From the Head of Junior School Young Leaders Day I had the great pleasure of escorting our Junior School leaders to the Young Leaders Day in Brisbane. They were inspired by many great leaders who taught them that they are somebody and they can be the ones to lead change in their lives and in the life of the College. Karni Liddell, paralympian bronze medalist said “that every single one of us has a choice in life and the hardest thing you have to do in life is to have the courage to say out aloud that you want do Possessions something.” Recently we have had a pile of lost property from the swimming carnival and shoes accidentally mixed up from an Andy Griffith said “write your own book, photocopy it and excursion. This is a timely reminder to make sure that you get feedback from your friends and family about what they name all of your children’s belongings. think.” Lorin Nicholson said “say what you mean, mean what you say and don’t say anything mean”. He shared a story about determination with the message being “Don’t let anybody tell you that you can’t do something”. Swimming Carnival Last Friday we held our annual Years 4-6 Swimming Carnival. It was a great event where competitors swam their hardest and showed great sportsmanship. Congratulations to Binging who were the winning house for the day, but all of the students who competed and gave their best were also winners. Thank you to Mr Manion, Mr Pett, Mrs Walker and all the people who put together the carnival together.

Camp We hope and pray that the Year 4 students have a fantastic camp at Tyalgum. The teachers have been working very hard on the program and it promises to be a great adventure. Thank you Thank you to all the families for your patience during the recent concrete pour. It was great to see so many families use the free bus shuttle on that day. A number of the younger students were excited about their first bus ride. Farewell A big thank you to Ayako Iwasaki who has been working on contract with us at St Andrews Lutheran College while Sharon Taki has been on maternity leave. We thank you for service to our students who have been able to grow from your teaching. We will miss you and we wish you all the best at your new school. We welcome back Sharon Taki after a year’s maternity leave and we look forward to her return. Cyber Safety The Cyber world is a great and safe world; it’s how we use it that creates issues. Darrin Schumacher Deputy Principal/Head of Junior School
