Marble has served as a decorative material for years. Carved out as stones and marble statues, you can see them as decorative pieces in several shapes, sizes and plethora of colors. But, all marble statues require good care whether you place them in the interiors or outsides your home. Marble god statues require periodic care and cleaning to maintain their smoothness and perfect appearance. Rough cleaning material or the use of acidic agents may roughen the marble surface. Mix two tsp. of dish detergent in a bucket filled with warm water. Use a soft cloth or sponge to dip in the lathered water and wipe the marble statue from top to bottom. Make sure you rinse the cloth or sponge often in the bucket. Not rinse the marble statue to clear out all the dirt from the bucket and then use a towel to dry it completely.

Tips to remove stains from the marble god statues         

In order to remove stains from marble god statues, mix baking soda with hydrogen peroxide and make a paste. Apply a thick paste of this on the stained part of the statue with a spatula. Cover the part with the help of a plastic wrap Leave it for at least a day like this. Now remove the plastic wrap to see if the poultice has dried or not. If it is not dry, then leave it for another 24 hours. Stick a tape over it so that it is steady and doesn’t fall. When it is completely dry, use a plastic knife to remove the poultice from the marble surface. Rinse any leftover poultice from the statue and use a towel to dry it. Re-apply the poultice if the stain is not completely gone. It may sometimes take two or more applications for the stubborn stains to go away completely. The poultice is extremely beneficial for the removal of kumkum, Haldi and other such stains from the marble god idols.

Sprinkle some corn starch on the greasy spot Allow it to remain there for at least 30 minutes. It will absorb the grease completely. Wipe away the powder with a damp cloth. Dry the statue with a soft cloth.
