Diverse Medical Disciplines

The South African Military Health Service empowered Sebokeng communities through the Vaal Career Expo and community outreach program.

The Area Military Health Unit Gauteng arrived early in the morning to showcase its disciplines at the Saul Tsotetsi Sports Centre, Zone 14, Sebokeng, under the Sedibeng District Municipality in Gauteng.

The Sebokeng community experienced an exciting event with various activities. One of the critical components of this event was to expose and empower the youth with the different disciplines within the South African Military Health Service.

In addition to the career expo, the event also included a community outreach initiative aimed at addressing significant issues and improving the overall welfare of the community. Activities included Dental Health Care, Health Screening, Sports and Recreation, Dietetics, Medical Health Support, and a Level 1 Medical Post.

Through these initiatives, the Sebokeng community witnessed a positive transformation for the betterment of their community and wellbeing. The Level 1 Medical post was the center of attention, as community members in need of medical care visited for check-ups.

On the other hand, the Physical training instructors were on hand to demonstrate exercises, including has a positive impact on mental health and plays a crucial role in weight management, stress relief, social benefits, energy levels, and overall well-being.

The Oral Health team emphasized the importance of regular oral hygiene practices such as brushing, flossing, and routine dental check-ups to prevent dental problems.

Prioritizing regular dental exams helps detect early signs of tooth decay, gum disease, and bad breath. Community members were delighted to receive toothpaste and pamphlets detailing the importance of oral hygiene.

The Member of the Executive Council (MEC) in Gauteng for Health, Mrs. Nomantu NkomoRalehoko, also graced the event with her presence and provided a status report on the achievements of the Sedibeng District

Mcelebration at the Military Veterinary Institute has always been, and still is, the heroic event of the year in the unit. This is the day when members can make their imprint and a difference in the community.

On July 18, 2023, Mandela Day, the Military Veterinary Institute took to the streets of Potchefstroom to serve the community with bread and nice warm, homemade soup.
