Launching Campus Edge Baseball In 2025, Sam established Campus Edge Baseball, a recruiting and advisory company dedicated to supporting student-athletes throughout the college baseball recruiting process. The organization was founded to provide personalized guidance while helping athletes better understand the opportunities available to them at the collegiate level.

Through Campus Edge Baseball, he has developed a recruiting platform that connects athletes with schools aligned with their academic and athletic goals. The platform includes athlete profiles, recruiting databases, school research tools, coach directories, and strategic planning resources. These tools help athletes present themselves effectively and navigate the recruiting process with greater confidence.

As Chief Executive Officer, Menzin oversees all aspects of company operations. His responsibilities include sales management, marketing initiatives, website development, social media strategy, financial oversight, analytics, client onboarding, and NCAA compliance. He also maintains relationships with college coaches and showcases organizations throughout the country to create additional recruiting opportunities for athletes.

His approach relies heavily on technology and data. Through recruiting analytics, video optimization, and targeted communication campaigns, he works to increase athletes' exposure while providing families with clear, practical support.

Involvement in Sports Advisory Services In addition to leading Campus Edge Baseball, Sam serves as an analyst with Woods Capital and operates SJM Sports as founder and principal. These roles allow him to advise investors, ownership groups, and private equity firms involved in sports-related projects and opportunities.

His consulting work focuses on sports asset evaluation, organizational strategy, and operational planning. Drawing upon his experience within professional baseball organizations, he helps stakeholders understand both the competitive and business aspects of the sports industry. His ability to combine analytical thinking with practical experience has become an important part of his professional identity.

Through these efforts, Menzin continues to contribute to the broader sports business landscape while remaining closely connected to athlete development and baseball operations.

Inspiration Through Baseball Sam's passion for baseball developed early in life and continued to grow as he became interested in the sport's strategic side. During his teenage years, reading Moneyball introduced him to baseball analytics and the impact of data-driven decision-making. The concepts explored in the book encouraged him to think differently about player evaluation, team building, and organizational success.

That interest followed him to Swarthmore College, where he spent four years on the varsity baseball team. During his collegiate career, he demonstrated strong sportsmanship and teamwork, earning the 2012 Centennial Conference Sportsmanship Award. The experience helped shape the leadership qualities and work ethic that would later support his professional accomplishments.

While attending college, Menzin also worked at the Complete Game Institute as Assistant Director. His responsibilities included managing the Pitching Biomechanics Facility, coordinating pitching camps, and utilizing high-speed video technology. This role provided valuable exposure to athlete development and performance evaluation.

Building a Foundation Through Internships Several internships helped prepare him for future leadership roles in professional baseball. His experience with the New York Mets involved work in Corporate Sales, where he assisted with client relations, sales support, event coordination, corporate activations, and stadium experiences. This opportunity provided insight into the business operations of a major professional sports organization.

Sam also spent two years with Turner-Gary Sports in Baseball Operations. During this period, he gained experience in salary arbitration preparation, player representation support, market analysis, and free-agent strategy. The position helped him develop a deeper understanding of contracts and negotiation processes. In addition, he contributed to statistical analysis and website development.

In 2012, Menzin joined the Detroit Tigers as a Baseball Operations intern. His responsibilities included preparing salary arbitration materials, supporting negotiation research, evaluating player data, and analyzing potential acquisition opportunities. This experience became the starting point for a long and successful career within the organization.

Advancing Through the Detroit Tigers Organization His career with the Detroit Tigers spanned 14 years and reflected a consistent pattern of professional growth. Beginning as an intern, Sam advanced through several positions, including analyst, coordinator, and director, before being promoted to Vice President and Assistant General Manager in 2021.

As an executive, he supervised departments that included scouting, player performance, medical operations, and player experience. His work involved player acquisitions, salary arbitration matters, contract negotiations, and strategic planning initiatives. These responsibilities required collaboration across multiple areas of the organization.

Menzin also managed more than $100 million in capital investment initiatives. During periods of leadership transition, he served in key organizational roles that required coordination and oversight. His ability to balance operational responsibilities with long-term strategic goals contributed significantly to his advancement within the organization.

Education and Continued Learning Education has remained a priority throughout his career. Sam earned a Bachelor of Arts in History with a minor in Psychology from Swarthmore College. Menzin is currently pursuing an Executive Master of Business Administration at Baruch College's Zicklin School of Business and is expected to graduate in 2027. The program supports his continued development as a business leader and complements his extensive professional experience.

Raised in Westbury, New York, he attended Friends Academy High School, where he received a strong educational foundation before continuing his studies at the collegiate level.

His recreational interests include running, biking, skiing, yoga, cooking, and chess. Having played chess competitively as a child, he continues to appreciate the focus and strategic thinking the game requires.

Community service also plays an important role in his life. In 2023, Sam Menzin completed the Detroit Marathon and raised $17,000 for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. He has volunteered with NOSH Food Kitchen in Glen Cove, New York, as well as Mission City in Detroit.
