, find joy in life and persevere, or let her diagnosis define her future. She went on to Baylor, obtained her speech and language education degree, and never looked back. For more than 40 years, Martha inspired students, pouring into each one with sincere care for their success.
Witnessing her parents give back to the community and rooted in the belief that generosity has the power to transform lives, Martha’s journey is a powerful testament to encouraging others to do what you can, where you are, with what you have. With a persevering heart, Martha has worked with the San Angelo Area Foundation to establish philanthropic priorities that truly transform our community today, tomorrow, and forever - Leaving a trail of good for others to follow.

In the early morning hours of July 4, 2025, many of our neighbors were awakened by rising water entering their home, causing major devastation. More than 14 inches of rain accumulated and in a matter of a few hours, homes in our community were being swept away and evacuations began to bring neighbors to safety. As one of the many critical philanthropic efforts needed to support those impacted by this disaster, the San Angelo Area Foundation utilized our ability to quickly manage and award emergency grants to neighbors in need through our disaster relief fund. As waters receded and armed with a sense of hope, Concho Valley Together - Long Term Recovery Group in partnership with community organizations was formed to ensure support for neighbors whose recovery continues. We will continue standing in the gap for neighbors and over the past nine months, we have witnessed a groundswell of compassion, restoring hope one home and one heart at a time.

In the first 200 days has been awarded in emergency grants to impacted neighbors and community partners to provide assistance with repair and rebuilding costs.
Local businesses were also impacted by this flood. Grants included made available for businesses with physical property damage through the LiftFund, ensuring a strong economic infrastructure of resilience

Garrison Michalewicz, a 2025 Wall High School graduate, found his future career with one spark of a welding torch. Learning to weld has become a passion and the reason he chose to pursue his associate degree in Welding Technology at Texas State Technical College in Abilene, Texas. While in high school, Garrison honed his welding skills by participating in Wall FFA, entering Ag Mechanic projects in stock shows across the state. For Garrison, it is not just about welding, it is about building a future where his talents will have a true impact for generations. Garrison shared, “I like that welding can be used to build bridges, fix machines, or even make art.” Each year, the San Angelo Rotary Club recognizes students who exemplify the clubs Service-Above-Self mantra awarding scholarships to deserving students.
As a reflection of his desire to impact others, Garrison became a certified TEEX Firefighter I and II shortly after his 18 birthday. He currently serves as a volunteer with the Wall VFD and his selfless courage played a pivotal role in a swift water rescue during the July 4th flood response. His journey is a testament to the power of pursuing one ’ s passion. As he continues his education, Garrison is positioned to be successful in his field and his heart for others is leaving a trail of good for generations to follow.
The San Angelo Rotary Club established an endowed scholarship fund in 2003 and has awarded over $140,000 to local students. This Service-Above-Self legacy is creating a path for students like Garrison.

A look at what a SAAF grant can do
Concho Valley Regional Food Bank can provide support to children that have been identified as having food insecurities over the weekend when they do not have access to school lunches and breakfast through the Food2kids program. This program means that children will not show up to school on Monday desperate for a meal. On average, 1,200 bags are provided to kids across the Concho Valley each week and are made available to households in transition or facing crisis.
Frontera Healthcare Network - Brady Clinic is able to provide healthcare access in a rural and medically underserved region of the Concho Valley through renovation of a clinic located in McCulloch county. As a community health center, this expansion aims to reduce barriers to care and address the social and economic factors that impact health.
San Angelo Early Childhood Center is able to provide critical tuition assistance for families in need of child care, ensuring equitable access to quality early childhood education. This type of support eases the financial burden for families who struggle to afford quality childcare, limiting their ability to work or pursue education. Access to high-quality early childhood education is a proven pathway to long-term success ensuring vulnerable children receive the foundational education needed for lifelong learning.
Water Valley Volunteer Fire Department can respond to structure and grass fires across Tom Green, Coke, and Sterling Counties with the acquisition of a fast attack truck. Covering 289 square miles, reliable emergency equipment is essential for effective fire containment in challenging terrain. Additionally, a dryer cabinet for personal protective equipment (PPE) ensures that firefighters remain safe and healthy by removing contaminants from PPE after exposure.

The first Tuesday in May is a chance to witness the overwhelming generosity of our community and an opportunity for every person to play a role in shaping a greater Concho Valley. Over the past 11 years, community givers have come together for more than 260 organizations in one of the most energy filled displays of generosity and hour by hour, we inch toward reaching milestones beyond our imagination - raising $30 million since inception. This support is a testament to the deep desire the Concho Valley has to see our region thrive. Local organizations are standing in the gap for those who need it most and through San Angelo Gives, a simple $10 gift can turn to millions reinforcing the power of collective giving. There is no shortage of need for causes in the Concho Valley and with each gift, this powerful day has a ripple effect of good.
