A long career in higher education has allowed Sam Agdasi to serve students, faculty, and institutions through a variety of leadership roles. He brings over 25 years of experience in higher education, including more than 15 years in community colleges as a faculty member, program chair, dean, and senior academic administrator, with service at the vice president level. Former Vice President Sam Agdasi has centered his work on student success, transfer pathways, STEM education, career technical education (CTE), and applied disciplines. He has consistently supported efforts to align academic programs with transfer requirements and workforce needs while keeping institutional effectiveness and student achievement in clear focus. Sam currently serves as the Dean of Student Learning for the Business & Industrial Studies and Social Sciences Divisions at Compton College in Compton, California. In this position, he leads a broad range of academic and workforce programs across business, industrial trades, and social sciences. His leadership focuses on program quality, academic improvement, and student outcomes. He works closely with faculty and staff to strengthen instruction and support an environment where programs are regularly reviewed and improved in response to student needs and labor market conditions. Sam’s current role also includes responsibility for important operational and planning functions. These include budget planning, curriculum development, program review, and faculty support. He also leads dual enrollment efforts and strengthens partnerships with K–12 districts, four-year institutions, and industry. These partnerships help expand access and reinforce both transfer and workforce pathways. Through a collaborative approach and careful use of data, he has helped improve program sustainability, support enrollment stability, and advance student success across several disciplines.
