Ryder is the leader of a search and rescue crew known as the Paw Patrol. Only there’s something very special about Ryder’s team. For a start, Ryder’s only 10 years old – and his team’s made up entirely of talking dogs! Not only can the Paw Patrol dogs speak, but each member also has an unbelievable set of skills, such as firefighting and aquatic rescue!
The Paw Patrol really are a fantastic crew, but they’re about to face their trickiest adventure yet. After their ship crashes on a tropical island, the Paw Patrol learn that a pup called Rex has been stranded on this island for years. Plus, this island is home to some of the biggest, scaliest and scariest creatures to ever walk the Earth – dinosaurs!
As if this adventure wasn’t wild enough already, the Paw Patrol then discover that their arch-rival, Mayor Humdinger, has come to this island too. In fact, he’s been so naughty that he’s accidentally caused a humongous volcano to erupt! Now the Paw Patrol will need to carry out lots of rescues that will be harder than any they’ve done before. The mission is as enormous as a T-Rex – but if the pups work together, they might just be able to save the day!

The Paw Patrol have got a tough mission on their hands … I mean, paws! Not only have they got to stop Mayor Humdinger’s plans, but they’ve also got to rescue a bunch of dinosaurs from a volcano! Fortunately for those dinosaurs, the Paw Patrol crew are more than capable of saving them.

Watching such great rescuers at work reminds me of how amazing it is that God can rescue us too! We all do wrong things sometimes, and we deserve to be in trouble with God. However, because God loves us so much, Jesus came to the world – a far greater rescuer than Chase, Skye and even Marshall!
Once the dinosaurs have been rescued from their island, I’m not sure whether they’ll be welcomed into the Paw Patrol crew. But when Jesus rescues us from the trouble we deserve, we can be sure that he’s welcomed us into his family! There’s no better rescuer than Jesus, so are you following him?

What makes someone a fantastic teacher? Is it having a voice that’s so loud you can hear it through walls? Or is someone a brilliant teacher if they’re funnier than a Minion and as smart as Gru? The truth is that someone could have all these skills (and even more) – but they still wouldn’t be as good a teacher as Jesus!
In this week’s Bible cartoon, we see that Jesus put together a brilliant lesson for his followers–one which was greater than any lesson you’ll have ever been in. Jesus covered so many topics we haven’t got space to list them all.
Jesus wasn’t a fab teacher because he had a loud voice or a great sense of humour. It’s because Jesus never taught his followers to do something he wouldn’t do himself! Jesus lived the perfect life, and he always showed love to everyone around him. When we follow Jesus, we can trust that Jesus isn’t asking us to do anything he wouldn’t do himself.
In fact, Jesus was willing to do things that we might nd it hard to imagine doing ourselves! He even gave his life for us, so that we can join God’s family. So if you’re nding it tough to follow Jesus, remember that Jesus knows exactly what it’s like to go through whatever you’re facing. Keep going and trust that he’s with you, no matter what!

This picture shows the ancient city of Machu Picchu. Isn’t it incredible? At the centre of the site, La Ciudadela (which means the citadel) stands 2,430 metres above sea level in the middle of a mountain forest in Peru. Machu Picchu was built a very long time ago by the Inca people, but was abandoned when they were conquered by Spain in the 1500s. However, Machu Picchu remained an Inca secret until 1911 when a man called Hiram Bingham was taken to it by a local guide – only native people knew it was there for around 400 years!

The ancient city is split into different levels to separate farming areas from the religious areas or the places where people lived. Many people trek along the Inca Trail to see this spectacular site – this is the route Hiram Bingham took.

From stunning landmarks to delicious dinners, there are so many fantastic reasons why the UK and Ireland are such spectacular places to call home! To celebrate England, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales, we’ve put together the ultimate guide to these ve countries. Why not join us over the next four weeks as we discover just some of the reasons why we believe that the UK and Ireland are absolutely brilliant?

In this week’s guide to the UK and Ireland, we’ll be exploring…

Landmarks are places that can be natural or human-made. What they all have in common is that they’re unignorably awesome. Once you’ve seen a landmark, it’s very hard to forget about it!

The Elizabeth Tower is a 96-metre-tall structure that stands next to the Houses of Parliament in London. It’s home to something very special – a bell called … you guessed it, Big Ben! Big Ben rst rang on 31 May 1859, and it’s been ringing ever since.

