Yhdysvallat // United States IFF:N OTETTUA KÄYTTÖÖN maanosittaiset MM-karsinnat ja -kiintiöt, Amerikan-lohkon maapaikasta ovat kamppailleet Yhdysvallat ja Kanada, koska Etelä-Amerikan puolelta kovasti kaivattua haastajaa ei ole vielä ilmaantunut. Yhdysvallat ja Kanada pelasivat karsinnan kohtaamalla kahdesti, joista yhteispisteitä enemmän kerännyt sai MM-lopputurnauspaikan. Yhdysvallat ylitti riman kirkkaasti voittamalla kummatkin kamppailut voitoin 6–2 ja 5–3 Marie Häggströmin nakuttaessa yhteensä viisi maalia. Häggströmillä on kokemusta Suomesta, sillä hän on pelannut Tampereella Classicissa. Yhdysvaltojen maajoukkue koostuu sekä Euroopassa pelaavista kaksoiskansalaisuuden omaavista että eri puolilla Yhdysvalloissa pelaavista, joilla yhteisiä leiripäiviä taktiikan hiomiseksi ei ole liiemmälti takana.
AS IFF INTRODUCED continental WFC qualifiers and quotas, the Americas´ one spot was fought out between the United States and Canada, but in future years we expect to see a South American &/or Caribbean challenger join the competition in the women’s side.. The United States and Canada played the qualifying round by meeting twice. USA topped the bar clearly winning both games 6–2 and 5–3 and Marie Häggström, who until this season played in Tampere’s top women’s league team, Classic, found the net five times. US National Team is composed of a mix of dual citizenship players in Europe and those playing in different parts of the United States. Knowing this fact, it is no wonder that common training camps for rehearsing tactics and team playing are hard to arrange.
