WELCOME BACK 19 INDEX

Dear Salem State Students, Welcome to the 2019-2020 Academic Year! As you think about your goals for the year ahead and into the future, please remember that our faculty, staff and administrators are here to guide you in any way that we can. I hope you will take advantage of the many resources we offer on our campus, and please know that I can be a resource for you as well. I encourage you to visit during my open office hours and say hello when you see me around campus. Hearing from students is my favorite part of serving as Salem State’s president, and it is crucial to the work that I do. At Salem State, we take great pride in being your choice institution as you seek to learn, grow, create and lead. I encourage all of you to get involved in our campus community – whether volunteering through our Center for Civic Engagement, joining one of our many student clubs and organizations, participating in intramurals or club sports, applying for student employment or studying abroad. Many of our students have already exercised their leadership skills by weighing in on how we can best serve them. This year alone, student voices have led us to unveil a new dining experience that will include 24/7 dining in Marsh Dining Commons, add premium singles for upper-class students in Bowditch Hall and introduce new sustainable commuting options.

As we re-connect with upper-class students returning to campus, we are also welcoming a new class of Vikings who are either entering as first years or have transferred from another institution. Please join me in helping these students take the Viking Plunge, our extended orientation program.
