Greenie’s Greetings With Mike Green "Good Afternoon to you all and welcome back to the Premier Plus Stadium for today‘s Pitching-In Northern Premier League Midland Division match. This afternoon we extend a warm welcome to everyone connected to Lichfield City Football Club and we hope you enjoy our hospitality here with us this afternoon on what will be your first ever visit to St Neots”.

What a difference two weeks can make in this totally unpredictable division. Six points taken in the pst two outings and seven goals scored and in all honestly, really could and should have been double that amount. Our long awaited home game with near(ish) neighbours AFC Rushden and Diamonds proved to be the thrilling encounter that many predicted with both side roared on by a magnificent crowd of 391 on a Tuesday night eventually seeing us get over the line with a 3-2 win and then Saturday we made the long trek to Sutton Coldfield Town looking to avenge our last visit when we were soundly beaten 6-0. As I mentioned on soacial media after the game I believe that was the most comprehensive first half performace I have seen from ourselves at Step Four, we were absolutely magnificent, scoring some sublime goals and defendign stoutly.

We ended up winning 4-2 having been 4 up at the break. A brilliant afternoon for the Saints travelling fans and retribution fully achieved. Match reports from both these games can be found elsewhere in this edition.

Away from the football side of things, congratulations are in order for our newly formed darts team, winning their first league game on Thursday evening, beating the Hyde Park 8-1, so very well done to everyone involved.

Back to today, give the boys the support they deserve and hopefully we will be celebrating come 5pm

Boardroom Gossip From The Dugout With Chairman BarryCameron Cavilla With Manager Mawer “ Good afternoon and welcome back to the Premier Plus Stadium for today’s home game against Lichfield City. A warm welcome as well to our visitors, their management, players and supporters who’ve made the trip down for today’s match.”

We know today will be another tough test. Lichfield City have had a strong start to the season, picking up some impressive results and showing real consistency in their performances. They’re a well-organised side with good attacking threats, so we’ll need to be at our best and continue building on our recent momentum to get the result we want.

It’s been a really positive couple of weeks for us, with two strong results on the road. The lads showed great character to come away with a 3–2 win at home to Rushden & Diamonds, followed by another excellent performance in our 4–2 victory at Sutton Coldfield Town. The effort, attitude, and belief within the group have been first class, and it’s pleasing to see that hard work starting to pay off. We’re still very much in a building phase as a team — developing our identity, improving every week, and continuing to grow stronger together.

The aim now is to keep pushing and reach that 40-point mark as quickly as we can.

Once we get there, we can really start to focus on kicking on and seeing how far this group can go.

I also want to take a moment to say a huge thank you to Alex Minall, who left his position as First Team Coach last week. Alex has been a big part of what we’ve built here and has worked tirelessly for the club. We all wish him the very best for the future.

Finally, a massive thank you to our travelling fans. Your support over the last few away games has been brilliant — you really do make a difference, and the players appreciate every bit of it. Let’s keep that energy going today and make the Premier Plus Stadium bounce!

GOOD AFTERNOON AND A WELCOME TO THE PREMIER PLUS STADIUM TO LICHFIELD CITY FOR THEIR FIRST VISIT Like us, Lichfield are newcomers to the Northern Premier League having arrived on the back of promotion from the Midland League Premier Division and have started life at the higher level well. Sitting in eighth place in the table after last weekend they were just a point behind our lads with two games in hand and with a Tuesday evening fixture this week at home to Racing Club Warwick they could be ahead of us as we kick off this afternoon. They are recent newcomers to the game at this level having been established in 1970 (further details elsewhere in this programme) and had won five and drawn three of their opening eleven matches.They seem to travel well because three of their five league victories to date have been away from home at Bedworth, Carlton and Boldmere.

In the FA Cup Lichfield bowed out in their first match beaten 3-1at home by Hanley.

The Stoke on Trent based side then beat Belper United before losing at home to Stourbridge. In the FA Trophy Lichfield were beaten at home by the odd goal in three by Corby Town.

CLUB WELFARE OFFICER GEMMA KEECH My name is Gemma Keech and I am the Club Welfare Officer (CWO) for St Neots Town Football Club.

Each football club that offers youth and open aged football is required to have a Club Welfare Officer. I am responsible for ensuring the wellbeing of the children, young people and vulnerable adults who attend the club, whether that be within the Academy or players aged Under 18 in the First Team.

My role is to be the first point of contact for all club members and parents / carers regarding concerns for the welfare of anyone within the club that fall within this group.

St Neots Town Football Club have appointed me to this voluntary role because of my employment roles in Education and Children’s Social Care, and therefore my knowledge and experience in Safeguarding and Child Protection.

