Greenie’s Greetings With Director Mike Green "Good afternoon everyone and welcome back to the Premier Plus Stadium for today‘s United Counties League Premier Division South match. Today we extend a warm welcome to the players, officials and supporters of Lutterworth Town Football Club and we hope you enjoy our hospitality this afternoon“ So, almost another calendar month has slipped by and we are finally back on familiar soil after trips to Aylestone Park and Cogenhoe United and of course Saturday’s postponement of our scheduled trip to Daventry Town. The lads managed to pick up four points out of six from the two away days and have extended our unbeaten run to eleven games and I know they will be itching to increase that today. Our last appearance here was the Hunts Senior Cup Semi final win over Godmanchester Rovers, a game in which we comfortably beat our near neighbours 3-0 however due to the match officials allowing us to make a fourth substitution in the eighty-eighth minute when Issy came on to replace Jordan, we now have to replay the game after the local FA sat and decided what was to happen. We can now confirm that this game will take place on Tuesday evening (20th February), here at the Premier Plus Stadium, kicking off at 7:45pm. Back to today’s game. Another tough one in store and we will have to be on our game to get anything positive so let’s get behind the boys from the off and hopefully come full time, we will have extended our recent unbeaten run.

Boardroom Gossip From The Dugout With Chairman BarryCameron Cavilla With Manager Mawer " I’d like to welcome everyone associated with Lutterworth Town to the Premier Plus stadium. The reverse fixture seems like a long time ago and was a very evenly matched contest. Lutterworth are a very tough side to play against and I am sure this fixture will be no different.“. One defeat in their last four shows what a difficult side they are to play against and victory against Newport and a point against Aylestone shows on their day, they can compete with any side in the league. Last time out we visited a tough Cogenhoe side who were unbeaten in six at home. We managed to get over the line when we weren’t anywhere near our best but full credit to them, they made us fight right until the death to secure an important three points. We have to focus on ourselves now we are eleven unbeaten in all competitions and building some momentum in our play, we know our points target as a group and we have improved the squad as the season goes on to help reach that, but we are taking it one game at a time and making sure we do our job. Whatever happens in the next twelve games, we can all be immensely proud of what we all have done this year as a club. We have built a brand new squad, we have the best away and defence record in the league and we have connected as staff, players, fans, volunteers, academy and board members. In my eyes, I wasn’t planning for overnight success, it was to build foundations in which to build long term success from, and we are in that process now. This is the first opportunity I have to welcome Charlie Bowen to the club, again someone who I chased in the summer and it wasn’t quite right for all parties at the time but Steve Kuhne played a big part in rekindling the conversation and as soon as I knew it was doable we got him secured. He’s a proper centre back and someone who’s excellent defending his own penalty area but also a threat in the opposition’s. I have to address the disappointment from all I’m sure regarding the Godmanchester semifinal cup win, it was something I wasn’t aware of in terms of the three from five substitutions. It’s something I should have known, but now we have to go get the job done again, and I have faith in the boys that come next Tuesday, the whole saga will be behind us.

The support home and away has been amazing this year and we now need you to help push us over the line for the next 12 league games, thank you for your support once again.

Boardroom Gossip Boardroom Gossip With Chairman Barry Cavilla With Chairman Barry Cavilla “ Good afternoon all and welcome for todays United Counties Premier Division South match at the Premier Plus Stadium. I would like to welcome all the players, officals and supporters of our visitors for today’s home fixture Lutterworth Town”. It seems a long time ago when we travelled to Lutterworth earlier this season and had to work extremely hard to secure a victory against a well organised and hard working team, of which we expect much the same again today. Cameron and the lads have been quietly getting on with their league programme with many away fixtures already completed and have built up a good head of steam and are pushing the top few teams all the way with a fine unbeaten run of games . So as we push into the final dozen games of the season and our squad all in good shape, we are hopeful of maintaining our fine run and performances to keep us in the hunt for that chance to secure a playoff or promotion position ,with at least 8 home fixtures still to come and many of the teams around us still to play, hopefully this will be an exciting time for the team and the Fantastic Saints supporters to rally the team and push them on and reach it’s goal and the next level. Enjoy your afternoon and thankvyou all for your continued support.

Your Town, Your Team.

