Dear Friends,

The past year and a half has been challenging, to say the least, for our community, nation, and world.

COVID has changed our way of life, livelihood, the way we do business as well as the way we interact with people. However, the mission of The Salvation Army remains strong – we serve without discrimination providing food, clothing, and shelter to those in need. But more importantly, we provide hope and tools for individuals and families to lift themselves up out of hopelessness.

As the pandemic worsened in our community, we saw the need change. Emergency Shelters that used to just provide overnight housing, began feeding the families that lived there. Food Pantries began getting requests for food deliveries as fear spread throughout the community. Knowing that there were still those struggling, The Salvation Army began to adapt.

We began offering Mobile Food Distributions in several neighborhoods throughout Buffalo. We started our Supper in the Street program that provides a hot meal to families in the Riverside neighborhood. We began delivering groceries to individuals who could not get to a grocery store or food pantry. We’ve helped families find suitable housing and helped them move from our Emergency Family Shelter into their new home. We’ve provided over 500 fully stocked backpacks to children involved with our Program and Services. All of this wouldn’t have been possible without the support and generosity of individuals and businesses in the Buffalo community.

As we head into another Holiday Season, millions of Americans face the threat of not being able to celebrate the holidays as they continue to battle the impacts of pandemic poverty.

63% of Americans have been living paycheck to paycheck 20 Million households don’t have enough to eat 7.1 Million Americans are behind on rent

Please consider supporting families in the Buffalo community who are living paycheck to paycheck; who are just one missed payment away from being homeless; who won’t be able to buy toys for their children to open Christmas morning.

We will continue Doing The Most Good for individuals and families in need in Buffalo because through cold mornings, long days and hungry nights Hope Marches On.
