Climate change, climate emergency or environmental degradation - take your pick, they all amount to the same: we have messed up our planet and we have to fix it. Over 1,000 people recently took part in the Global Climate Strike protest at Guildhall Square on 20th September, along with millions of people across the globe. Inside, a range of articles touch upon sustainability, while John Worsey has written a wry, philosophical piece about how we can each move to finding a greener way (p.40). We also asked three local environmentalists for their take on the crisis and for ideas about what we in Southsea can do to try to reduce our impact upon our beautiful planet (p.38).