Barry

ST NEOTS TOWN

“Sometimes you have to win ugly“ was the concise summing up of Manager Cameron Mawer after watching his side struggle to beat basement side Lutterworth Town who have yet to pick up a league point this season after six matches. St Neots struggled to find their usual rhythm on a difficult pitch in first half driving rain and will have been relieved to retain their 100% record after an indifferent afternoon in Leicestershire. Even the final score line does not replicate the match for St Neots third and clinching goal came six minutes into added time when the home side threw everything forward in the vein hope of a share of the points. With successive matches to follow against two of the pre-season promotion favourites St Neots will need to return to a more confident performance if they are to retain their unbeaten record. With skipper Kyle Lincoln injured and Rav Kalek unavailable, St Neots rested Tom Rowley and included Tommy Reynolds, Dean Dummett, and Sam Johnson in their starting line-up. Neither side looked comfortable in the driving rain in the first half hour, but St Neots broke the deadlock in their first real attack when Sam Johnson rounded his marker to pull the ball back for Harvey Williams to open the scoring after 15 minutes. The home keeper did have to save at the feet of Lorrell Smith and after Nathan George had headed over from a Johnson corner, St Neots began to dominate the attacking play. The home side then levelled the scores against the run of play after 33 minutes when a harsh handball offence against George handed the home side a penalty kick confidently netted by Jack Bonell.Williams shot wide for the visitors and George again headed over the bar but two minutes into first half added time Williams crossed for James Hatch to give St Neots a narrow half time advantage. Although the weather improved after the break the contest lacked any real continuity with St Neots defensively comfortable but making little attacking headway. After 66 minutes another corner was despatched over the bar by George and the home side lost a player, sin-binned, giving St Neots some numerical advantage and still more possession.

BLAST FROM THE PAST Saturday 26th August 2023

Both Williams and substitute Dom Lawless sent efforts over the target and St Neots seemed to be coasting to victory but after 85 minutes the largely unemployed St Neots custodian James Goff had to pull out a top class fulllength save to deny Divine Okyere. In the sixth minute of added time with the home keeper joining his attack for a corner, substitute Israel Ajana broke from his own half to outrun the solitary defender and put the ball in the unguarded home net to clinch a welcome but rather pallid if hard earned victory. John Walker's Match Preview LUTTERWORTH TOWN

Year founded: 1920 Chairman: Andy Dixon Club Website: www.lutterworthtownfc.co.uk GOOD AFTERNOON AND WELCOME TO OUR VISITORS MAKING THEIR FIRST TRIP TO ST NEOTS Earlier this season our two clubs met for the first time at Dunley Way, Lutterworth, when goals from James Hatch, Harvey Williams and Israel Ajana gave us a 3-1 victory with Jack Bonell scoring for our hosts. Currently fifteenth in the table, Lutterworth have struggled for results but kicked off 2024 in style with two home victories as they defeated Yaxley and Bugbrooke on consecutive Saturdays. Like us, they were sidelined by the weather last Saturday so both teams will be glad to be back on action today. Last season they finished just above the relegation zone and are still seeking consistency in the UCL. However, with a home league victory over Newport Pagnell recently they seem to be finding their feet and this avenged a defeat in the League Cup earlier in the season. In that competition they had seen off Boston Town in the first round. In the FA Vase they were beaten 2-0 at Aylestone Park. Today sees a run of three consecutive home league fixtures after three scheduled away trips. Next week we host high flying March Town followed by a visit from Racing Club Warwick who recently switched the leadership of the Division with Wellingborough Town so the next month could be significant for all promotion hopes at the end of the season. Meantime our U18 squad have completed their home fixtures and have three away trips to complete their programme.

Previous meeting of our teams: 26 Aug 2023 Lutterworth Town 1

Enjoy the match.

Seasons Past - With John Walker This Edition Focuses on Season 2012/13

s is another in the series of historical records, highlighting our recent spell in the Southern League depicting both the highs and the lows in the recent proud history of the Club. It was very challenging and a more competitive season being the first ever at Step Three – the highest ever level achieved by the club. However, amongst the benefits were a far greater scope of interest with play-offs for promotion and the challenges of a greater number of automatic relegations. As testament to that, our final game of the season at Gosport featured a home side needing to win to seal the final play-off place which they did with the only goal of the game in first half added-on time, and they went on against the odds to beat Stourbridge and Hemel Hempstead (both away from home) to earn promotion to the Conference. We flattered to deceive after a great start and were second in the league in October only to finish twelfth in the final table. League

Our final eight league matches yielded one win, one draw and six defeats. A long-lasting memory for players and supporters was our 5-0 thrashing of Cambridge City at Milton Road with Stefan Moore scoring one of our fastest ever UCL goals (26 seconds) and Ben Mackey claiming a hat trick but our most memorable league match was a 4-3 home victory over Kettering Town after trailing our visitors 3-0 after 55 minutes all thanks to an injury time goal from Lewis Hilliard. We won the Huntingdonshire Senior Cup Cup beating Huntingdon Town in a penalty shoot-out. We did not run a Reserve side after our resignation from the Peterborough League. Youth Team Match Report Haverhill Borough (H) 08-01-2024 Thurlow Nunn Youth League West Division ST NEOTS TOWN U183