My aim to be an approachable person for young people and their parents or carers, as well as club members, where issues or concerns may arise. These issues may range from worries about not fitting in or feeling left out, an individual dangerous incident or situation, other adult or young persons’ behaviour or more serious allegations against another person, volunteer, member or professional at the Club.

A persistent rearguard action in the final fifteen minutes (including ten minutes added time) gave St Neots an important victory after two successive away defeats. It was a feisty encounter with St Neots defending in that last quarter of an hour with ten men after Harvey Henderson saw red after clashing with an opponent. They had established a comfortable three goals lead just past the hour and then a spirited comeback by the visitors tested their resolve, but they prevailed to climb to ninth place in the league table.

There was just one team change for the Saints with Kieran Barnes returning to the side in place of the unavailable Charlie Bowen. St Neots star man was Harvey Williams who scored twice after the break and tormented the visiting defence throughout with his pace and guile.

The scene was set early when in the first seven minutes Harvey Williams first cut in to force visiting keeper Lewis Elsom to block with his feet, and then he set up Rhys Thorpe with Elsom requiring two attempts to save. Rushden then suffered an early setback when skipper Joel Nketia limped off injured after 16 minutes, and then from a Williams corner Michael Amaeshike won the ball but headed over the bar. Little of significance was seen of the visiting attack although Aidan Webster had a shot blocked by Harvey Henderson. Meantime St Neots were keeping the visiting keeper busy as he saved well from Williams after Kieran Barnes had shot over the bar when well placed.The visitors then had to make a second first half substitution when Ollie Brown-Hill was injured and five minutes before half time St Neots deservedly made their first half domination count when Rhys Thorpe converted a Barnes cross to put them in front.

Tyler Winters had a good early second half opportunity to level the scores, but James Goff saved well and then St Neots confirmed their grip on the game when Connor Furlong went past two defenders to see his shot blocked, but the rebound fell to Harvey Williams who made it 2-0 to the home side. Just before the hour Elsom saved acrobatically from Thorpe at the expense of a corner and then at the other end from a visitors’ corner, Tejan Thomas headed over the bar.

MATCH REPORT AFC Rushden & Diamonds (H) 07 October 2025 Another injury to a visiting player saw them make their third substitution after 64 minutes, but St Neots continued their bombardment of the visiting goal as the overworked Elsom had to save full length from Williams. After 69 minutes Harvey Williams added his second goal following a Barnes corner not cleared by the visiting defence. Another visiting substitution followed and then in the last fifteen minutes the visiting side rallied and began to pressure the home defence. The tricky Bruno Andrade gave his side their missing impetus when he pulled a goal back from a long throw after 73 minutes and that sparked a Rushden revival. With five minutes left, the outcome of the match was in doubt when Andrade latched on to a though ball from David Adegbola to claim visitors second goal and with central defender Harvey Henderson sent off, the ten men had to concentrate on defence to protect their narrow advantage.

Goff made one important save from Tarik Dallas and St Neots sent on two late substitutes to bolster their defending and after those ten minutes of added time St Neots were able to celebrate an important victory.

A five-star first half display set St Neots up for an impressive away victory.

They led 4-0 after 45 mins and although they conceded two goals after the break – the second seven minutes into added time – they never looked anything but deserved and convincing winners. Manager Cameron Mawer was delighted with his side describing the performance as ‘immense’ pointing out that it was ten of his side that had lifted the UCL Championship shield almost six months earlier. ‘They have shown they are capable of competing at the higher level’ the delighted Manager commented. He made just one team change from the midweek victory over AFC Rushden and Diamonds restoring Charlie Bowen to the heart of the defence in place of Harvey Henderson who was on the bench. It was a fourth victory in six games lifting the Saints to sixth place in the league table with Harvey Williams scoring twice for the second consecutive match.

From the first whistle the visitors were in charge of proceedings. After just seven minutes Harvey Williams outpaced his marker to fire a low shot past the home keeper, and little was seen of the home attack apart from a shot blocked by a defender. Then after 21 minutes the visitors’ lead was extended when a long ball forward freed Rhys Thorpe and his shot deflected in off the underside of the crossbar. Connor Furlong was terrifying the home defence with his pace and after 28 minutes with St Neots still dictating play he picked out Murphy Culkin who had joined the attack, but his net bound effort was deflected for a corner. A delicate chip over the defence by Kieran Barnes rebounded from the foot of a post and when ten minutes before the break, the home side did create a clear opening, Jayden Campbell’s cross was headed tamely over the bar by Fraser Doyle. In the last ten minutes before half time St Neots thought they had put the outcome of the match without doubt as they added two further goals. First Harvey Williams added his second goal with a fine individual effort and then he unselfishly picked out the unmarked Michael Amaeshike at the far post to add goal number four.

