My Profession In Sculpture

During 2018-2020 I was major in metal , I chose the way which have a opportunity to get closer to Architecture .In addition to learn some skill , I can grab a number of knowledge about metal handcraft .

METAL ATTITUDE

Me & Metal

My first impression of metal is that it is noisy and hot, the teachers are strict, it is extremely painful to work at high temperatures during a lesson, the bright light from welding is uncomfortable.

The dust inhaled from cutting metal is very toxic, and you have to wear a high quality mask, the noisy sound of metal can even make you tired of hearing and you have to put on ear muffs, and you have to be wrapped up all over, and of course, you will be sweating excessively, and your sweat will have a yellow color, which is the rust from the iron powder sticking to your body when it meets water. The yellowish color of your sweat is due to the rusting of the iron powder that sticks to your body when it encounters water.

05

It's a very difficult environment to create in, but metal has its own attraction that other groups don't have. In addition to learning a lot of knowledge, the material world of metal is also far-flung, and the material itself can be processed in many ways, and metal also plays a certain importance in other media.

ARCHITECTURE IS MY MAP

I came up with my methodology and discovered my favorite themes from the metal works in my junior year of college. As for the conceptual aspects, there were many different routes, but the main axis was the same, thinking about the relationship between people and architecture. Not until did I l create the small scale building ,I began caring about the relationship between people and architecture .I like to admire how architectures could be such a amazing ,however, I changed when I discover more meaning behind the building.

07

IThe first time I created an architecture-related work was a flat painting, which was purely a drawing of a building I liked and one I designed on the same plane to form a skyline, and it was really just a pure liking, and whenever I came across a favorite building, I would draw it on the same plane. Whenever I came across a building I liked, I would go crazy and take pictures of it.

But now that I have learned a lot in the field of art, I know a lot of things, and I am no longer just a person who loves to take pictures of buildings. I now want to utilize what I have learned to create something that expresses my understanding and passion for architecture.

08

"THINK OUTSIDE THE METAL"

Material is the most amazing thing in the world, it has a strong plasticity, and I can only realize this feeling when I create. When I want to control it, I have to have a certain understanding of the material, but it's not an instantaneous thing, when I have an understanding of the material, it will inspire me to change or combine the material, and try to find a way to make two different things collide and clash with each other. Material is an important part of my work. Material is an important source of inspiration for me, and at the same time, creation is also the only channel to understand things. The existence of objects allows me to realize many things I could not imagine in the past, and through the act of sculpture, many things I took for granted will be changed, and the collision of different materials can bring out different aspects of problems.

METAL"

MOLDING

After contacting with clay, we know silicone, plaster and FRP fiberglass because of mold turning. Usually when we turn the mold, we will decide what material we want to use for the finished product, and then the object to be turned will decide the material of the outer film, and some of the materials can't be unmolded from each other even if we apply isolation agent. And the complexity of the content will also determine the outer film you want to turn.

FRP fiberglass has an appealing heterogeneity, the fluidity of the material allows it to stretch freely. In a completely manual situation, the control of FRP fiberglass has a certain range, sometimes more than I expected, almost impossible to achieve 100% perfection, and that's what I think is the most fascinating thing about FRP, silicone materials.

11

ABOUT ISSUE

causing the collapse of many houses in Tainan, the most serious of which was the Weiguan Jinlong Building in the Yongkang District, resulting in 115 deaths. When the news broke in the future, I learned that it was collapsed because of human relationship, I was very angry at that time, so there was a person for money, for the sake of profit, made jerry-building so hurtful things, I projected my emotion to this whole story into this work, and used the material of the reinforcement bar to transform into silica gel, implying that the contractor lost his meaning in his position, did not do his job faithfully. It's as if the rebar in this piece is no longer rebar.

12
13

BREAK RULES

There must be ainertia on the earth . When things break their original state , however ,their existence turn into higher worthwhile. Only human beings can be a role who giving such a state to them. To be able to recreate something or change its original state is something that can only be achieved through constantly research and explore.

I have been learning various media since I university period . Although knowing there is a fixed way to utilize them , I try to break the definition of their condition. Not only transform different textures between the real and the fake. For exa but also the movement between the useful and the useless, to create another reality between different choices.

14

EXHIBITATION IN ABANDONED FACTORY

The reason why I create my artwork by considering about my surroundings and the objects in my life . Everything I did is not just for fun, of course it's important to have fun, but in fact there are a lot of unknowns about the diversity of the environment. I see people abusing the internet in times of huge technological evolvelution, like the computer automated drawing software, known as AI ,where you can generate nice picture in the style you want .

15
16
17

SPACES CREATION

Nowadays people create staff without feeling with your heart. After I realize this kind circustance here is a iconic Architect came up to my mind .Whenever Renzo Piano receives a new commission, he always goes to the site to observe the environment and spends days on sketching it, which is his source of inspiration and also a rite for searching.

HAND MAKING

Fascinated with hand making

I have always been fascinated by the transformation of reality into surrealistic gestures, but in the first half of the university, there was no way for me to give full play to my imagination, and everything was arranged by the school to come into contact with a lot of media, among which clay is the most common media in the sculpture department, as long as the sculpture students must have the ability to mold, and we kept simulating the plaster casts day and night, to train the sensitivity of our hands and intuition. We work day and night to simulate plaster casts, training our hands to be sensitive and intuitive. If I had to hold a ruler to measure every portrait or plaster statue, it would affect my enjoyment of the molding process. Therefore, I try my best to judge the proportion of the human features and the changes of the convexity and concavity through my eyes, of course, there are always mistakes, but in the repeated training over and over again, the thinking of the brain is transferred to the hands silently, and sometimes just by reflex action, I know exactly what to do.

