Devotion: Psalm 121
I look to the mountains, where will my help come from? My help will come from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. He will not let you fall; your protector is always awake.
The protector of Israel never dozes or sleeps. The Lord will guard you; he is by your side to protect you. The sun will not hurt you during the day, nor the moon during the night.

The Lord will protect you from all danger; he will keep you safe. He will protect you as you come and go now and for ever.
This Psalm is known as a song of ascents, when the people took their annual pilgrimage to the Temple in Jerusalem. As the people looked up all around them, and they saw the mountains, they were reminded that God created these.
We can call to him at any time of the day or the night in the knowledge that he will indeed listen to our prayers and pleas. God has promised to protect us from all danger, let us keep on asking Him to protect us and our loved ones.
Even as the year 2023 draws to a close, let us always ask God to be close to us. When we prepare to travel over the festive season, let us ask Him to protect us.
