Message from the Sam Fox School This year we are hosting our first-ever virtual Scholarship Celebration—one of many firsts in 2020. As with so many other special occasions, we have had to change the way we come together. But the celebratory nature of this important event remains, and the significance of honoring those who support scholarships is particularly resonant—even if we can’t gather in person.

For many students and families, this has been a year of great uncertainty and challenges. Scholarships have become even more critical as a means to ensure accessibility for students—particularly students of diverse backgrounds and those with financial need. Thanks to the extraordinary support of donors and friends, we continue to grow our ability to open the doors wide for students to pursue a Sam Fox School education. Scholarship funding enables us to recruit exceptionally talented students and ensures that they can take full advantage of their time on campus— allowing them to experience people, places, and ideas that allow them to think bigger and tackle complex problems, both locally and globally.

In the last fiscal year, donors generously gave $2.3 million for scholarships in the Sam Fox School, which included seven new annual scholarships and three new endowed scholarships. We are pleased to report that we now have a total of 198 named scholarships supporting an incredible range of students across all of our programs. With each scholarship gift, we are more equipped to shape the next generation of architects, artists, and designers who will leave their mark and help fulfill our mission to create a more just, sustainable, humane, and beautiful world.

It is always special to honor the creative and academic accomplishments of our students and the generosity of our donors. Your commitment to the University and our Sam Fox School programs makes this night of celebration possible. Thank you.
