Meet Hair Artist Heather Werner Hometown? San Jose, California How did you get started? Tell us a little about yourself. Back in 2006, I switched from mechanical engineering to a career in beauty. I was looking for something more creative, with more of a personal touch. Now I get to design massive, intricate hairpieces, sometimes even with motors and pneumatics for our runway shows. Switching careers was the best decision I ever made. Three adjectives to describe yourself. Creative, Driven, Risk-Taking Hair Artist or Hair Stylist? Why? Definitely artist. The use of shape, color, technique, lighting…“stylist” just doesn’t do us justice. What do you enjoy the most about being a Hair Artist? My salon has built up a reputation for our avant garde editorial work. I love that we’ve become the go-to team for weird and unusual projects. What do you not enjoy about being a Hair Artist/Stylist? In California, not a day goes by where I don’t have a request for “blonde highlights and long layers.” Other than yourself, favorite hair artist/stylist? Why? Robert Cromeans for his artistic talent. Sally Hershberger for her business sense, and for having the guts to be the first stylist to charge $1,000 for a haircut. Favorite color? Red Favorite food/drink? I’d never had real ramen until I moved to CA. Now I’m a believer.

Speak it into existence, where do you see yourself in 5 years? I’d love to have the majority of my career be editorial and runway work.

What product is in your kit that you can not live without? All-Nutrient Ultra Hold Hairspray. That spray can stand up to a hurricane.

What is your idea of perfect happiness? Being passionate about your mission in life. Having friends that you cherish and support. And being madly in love.

Favorite movie? 300. It’s the perfect mix of action, adventure, and romance, with gorgeous cinematography and editing.

Your zodiac sign? Libra What zodiac sign do you get along with the most? I have no idea. I love strong-willed people…does that mean Aries? Scorpio? I need to brush up on my zodiac signs. What’s your favorite quote? Whatever you are, be a good one. Dream vacation you would like to take (or have taken)? I’ve been lucky enough to visit Antarctica. I would love to go back one more time before it’s destroyed by climate change. 1What’s your theme song? No theme song, but my all-time favorite is “Solsbury Hill” by Peter Gabriel. What hair trend do you love? Pixie cuts! I love a woman who’s not afraid to go short. What hair trend do you wish would die a slow, painful death? I wish women in action movies would have more practical hair: braids, ponytails, etc. The bouncy, perfectly tousled waves makes me nuts.

Favorite actor/actress? Angelina Jolie What’s the hardest thing you’ve ever done? When I moved from New Hampshire to California, I decided to ride a bicycle, rather than fly with my husband. After two months on the open road, I finally hit the Pacific Ocean. Last book you read? A Thousand Splendid Suns Guilty Pleasure? Watching Big Brother Last show you binge-watched? The Handmaid’s Tale ----------Instagram @foundations_hairandmakeup Facebook www.facebook.com/ FoundationsHair Website www.foundationsHM.com

Meet Hair Assistant Vanessa Perez Hometown? Milpitas, California How did you get started? Tell us a little about yourself. I honestly didn’t know that I wanted to do hair as a living even though growing up I would style my hair everyday for school. Sometimes I would dream about styles the night before and try them out when I woke. I guess I didn’t know my passion for hair was an option as a career until my mom suggested I go to cosmetology school. That was when it confirmed I loved doing hair. Hair Artist or Hair Stylist? Why? Hair stylist. I feel I don’t have that ‘artist’ eye but that I have a way of styling people’s minds and appearance to make them feel their best. What product is in your kit that you can not live without? B&B spray de mode

Other than yourself, favorite hair artist/stylist? Why? Heather Werner is an amazing artist. I love her vision and how she brings it to life. Shannel Mariano is such an educational cutter. She provides visuals to help you really understand your craft in order to try any cut. Josie Vilay does amazing color corrections and she is so humble. Iris Smith is someone who educates stylists and clients oh so well. Lala is an amazing stylist that does beautiful updos. The way she started out doing updos is inspirational. All these people are so down to earth and just want to educate those eager to learn. Favorite color? Purple Favorite food? Fruits Favorite movie? Walk to Remember

