Magi Madoka Magica was a 2011 original show by Magica Quartet, a collaborative team of four, and animated by studio SHAFT. The series was incredibly sucessful for the "dark twist" on the magical girl genre, and is often blamed for the rise in "edgy" magical girl series that followd. However, the show's sucess isn't just thanks to the "edge" factor, but the incredible visuals, story, and original music by Yuki Kajiura and ClariS.
