The main difference between Hemp and ‘Marijuana’ is the THC content. Hemp has less than 0.3% THC. Therefore, marijuana requires a medical cannabis card and CBD does not.
Don’t use the “M” word! Try referring to all products as “Cannabis” versus CBD and marijuana. These days, the word ‘Marijuana’ simply means “THC” and we now know there are more than 500 compounds in Cannabis that help us, rather than just THC.
Trichomes are where we find the medicinal oils containing cannabinoids and terpenes, but did you know the crystals on the cannabis plant are actually a defense mechanism to protect the plant from harsh bugs, sun rays, and freezing temps?
START LOW AND GO SLOW
Start with a low dose of THC (2.5 mg - 5 mg) and increase 2.5 mg - 5 mg at a time slowly for optimal therapeutic effects.
Low dose equates to 1-2 vape puffs OR 1/4 to 1/2 of a 10mg edible.
- Inhalation methods; has immediate onset and can last 1-2 hours. 1 puff per 30 minutes is equal to a “low dose” - Tinctures; taken under the tongue have intermediate onset, taking 15-30 minutes and lasting 3-5 hours. - Edibles have a delayed onset over 1-2 hours and effects may last 6-8 hours.
One of cannabis’ greatest advantages as a medicine is its remarkable safety.
Based on thousands of years of use, anecdotal reports, and extensive research, we know it is impossible to consume enough to produce a fatal effect in the body.
However, if you are unfamiliar with its use, you should familiarize yourself with the possible side effects:
· Euphoria · Uneasiness / Paranoia (usually from too much THC) · Hunger and thirst/Dry mouth · Eye redness/Dry eyes · Drowsiness/Sleepy · Transient increased heart rate, increased or decreased blood pressure (bp) · Interactions with certain medication discuss with medical provider SOME POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS
If you do become uncomfortable, you can try: CBD oil
· Napping. · Drinking water · Drinking Lemonade or chewing lemon zest · Chew Peppercorn **CBD can tame the head high of THC.
If you find that you are sensitive to THC, you can find a CBD-rich strain. You’ll still experience the effects of both cannabinoids, just with less of a head high