HAVERHILL BOROUGH U18

St Neots returned to the top of the league table with this workmanlike if not impressive victory over visitors Haverhill Borough. They had to work hard for the points especially in the second half when the visitors staged a determined comeback after a rather pallid first half display. However, second placed Deeping Rangers with matches in hand are still firm title favourites. There was a slow start with St Neots unable to capitalise on clear territorial superiority. It was 19 minutes before there was a serious shot on target and then visiting keeper Harry Humpage saved well from Caleb Wright. Just one minute later Frankie Webster spurned a glorious chance firing high over the bar but after 23 minutes St Neots went ahead as Caleb Wright scored his seventh goal of the campaign with a neat finish. The visitors’ first clear chance fell to Jeffrey Afriyie on the half hour, but he shot across the face of goal and then at the other end the lively Lucca Ugarte-Edwards fired over the bar. The first half ended with the best save of the match from Humpage to deny Wright a second goal after good work by Toby Pendrick. The visitors started the second half in a more positive way and home keeper Alex Bent saved well from Kyle Markwell. However, after 54 minutes the lead was increased when Lucca Ugarte-Edwards burst into the area to be upended and from the resultant penalty award he added to St Neots lead. Undeterred the visitors persevered and nine minutes later won a penalty of their own when Danny Lively was fouled and it was he who netted from the spot. The same visiting player then went clear on goal but shot wide with only the keeper to beat. Visiting substitute Lennie Brindley squandered a great chance top level the scores and his side paid the penalty when defender Joel Jolly confirmed St Neots victory two minutes from time with a goal from a corner. HUNTINGDONSHIRE SENIOR CUP SEMI-FINAL ST NEOTS TOWN

3

GODMANCHESTER ROVERS

0

On a wild evening of weather St Neots eased through to their first Senior Cup Final for five seasons where their opponents will be St Ives Town who won their semi-final tie across the town at Eynesbury Rovers. Two second half goals including one from debutante striker Michael Amaeshike saw them safely through as they recorded their third victory this season over visiting Godmanchester Rovers. Amaeshike was one of three team changes taking the place of Rhys Thorpe who was cup-tied. The two other line-up changers saw the return to the side of Magloire Muyembe and Josh Brown at the expense of Christian Tavernier and on loan defender Robbie Parker. The first half saw St Neots playing into the wind which they seemed to have problems in combating. The visitors failed to take any advantage the conditions offered, and the result was an opening half hour of midfield exchanges with limited goalmouth action at either end with the only serious effort on goal a shot by the lively Harvey Williams that was just too high. However, the pattern of the game changed after Ben Tait had curled a shot just wide for the visiting side in the 34th minute. St Neots responded positively with an opening goal three minutes later as a slick three-man move saw James Hatch register his thirteenth goal of the season after clever play by Michael Amaeshike and Jordan Brown. Just sixty seconds later the home side should have extended their lead when Jordan Brown was played clear of the visiting defence but he shot disappointingly over the crossbar with only the keeper to beat.

John Walker's Match Report GODMANCHESTER ROVERS (H) 23-01-2024

The second half saw St Neots exploiting the conditions to their advantage. An early effort by Hatch was well saved by visiting keeper Ben Newton and then after 53 minutes a mistake by the visiting keeper handed Michael Amaeshike a debut goal to make it 2-0. The visitors regrouped but then Dean Dummett saw a fierce effort deflected for a corner. Then after 73 minutes the outcome was effectively decided as Jordan Brown twice went around the visiting keeper to net from an acute angle. The visitors’ best effort in reply came from Mani Gbejuade who brought a full length save from home keeper James Goff after 78 minutes. After that only a series of substitutions punctuated the remainder of the match as St Neots strolled to a comfortable victory. St Neots Town: Goff, Reynolds, Culkin, Dummett, Brookes, Josh Brown, Jordan Brown, Muyembe, Amaeshike, Hatch, Williams Subs: Akinbobola (for Hatch 77 mins), Rowley (for Williams 79 mins), George (for Josh Brown 82 mins), Ajana (for Jordan Brown 88 mins), and Nickels Cards: none Godmanchester Rovers: Newton, Sosoli, O’Boyle, Arnold, Wallis, Goodale, Watson, Tait, Gbejuade, Bakar, Spark Subs: Bates (for Spark 65 mins), Tagg (for Arnold 76 mins), Lindsay (for Gbejuade 56 mins), Turner and Fisher Cards: Arnold (Y – 67 mins), O’Boyle (Y – 87 mins) Attendance: 181 Referee: Oliver Pope (Cambridge)

