Learning and Thriving According to the American Optometric Association, “80% of learning is visual,” and TEI’s School Vision Programs provide students with the support they need to learn, thrive, and succeed academically. The Eye Institute (TEI) TEI is one of only a few organizations in

Pediatric Eye Specialist Helps Shape Future Treatment For 'Lazy Eye' Primary eye care providers looking for an evidence-based tool to treat amblyopia now have a road map. And a pediatric eye doctor from The Eye Institute (TEI) helped develop the research that made the tool possible. Dr. Stanley Hatch, chief of the Pediatric/Binocular Vision Services at TEI, was one of 22 pediatric eye disease investigators participating in more than 20 randomized clinical trials over nearly four years to develop an “evidence-based decision tree” for treating amblyopia, commonly known as “lazy eye.”

The research has been published in JAMA Ophthalmology, a monthly peer-reviewed medical journal covering aspects of ophthalmology, and the information is now available on a free app called Amblyopia Navigator Decision-Support Instrument (ANDI), so primary care eye doctors can utilize the information. If you have 'lazy eye' and need a comprehensive eye exam or treatment, call 215.276.6111 or visit our website.

Finding the Right Words When You Talk to Your Audiologist A visit to the audiologist is very different from a visit to a primary care provider. An audiologist is a clinician who diagnoses hearing problems and works closely with patients to provide personalized treatment plans that help them hear and communicate more effectively.

A visit to the Pennsylvania Ear Institute (PEI) in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania, may include the testing and evaluation of a patient’s hearing; solutions for those with hearing loss; or tests for balance issues if needed. If you’re going to the audiologist for the first time, it may be a challenge to explain your symptoms and know what to ask. Your audiologist can help —by listening carefully, asking questions, and working with you to make sense of your experience. For more information or to book an appointment, call 215.780.3180 or visit our website.
