బిద్ధక్రంచమని వేడుకుంటూ అనేక మంద్ధ కలవప.” (క్రరత 16:11). సైనిక అధ్ధక్ారుల దగగ రకు అమాయకంగా ఘనతా ప్ిభావములు ఆయన ప్రుగ్టి ంద్ధ. జ్నన మరణములు ప్ిభువప సనినధ్ధని ఉననవి బలమును యొకక అధ్ీనములని తెలియని సంతోషమును ఆయన యొదా ఉననవని అమాయకుర్ాలు, ఆమ ద్ీనావసి ను చూచి ఇశ్ాియేలీయుల చర్టతి ద్ా​ార్ా అనేకమంద్ధ కనీనరుప్టటికునానరు. తెలుసుకుంటటనానము (1 ద్ధన 16:27) వృద్ాిప్ాంలో తనను పో ష్ిసత ాడని, నడవలేని అందుక్ద వారు ప్ిభువని విద్ధచిప్టి కుండా సి​ిత్రలో తన చేయ ప్టటిక్ొని నడిప్ిసత ాడని ఆయనతో సంతోషంతో సాగటపో వపచునానరు. ఆమ కనిన కళ్లు కటి గాటటిక్ొని ప్ిభవప ఆమను చూచి శ్వారూప్ంలో తన కనునల ముంద్ే ఊహించలేదు. ఆమయందు కనికరప్డి ఏడువ వదా ని పాడిని ఎవారు ముటటిక్ోవడం లేదు; గాని ఆమతో చెప్ును. అతడు తేడా ఏమిటంటే అతడు శ్ార్ీర్టకంగా మరణంచిన తరువాత చావప మారగ ంలో మరణంచాడు మనమైతే ఆత్మాయంగా తోడులేని ప్యనం అనగా ఒంటర్ట మరణంచాము. ప్ియాణం చేసాడు. గాని ఇప్పుడెైతే క్రిసత ు యేసుని మారగ ం విడిచి జీవమారగ ంలో సరాలోక్ానిక్ర రక్షకుడెైన సాతాను మారగ ంలో నడిచే ప్ిత్ర ఒకకరు క్రిసత ుతో ప్యనిసుతనానడు. ఇంతక్రితం చచి​ినవార్ద, ఏ బేధమును లేదు అందరు అతడు తనక్ొరక్ద బిద్ధక్ాడు గాని పాప్ము చేసి ద్ేవపడు అనుగిహించు యప్పుడెైతే క్రిసత ు క్ొరకు జీవిసుతనానడు. మహిమను పొ ందలేక పో వపచునానరు “అందుకు యేసు - (ర్ోమా 3:23). అంతేక్ాదు ఒక ప్పనరుతాినమును నాయందు

 ఏదనాన చేయాలనాన నేరుిక్ోవాలనాన ఎలా చేయాలో నేర్ుద ఎనోన రక్ాల ప్పసత క్ాలునానయ, క్ాని జీవితంలో విజ్యం పొ ంద్ాలంటే సర్టయెైన సమాధ్ానం ద్ొ ర్క్ ట దద్ధ మాతిం అరుద్ే. అసలు ఫలభర్టతమైన జీవితం అవసరం ఏంటి ఏద్ో ర్ోజు ఇలాగడిచిపో తే చాలు కద్ా అనుకునే వాళ్ళు ఎందర్ో, క్ాని ర్ోజు ఎందుకు ఇలా ఏదనాన సాధ్ధంచాలి, ఓ జ్యజీవితం నేను పొ ంద్ాలి అని అనుకునే వారు మాతిం ఓ వాసత వామన ై నిరణయం త్మసుకునానరు అని రూడిగా చెప్ువచుి. విజ్యానిక్ర రహసాం అనే మాటకు ఎనోన సంభాషణలు ఉనాన ప్ర్టశుది గింధమన ై బైబ్బలు మాతిం ఓ ప్ితేాకమన ై నీత్రగల మార్ాగనిన ఖ్చి​ితంగా భోధ్ధసత ుంద్ధ.

ద్ేవపడు మనిష్ిక్ర జీవితానిన అనుగిహించాడు, ఈ జీవితంలో విజ్యం పొ ందడానిక్ర ఓ మూల గింధ్ానిన కూడా ఇచి​ి సమాధ్ానానిన వెతుకుకనే భాదాత మాతిం మనమీద్ే ఉంచాడు. మన గుర్టంచి మన కంటే మనలను సృష్ి​ించిన ద్ేవపనిక్ద బాగా తెలుసు. మన జీవితంలో ఎలాంటి అనుభూత్రని పొ ంద్ాలో ఎటటవంటి విజ్యం పొ ంద్ాలో ఆయనక్ద తెలుసు. యోహాను 10:10 ప్ిక్ారం “గకఱ్ఱెలకు జీవము కలుగుటకును అద్ధ సమృధ్ధిగా కలుగుటకును నేను వచి​ిత్రనని మీతో నిశ్ియముగా చెప్పుచునానను”. ఈ మాటలో సమృద్ధాయెైన జీవితానిక్ర సమాధ్ానం పొ ందగలం. అంతేక్ాకుండా బైబ్బలులో క్ొందరు వాకుతల ద్ా​ార్ా కూడా నేరుిక్ోవచుి. వీర్టలో యెహో షువ ప్ితేాకమన ై వాడు.

rotestants today are largely unaware of their own history, and unaware of the Geneva Bible (which is textually 95% the same as the King James Version, but 50 years older than the King James Version, and not influenced by the Roman Catholic Rheims New Testament that the King James translators admittedly took into consideration).

