Letter from the Editor Dear Salysians, What a year? We made it! We survived! Sixty Issues!! 60!

Did you read all of them?

Are you ready to begin a new year- a new chapter?

What will the new year and the new volumes of SALYSÉ hold?

As I drink my Honest Tea while putting the final touches on the largest issue that we have ever published, I peeled off the label to read: “Everything has beauty, but not everyone see it.” - Confucius Beauty? What is it? Who determines it? How does each person define it? Those are the questions that I continue to try to answer with every issue. And I hope to continue to answer with the new year.

I am so thankful for today! I’m thankful for all of the amazing contributors who have entrusted me with their work and to show their BEAUTY to the world!

What are you thankful for?

Enjoy the “gifts” of the season!

And know the most precious gift you can give someone is the gift of time!

Meet Photographer Jaylene Debenedictis How did you get started? Tell us a little about yourself.

I started shooting 21 years ago. My children were my primary models/obsession, and still are!

Three adjectives to describe yourself.

Innovative, Artistic, Analytical What do you enjoy the most about photography?

I love turning a concept into a beautiful reality.

Your zodiac sign?

Virgo Favorite color?

I really can’t answer any of the “favorites” questions. I can’t limit myself and love too many colors, foods, songs, quotes, books, etc.. Every day would be a different answer.

What country would you love to shoot in?

Greece, Thailand, Brazil, Egypt...to name just a few.

Last book you read?

Ready Player One by Ernest Cline What was the last picture you took with your phone?

Sofia, Sarah and Ellie walking on beach in Cali.

Meet Hair Artist Rees Anderson How did you get started? Tell us a little about yourself.

Initially started my career as a visual artist doing graphic design, but have always loved aesthetics. So, after graduating college, I️ decided to follow my passion. Hair has always spoken to me in a really ornate way.

Three adjectives to describe yourself.

Passionate Organic Spicy Hair Artist or Hair Stylist? Why? Hair Artist - It takes vision to create, but anyone can style! An artist looks at the overall image and creates accordingly.

What do you enjoy the most about being a Hair Artist/Stylist?

The ability to cultivate smiles and make every woman regardless of their flaws feel effortless and beautiful.

Favorite color?

Green

Other than yourself, favorite hair artist/stylist? Why? Tough one, I’ll give two. Sally Hershberger for her ability to give hair texture like no one else.

Charlie Price forces the boundaries of precision which I can appreciate because it’s like architecture in hair.

Your zodiac sign?

Scorpio
