THE 18TH EDITION The 18th edition of the Wiring Regulations (BS 7671:2018) will replace 17th edition from July 2018 onwards. All electrical installations designed after 31st December must comply with the new regulations. This City & Guilds Level 3 (18th edition) Requirements for Electrical Installations (2382-18) qualification is in principal targeted at practising electricians with significant experience in the field, and other allied professionals e.g. surveyors, consultants and other trades needing to update and enhance their understanding of the IET Wiring Regulations.

WHAT IS LIKELY TO CHANGE? •

Protection against over-voltages - Clause 443 is likely to be reconstructed

•

Protection against fire - Chapter 42 will be updated with extra information on arc fault detection

•

Electrical embedded heating - Section 753 will be extended to include embedded electrical heating systems for surface heating, and will include de-icing and frost prevention systems

•

There will be a brand new appendix covering energy efficiency

•

Changes to the regulations relating to wiring systems in escape routes will be covered

HOW IS THIS COURSE DELIVERED? WE WILL BE OFFERING TWO COURSES: Requirements for Electrical Installations - City & Guilds (2382-18) 18th Edition UPDATE COURSE This will be a one day course including teaching and the 2382-18 exam and is only suitable for people who have completed the 17th Edition Amendment 3; 2382 - 15. (Proof of 17.3 completion required). Requirements for Electrical Installations - City & Guilds (2382-18) 18th Edition FULL COURSE This is a 3 day course which is suitable for everyone. This course is entirely classroom based, it introduces wiring regulations and covers their application through explanation and worked examples. All candidates will cover all required theory and undertake exam preparation. All courses conclude with the online exam detailed below.

HOW IS THE COURSE ASSESSED? We will ensure that you are fully prepared for the City & Guilds 18th Edition test which is a 2-hour multiple-choice online examination. The exam is ‘open book.’ Please note, where required all candidates will be loaned a copy of the Wiring Regulations for the duration of their programme. This cannot be removed from the centre.
