In 1942, a road was laid in the RAF Silverstone airfield in Northamptonshire. The workers making that road had no idea that they were creating what would eventually become one of the world’s best racetracks! Five years later, the Silverstone Circuit was used for a spectacular motor race – the first of many that would be held there. Now, 84 years since its track was built, Silverstone is hosting a magnificent racing competition – the Formula One British Grand Prix 2026! This fab event, which began on 3 July, will end with a thrilling race on 5 July. Some of the best drivers in the world, such as Lando Norris and Lewis Hamilton, will take to the track to prove that they’re better behind the wheel than anyone else!
If you’ve never watched Formula One before, then this is a race you won’t want to miss. Be prepared to see cars that are far faster (and more impressive) than any you’ll have seen on an ordinary road. Be prepared to be stunned by some of the unbelievable driving skills which will be on display. And be prepared to grab your TV remote so that you can turn the volume down, because racing cars can get pretty loud!

You can watch the big race on 5 July at 3pm on Channel 4 and Sky Sports
Are you excited to see who zooms past the checkered flag and wins the British Grand Prix? Although it will be the driver who gets to stand on the podium and have everyone cheer for them, Formula One wins really are a team effort. In fact, every driver has a whole team behind them, including their engineers and pit staff – and every person has a part to play. There’s even a big boss who’s in charge of the whole team. And that’s just like life, isn’t it? We have God as our top boss–he sees the big picture and knows the best decisions for us to make. But we also have our team – the people God has placed around us and who help us along the way, such as our friends and family. So whether you’re speeding through life or stopping for a pit stop, remember that God and your team are there to help you!

Read the comment on the right about listening to what God is saying to you

Whenever I call my daughters to do a job, such as tidying a mess they’ve made, they never seem to hear me. I suspect they do hear me really but try to ignore me.
In this week’s cartoon Bible story, God called Jonah to do a job. He wanted Jonah to help clear up a big mess – the city of Ninevah. The problem was Jonah didn’t want to do what God asked, so he tried to ignore God and ran away.
I can understand Jonah’s reaction. After all, God didn’t ask him to tell the Ninevites what a brilliant bunch they were. God wanted Jonah to put the Ninevites on the naughty step of all naughty steps with the threat of all-out and total destruction!
After some tricky situations, lots of prayers and a bit of a temper tantrum, everything turned out fine. The Ninevites changed their ways and were saved, and Jonah learned an important lesson about how God loves everyone and wants the best for them.
I wonder if God’s calling you to do a job. He probably won’t ask you to tell the school bully to change their ways or they’ll be destroyed. He might want you to include someone who’s feeling left out, stand up for what’s right or to be more kind and helpful. Maybe he wants you to tell someone that Jesus loves them and wants the best for them. Don’t ignore him but remember he’ll help you to do whatever he’s asking.
asks Justin Reeves
In this week’s cartoon Bible story Jonah tries to do the opposite of what God was asking him to do. Match the tasks listed to the opposite actions. Which task is left over?
A Going for a bike ride
B Going to church
C Telling others about Jesus
D Being kind to someone who’s feeling left out
E Doing a community litter pick
F Washing the dishes
G Making your bed
Check out your Bible – Jonah 1:1-3,15-17; 2:7-9; 3:4-5,10; 4:1-11

Six thin things, six thin things, six thin things

HELLO, READERS, I’VE LOST A VERY IMPORTANT OBJECT SOMEWHERE IN THE ISSUE. WOULD YOU BE ABLE TO HELP ME FIND IT? I HAVE A CLUE OF WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE HERE.

Here are some great faces! At Mount Rushmore in the USA, four famous faces are carved into the rock. From left to right the faces are George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln –four men who were once president of the USA. It took 400 workers more than 14 years to create – and they had to walk up 500 steps to get to work every morning. Each of the four faces had to be carved out of the rock face – this was done by using dynamite to blast chunks of rock away and then carving the facial details with tools, such as chisels! It was quite a big challenge, because each of the massive faces are as tall as a six- oor building. Around three million people visit the mega monument every year.

Our world is pretty awesome! All around the globe there are magni cent things to see. So jump in our imaginary jumbo jet and travel the world with us!

What do you think the world will look like in 200 years? Perhaps everyone will own ying cars, or the president of the USA will be a robot. Maybe humans will live on Mars or deep under the sea. It’s impossible to know exactly what will happen in the future. However, in a book called How to Steal the Future (written by an award-winning author called Christopher Edge), a special device known as the Avenir can predict the future with 100 per cent accuracy!
The Avenir is hidden deep within a maze, because lots of people have tried (and failed) to steal it. A boy called Drew is the latest to try, just like his sister Evie did before him. But Drew doesn’t actually care about the Avenir – he just wants to nd Evie, who’s gone missing! Facing dead ends, laser tripwires and collapsing corridors, Drew soon realises that this is a far more dangerous mission than he could have possibly imagined!
For the opportunity to win your own copy of How to Steal the Future, answer the question below and email your full name, age, address and answer to kidsalive@salvationarmy.org.uk. Has your summer holiday already started, or is it creeping up on you faster than a scuttling bug? Without long maths lessons, fab assemblies and bonkers lunchtime antics to keep you busy, you might nd yourself struggling to know what to get up to. In this new series, we’ve got tons of ideas to keep you entertained for the whole summer!

If the sun’s shining and you’re itching for something fun to get up to outside, try…

The outdoors is teeming with wildlife, so why not try to spot some magni cent creatures? You could go for a walk in the woods and draw pictures of each creepy-crawly that you spot. Or you could grab yourself a pair of binoculars and go birdwatching. You can nd birdwatching tips at rspb.org.uk/helping-nature/what-you-can-do/activities/go-birdwatching
If you’re looking for a ridiculously gross adventure, you could search for poo on your next nature walk! You can learn which animals live in areas near you just by the poo and animal tracks you discover (although you de nitely shouldn’t touch any poo). Find out more at woodlandtrust.org.uk/blog/2020/02/animal-tracks-id-kids.

Heavy rain, fierce wind – sometimes the weather’s so horrid you can’t go outside! The next time it’s a rainy day, try…

Blanket forts are super cosy, and they’re also really easy to make! Find two chairs and spin them so their backs are facing each other. Then make sure they’re about as far apart as you are tall! Drape some blankets over the chairs and … voila, you’ve got your own brilliant fort!

You could put sofa cushions inside of your fort to sit on, and you could bring a cuddly toy to snuggle with. Then you could read a book or watch a lm in your fort with your parents or carers!

School might be out for the summer, but that doesn’t mean that your learning should stop! This week, let’s learn about…

If your parents or carers are happy for you to have a late night, it’s a fab activity to try out – and a brilliant opportunity to learn more about space! You can nd super stargazing tips at amnh.org/explore/ology/astronomy/a-kids-guide-to-stargazing

Now that you’ve got lots of free time, you’ve got the perfect opportunity to explore more of the Bible. We think you should check out…

Have you ever looked up at the sky at night? You might have seen the Moon shining brightly, stars twinkling like tiny diamonds and even a shooting star streaking across the sky! Looking at the night sky, and speci cally looking at stars and planets, is known as stargazing.

This beautiful poem reminds us that God is absolutely amazing. He made the whole universe and he’s far bigger than any mountain, even Mount Everest! However, he loves tiny (well, tiny compared to a mountain), ordinary people like you!

As you read Psalm 121, take time to remember that God is always watching you and looking after you, no matter what you’re facing. He’ll be with you every day of this summer holiday, and every day after that – for the rest of your life! day

Have you got any awesome plans for the summer? Use the space below to write about or draw some of the activities you’re hoping to get up to!