The first ever meeting of these two sides was always going to be tight.Separated by just a point in the top five of the table and both with decent records, St Neots might well have settled for a draw before the match but having the luxury of playing against ten men for the last 45 minutes should have rendered a better result. In fact, after a red card for home defender Sam Preston, Aylestone were reduced to nine men for ten minutes with Lee Barrett sin-binned for verbal abuse at the Referee in the same incident. However, St Neots did come back from behind to earn their point and maintain their third place in the table. There were three changes in the starting line-up with recent signing Charlie Bowen making his debut and Rob Parker and Rhys Thorpe returning to the side, at the expense of Magloire Muyembe, Michael Amaeshike and Josh Brown. Harvey Williams broke though the home defence in the first minute but sent his effort wide and then the game settled as a very close contest between two well-match sides. Aylestone struck the first blow in their first attack of the match when a cross from the right found Sam Hollis not closely enough marked and he netted with a smart finish after eight minutes. Four minutes later in only their second serious attack the home side could have added to their lead, but James Goff prevented further embarrassment diving bravely at the feet of Hollis. The keeper also saved well from Cory Bucalossi but St Neots responded with skipper James Hatch twice just off target. As half time approached the home keeper saved well pushing a Jordan Brown effort around a post and then Hatch had a shot blocked on the line. Hatch also had a header from a Murphy Culkin corner well saved by Lewis Landers

John Walker's Match Report AYLESTONE PARK (A) 27-01-2024

The second half was just six minutes old when Rhys Thorpe was brought down in the area earning Preston his early bath and the St Neots striker got up to level the scores from the penalty spot. Playing against the depleted home side St Neots then basked in possession and territorial superiority but the home side filtered back in defence surrendering possession and denying St Neots best efforts to defend soundly. St Neots sent on a couple of substitutes to vary their attack but met with some resolute defending and when they did get clear sight of goal their finishing was disappointing. Rob Parker, (twice) Thorpe and Dean Dummett all sent efforts wide or high and with two minutes left Thorpe went clear of the home defence but shot over from a tight angle. St Neots final effort in added time saw a Hatch effort deflected for a corner. It was disappointing not to take advantage but at least St Neots stretched their inbeaten league run to ten league and cup matches St Neots Town: Goff, Reynolds, Culkin, Parker, Brookes, Bowen, Jordan Brown, Dummett, Thorpe, Hatch, Williams Subs: Muyembe (for Dummett 61 mins), Rowley (for Brown 80 mins), Nickels, Amaeshike, and George Cards: none Aylestone Park: Landers, Barrett, Kilburn, Preston, Peace, Towers, Hollis, Seal, Kee, Bucalossi, Keenan Subs: Wormleighton (for Seal 52 mins), Holley (for Kilburn 52 mins), Mitchell, Bessadi, Riley Cards: Preston (RED – 51 mins), Barrett (s/b – 51 mins), Towers (Y – 87 mins) Attendance: 193 Referee: Chris Walton (Kettering) (John Walker)

A well below form St Neots side ground out an unimpressive victory against a host side that had to play with ten men for well over an hour. However, the result extended their unbeaten run to eleven league and cup matches and kept then hot on the heels of the league leaders. When the two sides had met at St Neots earlier in the season both the performance and result had been similar and the in-form home side were unbeaten at home since 24th October. “Sometimes you have to win ugly” said Manager Cameron Mawer “but credit goes to the home side with a solid and determined defensive display”. He had opted for just the one team change with Nathan George returning to the defence after injury with Olly Brooks dropping to the bench. Defensively St Neots were sound but their tactics and finishing in difficult windy conditions left much to be desired. St Neots dominated from the outset with Harvey Williams lively down the flanks and Murphy Culkin keeping the home defence at full stretch dealing with his teasing long throws. Rhys Thorpe had an early chance for the visitors but shot wide and the home side never mounted a serious attack in response until 22nd minute when the under-employed James Goff saved smartly from Patryck Cichosz. In a quick counter attack from that save, the keeper sent James Hatch clear and he was upended by home defender Bradley Lunga earning him a red card dismissal and St Neots a penalty kick confidently despatched by Rhys Thorpe. That should have settled the nerves and they responded with a smart shot from Jordan Brown saved at full length by John Meadows and a shot from Thorpe deflected for a corner. James Hatch headed wide after good work by Brown and just before the break the home keeper made another excellent save to deny Brown.

John Walker's Match Report COGENHOE UNITED (A) 03-02-2024

St Neots failed to settle after the break and a series of bookings for both sides saw the game lose any semblance of pattern. St Neots forward passing was poor allowing the home defence to easily mop up most of their attacking play and Williams who seemed to have the better of his marker twice went down the left but finished offtarget on both occasions. Cogenhoe despite being a man short kept the visiting defence stretched but in the second half neither keeper was seriously tested. In the last ten minutes a close-range finish by Hatch was cleared off the line and Williams shot wide before the home side attempted a grandstand finish that saw the visiting defence under pressure. However, they held out for all three points to extend their record-breaking run.