Your zodiac sign? Taurus What zodiac sign do you get along with the most? Pisces, cancer and Sagittarius Dream vacation you would like to take (or have taken)? Guam, Bora Bora, Philippines, France Last show you binge-watched? 13 Reasons Why and What if ----------Instagram @veesmanelove

Meet Photographer Ash Ahuja Hometown: San Jose, California How did you get started? Tell us a little about yourself. I got into fashion photography completely by accident. I was looking for any photography workshops around NYC, and found one on fashion photography. This was 10 years ago after I had just bought me camera and was not yet getting any good images. The workshop was crazy as it was an advanced workshop, and all the other photographers had assistants and all types of lighting gear, and here I was with no clue of what was going on. Luckily, one of the models at that workshop liked my images the most and asked me to do another shoot for her fashion portfolio. That shoot led to more people contacting me and it just snowballed from there! Three adjectives to describe yourself. Vivid, adventurous, and thoughtful What’s your favorite quote? “The single most important component of a camera is the twelve inches behind it!” – Ansel Adams Favorite color? Blue! Favorite food/drink? Tacos! Moscow Mules. What person, living or dead, would you love to photograph? Marilyn Monroe and Robin Williams What country would you love to shoot in? Iceland What is your idea of perfect happiness? Being in the zone and creating something beautiful with other artists Your zodiac sign? Pisces

What do you enjoy the most about photography? I use a wheelchair, and I think that automatically gives me an edge because my eye looks at things very differently than most other photographers. I know how to make models stand out, look taller, and get images that are just different from the usual shots. I’ve always been drawn to photography as I am a very visual person and was always drawn to paintings and photography by other famous artists. I got into fashion photography by chance, but absolutely love it because through it I have met amazing people from all walks of life I would not have otherwise. Be it a young Russian girl who dreamt of making it big as a model in NYC, and now has (and I’ve seen her go through her journey), to amazing engineer turned hair stylist, contortionists, and WWE wrestlers! The other part of fashion shoots that I absolutely love is the creative teamwork that goes into producing amazing images. Even if it is just me and the model, I love creative ideas coming to life. When we have larger teams working on a project, that is even better as I feed off that creativity and different ways of thinking. It is addictive to say the least! I also volunteer at the Humane Society as a photographer every week and am blessed that my skills help save lives (literally) and get pets adopted  What do you not enjoy about photography? The editing process! I know the potential each image has and the works needed to get that out. My retouching skills are nowhere near that of professional retouchers when it comes to skin and beauty shoots. I’m glad I get to collaborate with some amazing artists that do a great job there!

Dream vacation you would like to take (or have taken)? Iceland! Want to go there soon! What’s your theme song? Mission Impossible  If you had the opportunity to meet any photographer, living or dead, who would it be? Annie Leibovitz Favorite movie? Dunkirk Favorite actor/actress? Jim Carey Favorite superhero? Why? Superman – does not need downtown skyline to function. Like Spiderman does  What is your favorite word? Least favorite? Robust – just sounds so – robust! Snakes. What was the last picture you took with your phone? My GF pretending to sleep If you could have personally witnessed anything, what would you want to have seen? The moon landing Guilty Pleasure? Craft coffee Last show you binge-watched? Stranger Things Last book you read? Recursion Anything else you want the readers to know about you. Follow me on Instagram! @vividshot_photography www.facebook.com/ vividshotphotography www.vividshot.com

Hometown: San Francisco, California How did you get started? Tell us a little about yourself. Quirky, Fun, Magical What do you enjoy the most about being a fashion designer? My absolute favorite moments of being a18 fashion designer are the bustle and excitement of a fashion show or SALYSÉ fashion shoot. SEPT 2019

What do you not enjoy about being a fashion designer? The sewing and production side can be tedious. But when I am in it, I love the whole process. Favorite designer other than yourself? Why? Coco Chanel! Classic Chanel is the epitome of beauty and grace! Your zodiac sign? Virgo Favorite color? All shades of pink and also mustard yellow.

Creating epic structured pieces and designing unique photo sets!
