The unique and surreal witch's Labyrinths within the series were designed by the animation troupe Gekidan INU Curry, a duo consisting of 2shiroinu and Doroinu. (pen names) Their style and tequnique is inspired by Slavic (particularly Russian and Czech animation) animation and utilizes stop-motion, collage, and coloring that resembles rough, traditional illustrations. Maaya Sakamoto describes their art as "[having] the quality of a picture book and the unrealistic feel of a fairytale as well as some dark humor to it. They are really colorful, cute and fantastical. The characters convey this fancy atmosphere at first sight, but if you look at them carefully, you can see them injected with a needle, bandaged, or drooling. You see, they are not only cute, but they also remind us of imperfect mortals." The troupe worked on the series, movies, and spinoff game, as well as writing ans supervising several of the game's stories.

The "runes" were an original language created by Inu Curry that appeared in the magical world. It was decyphered on fan forums and the various forms of the letters have been turned into downloadable fonts!
