GRADUATING SENIORS

We are so proud of all of you!

We can't wait to see all the amazing things you will do and the places you will go!

Graduating Senior

Thea Knight

Thea loves to dance! She started young and has loved every opportunity. She thrived as a four-year-old in Ms. Natalie’s basement studio and has danced ever since. She performed for 7 years with a production company, singing and dancing all over the U.S. She explored musical theater in high school which gave her the opportunity to learn tap. Most of all she loves the artistry of dance. Using dance to share a story or experience. She has developed her choreography skills and has shared her talent in 6 concerts at Olympus High. Thea joined the competitive dance world after Covid led us to a new dance studio –SLDC!!!! She has spent the last two years on the Award Winning Senior Elite Teams. We are grateful to every teacher, coach and mentor who has pushed her and allowed her to succeed competitively and at school. Thea spent two years on the Olympus High Dance Company. This year she was Sterling Scholar for Dance at Olympus. She has also been an SBO, being the co-president of the service organization. Next year Thea is heading to BYU and will figure out what she wants to study… eventually. She will miss SLDC with her whole heart and wants to thank everyone for making her journey so beautiful and rewarding.

Thea

Lanie Hola Graduating Senior

Lanie Hola has been dancing since she was 5. Her favorite genres are jazz and hip-hop but Lanie’s favorite aspect of dance has to be the camaraderie of the art.

Growing up and dancing with the team has been her most cherished part of dance. Once this dance season is over, Lanie will be attending Harvard University in the fall, majoring in chemistry and neuroscience. She is ecstatic! Lanie especially wants to thank all of her teachers at SLDC. They have been such amazing supports both on and off the dance floor.

Graduating Senior

Isaac Nelson

After dabbling in other pursuits such as taekwondo and swimming, Isaac was tricked into beginning his dance career during a routine sibling pickup when some intentional lingering on the part of his family allowed him to hear some sweet tunes start up in the studio. He peeked in and noticed a cool looking teacher demonstrating cool moves, and, critically, nobody was wearing tights. After a trial hip hop class, he had a smile plastered on his face for the rest of the evening, and dance has been an essential force of happiness in his life ever since. In addition to honing his moves that he will only perform in controlled settings, Isaac has kept busy at school. After moving through the MELP program, he kept on moving straight through AP classes at Highland High, including self-studying Physics 3 because for some reason there wasn't enough general interest to offer the class. Not content with Dance and Nerd, Isaac has also been extensively involved in the music program. This involvement includes Wind Ensemble, Pit Orchestra, Jazz Band, Music Council, and the following instruments which he often rolled to school on a hand truck: clarinet, bass clarinet, contra-alto clarinet, bassoon, and alto sax. Still anxious for more, he will be graduating with certifications in both welding and woodworking. Isaac will be attending the U of U on a merit scholarship where he intends to study engineering and robotics while continuing to incorporate as much dance and music into his life as possible. He would like to thank Jillana and everyone at SLDC for the joy and support they've given, with a special shout-out to Kassi who has spent so many hours on him, and he promises that they will be spared in the robot apocalypse that he might accidentally unleash.
