Birds are amazing! There are big ones – the average height of an ostrich is 210cm! There are small ones – the bee hummingbird is just 5.7cm tall! And there are colourful ones, such as the rainbow lorikeet – google it, they’re beautiful! Did you know birds are mentioned quite a bit in the Bible? For example, in Matthew 6:25–34 Jesus talks about how God looks after the birds – how they don’t need to sow seed, gather a harvest or store up food. God makes sure they have all they need. Jesus mentions this because he doesn’t want us to worry. He’s not saying we shouldn’t work hard or be concerned about things, but he knows that when people worry too much, they stop trusting him. Put Jesus first, do your best to live his way, talk to him about everything, trust him and try not to worry – he will look after you!

READ THE COMMENT BELOW ABOUT HOW JESUS CAME FOR EVERYONE – EVEN THOSE WHO HAVE DONE WRONG

Jesus Is Here for You!

H

ave you ever done something naughty and got found out? Maybe you’ve sneaked a peek at someone else’s answers in a spelling test. Perhaps you pinched a treat from the biscuit barrel after you were told you weren’t allowed one. You might have broken someone else’s favourite toy when you knew you shouldn’t have been playing with it. If you’ve ever done something wrong and been caught out, how did it end? No doubt you got a good telling-off – and you might have been punished in some way – but did the person who you wronged stay angry with you for ever? Fortunately, most people who love us don’t stay angry with us for long. Hopefully you realised what you did was wrong, you apologised and you were forgiven.

says Justin Reeves

In this week’s cartoon Bible story, we meet a sneaky lying little cheat called Zacchaeus. When Jesus invited himself to hang out with Zacchaeus, people didn’t understand: why would Jesus want to ‘be the guest of a sinner’? The answer is simple: Jesus knew Zacchaeus needed him. We don’t know what Jesus said, but we do know that after meeting Jesus, Zacchaeus was sorry, was forgiven and changed his ways. This story reminds us that Jesus came to help everyone, especially those who have messed up. No one’s perfect, alive kids, and Jesus loves us all. No matter what you might have done wrong, Jesus wants to be your friend and help you get back on track.

Praying with Jesus

with KA! JAM Co-ordinator Ibukun Baku

NOW YOU PRAY

Prayers are special because they’re an opportunity to share everything that’s on our minds with Jesus. Prayers have the power to change how we feel by filling us with hope and courage. In the Bible there are loads of examples of prayer changing people’s situations. In 1 Thessalonians 5:17, Paul encourages believers to always pray. Using stories of Jesus from the Bible, we want to encourage you to pray too.

Use the space to write a prayer. You can thank God for your day, share any concerns or thank Jesus for the time that he has for us.

Mark 5:21–45 Many people wanted Jesus’ help, but this never fazed him. He helped everyone who came to him, including Jairus, whose daughter was very sick, and a lady who had been unwell for 12 years. The lady was scared, but Jesus took the time to reassure her. When news reached Jairus that his daughter had died, Jesus calmed him before going to heal her. If you’re a KA! JAM member, check out your KAPAC 10 to read the full story or sign up below to start your KA! JAM journey

Queen Elizabeth II has owned more than 30 corgis! She was given her first corgi, Dookie, when she was about seven years old. On her 18th birthday she received another one called Susan, who became the ancestor of all the Queen’s corgis. The Queen gave her dogs some pretty cool names, such as Sugar, Candy, Honey and Spick and Span. The royal pooches had their own chef and slept in a paw-some corgi room with their beds raised above the floor to avoid any chilly draughts!

Brain Boosting Challenge As a fun way to keep your brain working, why not try this simple brain-boosting challenge? You’ll need a tray, some small household objects, a tea towel, paper and pen.

Ask a parent, guardian or sibling to place some small household objects on to the tray – the objects could be things such as a pen, spoon, remote control or bouncy ball. Look at them for one minute and try to remember all the items on the tray. Then cover the items with the tea towel and try to write down as many as you can remember.

C God is With Us Because of coronavirus restrictions, the nativity play for the carol service at Maidstone Salvation Army had to be done differently. It was filmed in many locations, which allowed Mary to be visited by the angel Gabriel in her home, Joseph to saw wood among trees in a wooded area, the shepherds to speak their parts in a field full of sheep and the wise men to spontaneously break into singing the song ‘Sparkle and Shine’ from the film Nativity! Young people’s sergeant-major (Sunday school leader) Hazel Ball used the script ‘God is with us – Everywhere’ by Fay Rowland to involve all the young people. Videos from each location were linked together alongside carols, prayers and Bible readings. Keeping to social distancing guidelines, two bands of six members also accompanied the carols and provided opening and closing music. Despite the frustrations of being apart it was good to remember that a tiny baby brought a special message of hope.
