ROMANY MOLLISON In the winter chill of late afternoon in the country, the sounds of the day begin to quieten. The colours soften and the home fires start burning. It is a time that I love for its peaceful, atmospheric and mysterious quality as the light fades – and when I feel most connected to the landscape. This last year, I have travelled through and recorded my impressions once again of Western Victoria, rural Tasmania, and closer to home in the Adelaide Hills through photography, note taking and charcoal sketches. Further to this I also took an amazing self-directed residency across England’s Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales where I travelled alone, striding across remote paddocks in the whipping wind and misty rain and navigating narrow roads down foggy fells. This collection tells the story of these experiences in places so special to me – the story of what has become my deep resonance with this atmospheric time of day in these incredible landscapes. It is when I feel totally alive and most at home.