Nevertheless, the King James Bible turned out to be an excellent and accurate translation, and it became the John Eliot most printed book in the history of the world, and the only book with one billion copies in print. In fact, for over 250 years...until the appearance of the English Revised Version of 18811885...the King James Version reigned without much of a rival. One little -known fact, is that for the past 200 years, all King James Bibles published in America are actually the 1769 Baskerville spelling and wording revision of the 1611. The original “1611” preface is deceivingly included by the publishers, and no mention of the fact that it is really the 1769 version is to be found, because that might hurt sales. The only way to obtain a true, unaltered, 1611 version is to either purchase an original pre -1769 printing of the King James Bible, or a less costly facsimile reproduction of the original 1611 King James Bible. Although the first Bible printed in America was done in the native Algonquin Indian Language by John Eliot in 1663; the first English language Bible to be printed in America by Robert Aitken in 1782 was a King James Version. Robert Aitken’s 1782 Bible was also the only Bible ever authorized by the United States Congress. He was commended by President George Washington for providing Americans with Bibles during the embargo of imported English goods due to the Revolutionary War. In 1808, Robert’s daughter, Jane Aitken, would become the first woman to ever print a Bible… and to do so in America, of course. In 1791, Isaac Collins vastly improved upon the quality and size of the typesetting of American Bibles and produced the first "Family Bible" printed in America... also a King James Version. Also in 1791, Isaiah Thomas published the first Illustrated Bible printed in America...in the King James Version. Mordecai Is A Faithful Follower Of The King Mordecai was sitting by the king’s gate when he overheard two of the king's officers who were the guards of his doorway, discussing how angry they were at King Xerxes. They were so angry with him that they made plans to kill him.

Mordecai overheard the plan and told Queen Esther about it. She reported to the king the plan made by the unfaithful guards and told him that Mordecai had given her the information. The king had the report investigated, and when he found out that it was true, he had the two unfaithful guards hanged on a gallows. All of this was recorded in the book of history kept for King Xerxes. Much later, when the king could not sleep one night, he had someone read from the record book. They read him the story of how Mordecai saved his life by exposing the assassination plan made by the two

unfaithful guards. The king then asked what kind of reward had been given to Mordecai. When he found out that nothing had been done, King Xerxes asked his helper, Haman, what should be done for a man whom the king wanted to honour. Haman thought the king wanted to honour him, so he suggested the man should get to wear one of the king's royal robes and ride on a horse that the king had ridden with a royal crest on its head. Then, he suggested that one of the king's nobles lead the horse around the city saying, "This is what is done for the man the king delights to honour." In the end, Mordecai was honoured and rewarded for being faithful, and Haman was punished for his unfaithfulness (Esther 6:11, Esther 7:10).

In 2011, Facebook users changed their profile picture an average of 18 times. That’s an average figure - some people changed their profile picture every second day and others haven’t changed theirs since April 2007. Women change their Facebook picture on average every 2 weeks. Men change theirs less frequently, changing pictures every 3 weeks. The average profile picture will receive 3 likes and 2 comments and the number of profile pictures has tripled since 2006. Facebook profile pictures make up 10% of all photos on Facebook and if you’re average you will have 26 profile pictures.

Why do people change their photo so often? If we are honest, I think we would admit that having a good image is part of why we change our profile picture so often and it’s not the only thing we do to look good or impress others.

What are you really like?

We are a society that is always buying new shoes and new clothes. Advertising entices us to have the latest iPhone or iPad. We try to have the latest apps, the latest haircut and our latest  | 21

While there’s nothing bad about having nice clothes, having a mobile phone or getting a haircut occasionally, something begins to go wrong when we’re putting all our efforts into presenting a good image of ourselves and begin to ignore what’s happening on the inside of our lives.

Jesus once said of the Pharisees that everything they did was for show (Matthew 23:5). Jesus suggests that all their activities were directed towards gaining the approval of others and impressing people. Jesus went on to say the Pharisees were like cups that were clean on the outside but filthy on the inside. (Matt 23:25).

The Pharisees, it seems, were so busy impressing people and looking good that their relationship with God and their inner life was no good at all.

Is it time to get real?

Sometimes we’re exactly like the Pharisees. We spend all of our time worrying about what people think of us and put our energy, time and money into creating an image that we hope people will like. Sometimes this obsession with impressing others shows up in our profile pictures. Sometimes we’re so busy changing profile pictures, that we ignore God and we miss the fact that our lives are hollow. There’s a lot happening on the outside but not much is going on inside.

Jesus called the Pharisees hypocrites because of the way they were always trying to get attention and impress people. A hypocrite is a fake, someone who isn’t being their true selves. If the same is true for us maybe it’s time we asked whether our profile page is really just one big fakebook.

Missionary

Dr. Ida Scudder

T

he most renowned medical missionary family was the Scudders who served for generations in India and elsewhere. In 1819 John Scudder left his growing practice in New York City and sailed for Ceylon with his wife and child. They served for thirty-six years in Ceylon and India, and during that time thirteen more children were born.

Of the nine who survived to adulthood, seven became missionaries, most of them specializing in medicine like their father. In four generations, forty-two members of the Scudder family became missionaries, contributing well over one thousand combined years of missionary service. Among those forty-two was Ida, the daughter of John Scudder’s youngest son, also named John and also a medical missionary to India.

Ida Scudder was born in India in 1870 and grew up well-acquainted with the trials of missionary life, particularly the pain of separation from loved ones. When she was a youth, her family returned to America for furlough, after which her father sailed to India alone.

Two years later her mother joined him, leaving her daughter with relatives in Chicago. After high school, she remained in the United States to attend a “young ladies’ seminary” in Northfield, Massachusetts, founded by D. L. Moody.