If you’ve ever seen a photo of Stonehenge (which stands in Salisbury Plain), then you might be wondering what’s so special about it. The answer is simple – this special stone circle is around 4,000 years old, and it gives a magni cent glimpse into England’s past!

These spectacular sea cliffs in County Clare give any visitor one of the best views of the Atlantic Ocean! O’Brien’s Tower, which was built on the cliffs in 1835, marks the highest point of the cliffs – and is also pretty unmissable!

It’s hard to nd any building that’s more awesome than a castle – and Dublin Castle is one of the coolest we’ve ever seen! Built in the early 13th century in a place where a Viking settlement had once been, Dublin Castle is now a magni cent spot for tourists to visit.

Have you ever walked across stepping stones? The stepping stones at the Giant’s Causeway are ridiculously impressive – there’s around 40,000 of them, leading towards the sea. These stepping stones were made by a volcanic eruption!

On 15 April 1912, a ship called the RMS Titanic sank after striking an iceberg. Now, more than 100 years later, one of the most famous landmarks in Northern Ireland has been built where the shipyard that designed the Titanic once stood!

If you love horses (and we know that lots of Kids Alive! readers do), then we reckon you’ll adore the Kelpies! These two 30-metre-tall sculptures have been designed to look like horse heads. They’re located neigh-er … we mean, near Falkirk.

This magni cent castle in Cardiff has a very long history. It’s been used as a home for knights and Roman soldiers, and its tunnels were even used during the Second World War. Designed by an architect called William Burges, Cardiff Castle truly is a stunning place to visit.

This famous loch (which is the Scottish word for lake) is located in the Scottish Highlands. It’s around 37 kilometres long, and it’s about 230 metres deep – that’s about 10 lengths of a swimming pool! Plus, some people believe that it’s the home of a monster called Nessie.

This mountain (which is called Yr Wyddfa in Welsh) is the highest mountain in Wales. In fact, it’s so tall that it can take up to 4 hours to climb it. If you’re not in the mood for a climb, you can also use the Snowdon Mountain Railway for a trip up to the summit.

Which spectacular landmark will you visit next?

Earlier this year, Nunhead Salvation Army hosted Justice Sunday – where they explored what justice means for Christians. On that day, the Sunday school leaders challenged the kids and young people to think about something unjust in their lives and to, ‘Go do something!’ – just like William Booth said. (He was co-founder of The Salvation Army, who publish Kids Alive!) The children decided they wanted to raise awareness about their local park, which wasn’t in good shape. They’d noticed things such as play equipment being broken or missing and lots of litter, including alcohol glasses and bottles. So the kids wrote letters and drew pictures to share their feelings. Then, with the help of the Sunday school team and the Salvation Army Public Affairs team, they wrote to their local councillors. Everyone was thrilled when they quickly got a reply from their local councillor, who asked if they could meet. Councillor Victoria Threadgold and Mayor of Southwark, Claire Sheppard, visited The Salvation Army on a Sunday and they listened as the children shared why the park was important to them and asked questions about funding. There was also a trip to the park, so the kids could point out what things needed to change.
When the children were asked why they had sent their letter, they explained that they had been asked to stand up for something that isn’t right, because that is what Jesus does. Everyone at Nunhead Salvation Army is so proud of their young people for using their voice to stand up for something – and so are the Kids Alive! team! Well done, all of you!

DIDN’T YOU HAVE A BIN COLLECTION THIS WEEK, PERCY?
WE DID, PATCH, BUT NOBODY TOLD ME.
IT’S MY OWN FAULT. I’D BEEN TELLING THE OTHER PENGUINS THAT I WAS FED UP WITH ALL THEIR NEGATIVE COMMENTS.
THEIR MOANING AND GRUMBLING WAS GETTING ME DOWN, SO I TOLD THEM NOT TO SAY ANYTHING TO ME UNLESS IT WAS POSITIVE.
UNFORTUNATELY THAT WAS WHERE I WENT WRONG. THEY WANTED TO TELL ME THAT TODAY WAS GOING TO BE A RUBBISH DAY…
...BUT THEY DIDN’T BECAUSE THEY THOUGHT I’D TAKE IT AS A NEGATIVE COMMENT!
