Can faith like that save him? A brother or sister in Christ might need clothes or might need food. And you say to him, ‘God be with you! I hope you stay warm and get plenty to eat.’ You say this, but you do not give that person the things he needs. Unless you help him, your words are worth nothing. It is the same with faith. If faith does nothing, then that faith is dead, because it is alone.

f you’re looking for some October half-term movie fun, check out the new animated film starring fluffy Nestrian Finny and his feisty friend Leah, who are back for another crazy adventure in Two By Two: Overboard! An ark filled with animals has been drifting on the open seas for months. There’s no land in sight, food is running low and tension between carnivores and herbivores is growing! When you think things couldn’t possibly get worse, Finny and Leah are swept overboard, along with the last of the food supplies. Along with a castaway, Jelly, they’re washed up on an island and discover an underground colony of Nestrians. Created to keep Nestrians safe from carnivores, the colony is about to be shaken – not only are they living under a menacing volcano, but the ark of hungry animals soon runs aground on the island! In a race against time, lava and fireballs, Finny must rescue his friends and save the ark and colony from destruction. He can only do it with the Nestrians’ help. Will they overcome their fear of meat-eating monsters and act on their motto ‘to never neglect no one in need’? Find out in Two By Two: Overboard!, which is showing in cinemas now.

I reckon the Nestrians from Two By Two: Overboard! have a pretty good motto – ‘Never neglect no one in need!’ Neglect means ‘forget to care for’, so the Nestrians’ motto could say ‘Don’t forget to care for anyone who needs help’. Over the last few weeks, on our KA! JAM pages, we’ve been encouraging our readers to think of things they can do to help people who are treated unfairly. This week’s pages 4 and 5 focus on what we can do in our communities to show people we care, and make our neighbourhoods better or fairer places to live. The Bible includes loads of verses that mention how important it is to care for each other and help those who need it – check out James 2:14–17. Do your best to keep an eye out for those who need a bit of help and ‘Don’t forget to care for anyone who needs help’.

Do Something!
I
says Justin Reeves
know of a church where every Sunday morning before their service, church members put on high-vis jackets, complete with their church’s logo, and pick up litter in the area along the high street in their town. They do it to show that they care about their community. That’s not all they do. The church I’m talking about has become known as the place to go if you need help. Whether someone needs food for their family, clothes, furniture, toys for their children, someone to talk to or someone to pray with them, the members of this church will do what they can to help out. I don’t know if you’ve ever heard of spiritual gifts (they’re talents that God gives us to help us to bring others closer to him), but one of my spiritual gifts is
helping people. If you were to speak to anyone who knows me well, they would tell you that I love to lend a helping hand. Whether it’s fixing something that’s not working, lifting heavy objects, delivering furniture, popping to the shops, trying to cheer people up, sitting and listening to someone who’s feeling down, giving someone a lift in the car… I love to help. We’ve discussed quite a few big problems on these pages over the last few weeks, but we want you to understand that there are little things you can do to help people where you live that can make a big difference. Spend some time this week thinking about ways you can help your friends and neighbours. But don’t just think about it, do something!

Living Like Jesus – Loving Your Neighbour Written by KA! JAM Co-ordinator Ibukun Baku – illustrated by Steve English
Did you know that the most important commandments in the Bible are to love God and to love your neighbour? Jesus was great at doing this, so let’s follow his example by loving God and our neighbours too.
The Shrewd Manager
Jesus told a story of a crooked manager who was cheating his rich boss. The boss demanded a full report and fired the manager. The manager quickly came up with a plan. He lowered the bills of the people who owed his boss money. He figured that since he helped them they would help him once his job ended. The manager’s boss was impressed although he didn’t change his mind. Jesus then explained that only people who could be trusted with small things would be trusted with true riches.
Living Like Jesus
Jesus wanted the crowd to understand they needed to be as smart, focused and determined about their heavenly future as the manager was about his earthly one. Jesus explained that every time a believer used their resources, skills and talents to help others, they were storing up ‘friends’ and true riches in Heaven.
Loving Your Neighbour
Do you ever wonder what Heaven will be like? Jesus often talked about the good attitude and actions of those who would be welcomed into Heaven. Can you use your skill or talent to do a good deed today?
KA! JAM is the cooles t Bible activity club around. As a member you’ll go on amazing adventures through th e Bible learning about Jesus. The first modern glitter was made by accident on a cattle ranch! Henry Ruschmann was a rancher in America who loved messing about with machine tools. In 1934 he was using one of his machines to break down thin plastic sheets to get rid of them. Henry accidentally crushed the sheets into tiny shimmering particles and invented modern glitter. For centuries before that glitter was made from glass, gemstones and even insects!

There’s an abundance of delicious dishes that originate in African and Caribbean countries. Here are just a few popular dishes from different areas. Notting Hill Carnival
The Notting Hill Carnival is a huge and amazing outdoor event that is all about celebrating black culture and communities. It started with a woman called Claudia Jones who decided that after several attacks on Caribbean residents in west London, people needed a celebration of the black community in the area. This Caribbean carnival was first held in 1959 and it’s a tradition that’s continued and grown into the massive celebration we see today.
The Notting Hill Carnival, held in August every year, attracts millions of people as they enjoy delicious food from stalls serving things such as jerk chicken, curried goat or fried plantain. The party atmosphere is enhanced with colourful costumes, amazing music and dancing in the streets.
Find Out More Each week we’ll list some great books, TV programmes, museums or websites below. Remember, learning about black history isn’t just important for people who are black. Black history is everyone’s history, so we all need to learn together.