It was not until I came into contact with the sculpture that I began to want to be active and learn on my own. Impressed by the sculpture, I was arranged to do some exercises or creations every day at school, and as a result, I would find opportunities to do what I wanted to do after school, and would ask my seniors if I had any questions about what I didn't know.

Slowly, when I became more mature, I wanted to do more and more things, and the things I wanted to do became bigger and bigger. Originally, in my sophomore year of college, I started from a piece of leaf molding to a piece of tree trunk, and now I have turned it into an object of my home life.

Not only metal welding, but also woodworking objects I am gradually getting in touch with. It is amazing that the way I think has to be experienced by my hands to connect the knowledge to my brain, and I am beginning to realize that my hands are a wonderful part of the human body, as if they are leading me to more things while thinking.

19

I sculpt in my life, but my life is very difficult to sculpt. In response to my inability to fully control my life, to survive with things that are arranged, to prove the meaning of my existence, I began to use my sculpting hands to try to sculpt life, and gradually my thinking about sculpture entered the life level.

20
21
SCULPT HOME

From my own living environment and thoughts as the starting point of my creation, it is also my great desire to present another side of sculpture. The integration of sculpture into people's living environment is actually a way for me to understand the value of how people look at things.

Whether individual sculpture objects or objects that can be linked with home, the perspective that it define all depend on each person.

If my life is invove with sculpture, so that my life is not absolute, and of course sculpture is not either.

SITE

This home project started from the perspective of sculpture, which to me is not only a sculpture that can be viewed from 360 degrees. In making a sculpture of such a large scale, I began to think about how to allow the viewer to appreciate the work from various angles. Eventually, I chose the location at the entrance of the school, and the building was placed on a 12-meter-high ceiling, so that viewers from different floors and classrooms could see it from different heights and angles.·

OBJECT_01 - DOOR

The room is a vessel for growth, and the door expresses the state of trepidation and stress that accumulates inside the room.

I created this image because of the accumulation of stress and the outbreak of the epidemic, which locking up everyone in their own rooms, and the experience of being forced to be locked up in a room made me create this door.

OBJECT_02 - Windows High 122cm

The epidemic trapped my life, in the low tide of depression, the scenery outside the window was the only way I could see the world, that window is really very important, the feeling at that time is still fresh in my mind .

I changed the form of the conventional windows of the building ,making windows has a kind of visual effect that as if viewers are looking at the painting, so I chose to use the method of elimination to combine the original frame of the window with the wall as a single entity, which means it seems to be a fake in the painting, but in reality, it is the existence of the transcendence of the real.

OBJECT_04 - TREE

The tree has endless interesting shapes, and its free growth attracts me deeply, I have an idea to create a tree chair that also has endless interesting shapes. I let the FRP fiberglass with fluidity flow freely in the model through the characteristics of silicone, and then use wire to sculpt the shape I want to portray the state of harmony between human beings and nature.

I was so curious about this tree object in the open space, moving into the interior room, meanwhile transform into the different material which will influence the whole room and change existence of trees in the human life.

Even though the tree has no precise purpose, and people can put their own spin on whether it is to be admired or used .

Deconstructing objects is my way to understand the material. The Object Lamp is the most deconstructive piece of furniture in this home. This object is disassembled from the legs of the American style table and reassembled into the form of a lamp, and it breaks through the size of the home's scale even more closely by breaking through the skylight's edge. The height of the furniture redefine the scale of the home, and the scope of the home is the same as the

range of illumination of the lamp, as long as the light can irradiate place is home. This standing lamp is like a street lamp, which can guide people on street the direction, so the height of the lamp is intentionally higher than the wall of the room . The lamp that does not seem to exist in the room is actually a part of the home, and it is also an important factor in integrating this home into the environment.

OBJECT_05 - EXTENSION CORD

Reinforcement is one of the symbols in architecture, and in the past I have often made sculptures with reinforcing bars, but this time, during the creation of "Home", I have been thinking about how to connect the work with the wall, and I immediately thought of the objects on the wall, so the socket and

the extension cord appeared in the form of a socket. The cables are covered by silicone reinforcing bars, and the arbitrary deformation of the bars is very interesting and adds some sensibility to the work. The rebar exposed from the damaged wall is soft instead of the hard metal rebar in the past.

Why I use non-primitive materials is an important part of my work because I think human beings lack real feelings and empathy, so I use a kind of betrayed way of thinking to subvert some of the things we used to have and recreate them with the concept of readymade objects.

OBJECT_08 - PROTOTYPE

This is the prototype of my room from the very beginning. This round shape came out of my imagination when I needed to be alone, I imagined a scale that could accommodate me alone, and a half-open opening that would allow me to get in touch with the outside environment and relax my mood.

At the beginning, I started

to think in terms of a scale related to my body, but later I decided to think in terms of the things around me, so I added the elements that would appear in the house little by little, and gradually redefined the space through each work.