MATCH REPORT Sutton Coldfield Town (A) 11 October 2025 Two half time substitutions did little for the hosts for on the hour the excellent Williams set up Furlong and when his net bound shot was blocked by a defender, Barnes followed up to fire in from a narrow angle which was cleared off the line by a second defender despite visiting appeals that the ball had crossed the line. Just past the hour in their first real second half attack the home side pulled a goal back when Fraser Doyle was left unmarked and he netted from close range. However, St Neots pressure on the home defence continued and home keeper James Wren twice denied Furlong with full length saves. Up for a Sam Willis corner, Charlie Bowen saw a header cleared off the line by a defender and Williams was denied a hat trick by a fine save by Wren. St Neots visibly tired in the final ten minutes as the home side pushed forward and James Goff saved well from James McGrady who then squandered a good chance heading high over the bar. Furlong was denied a goal his performance had deserved when Wren saved well, and the same visiting player then shot across the face of goal. Because of a lengthy delay due to an injury to a home player there were ten minutes added time and just before the final whistle the home side had the final word when following a corner, substitute Reece Gibson produced a searing shot to claim a late consolation for the home side.

St Neots returned from Chesham with another valuable point on the road but the reward from the outing could and should have been better. Their fortunes at The Meadow have never been good with just one point from five previous visits but they played well enough to have broken their duck on this occasion. After recovering from the shock of conceding an early own goal the visitors fought back to be level at the break before dominating the second period and leading 2-1 with countless goal scoring chances going begging but the concession of a late goal with just nine minutes remaining gave Chesham a share of the spoils. Skipper Luke Knight returned to the side having completed his one match ban to replace Kyron Wiltshire who began his two matches disciplinary punishment so that meant a second consecutive match in the midfield holding role for Harry O’Malley. However, defender Liam McDevitt returned as a late substitute following his six-match absence and with Taylor Parr missing for the next match this could be crucial.

St Neots began well enough with a Tom Meechan chip saved well and Scott Sinclair firing over the bar after good work by Johnny Herd.However, after 12 minutes St Neots habit of conceding an early goal occurred again when the unfortunate Taylor Parr turned a cross from Oran Swales past his own keeper at the near post.Then four minutes later he made suitable amends when at the other end he headed a Dylan Williams corner powerfully into the net to square the scores at 1-1. The match then settled into a fairly tight battle with both sides playing some neat attacking football but the two defenses looked confident and secure with Mike Emery saving well from Scott McGleish in a counter attack. Six minutes before the break another Parr header from a corner was beaten away by home keeper Hafed Al-Droubi but Emery was almost caught out two minutes later when a snap shot from former Saint Jhai Dillon sailed over his head but rebounded from the cross bar to be cleared. Benji Crilley was then booked for hauling Dylan Williams down as he tried to find a way through the defence and the half ended with Lewis Toomey shooting wide of goal.

BLAST FROM THE PAST Oct 18th 2017 - Chesham Utd (H)

The second half saw a distinct change to the pattern of play. St Neots keeper Emery became almost a spectator as his side began to dominate the attacking play. The wily Williams was brought down on the edge of the Chesham area but Jack Bradshaw’s free kick was blocked by the defensive wall and then Al-Droubi produced a fine reflex save from Tom Meechan who had turned smartly in the box to create space. The pressure continued with Luke Knight firing over the bar and Williams shooting narrowly wide after wriggling his way through the defence. Chesham had their moments in sporadic breakaway attacks and in one of these Emery produced the save of the match beating away an effort from Zac Reynolds when he appeared to be going the wrong way. Williams was proving to be the main threat to the home defence and when he was hauled down by Dhillon that earned a second booking for the home side.

With fourteen minutes remaining the pressure seemed to have paid off when a Williams effort was parried and Scott Sinclair followed up to net the loose ball to put St Neots in front. However, this setback seemed to energize the home side and they produced a late second goal from substitute Shane Bush after a Dhillon cross found him unmarked at the far post. It was a disappointing end to a good performance but Manager Matt Clements was philosophic choosing to praise the spirit and determination of his side against their improving hosts. ‘A point away from home is always good’ he observed.

The 5 questions that are asked each week are designed not only to encourage men to talk, but to start to focus on the positives and on strategies to keep moving forward. There is no pressure to answer any of the questions and it is not uncommon for men to just listen for the first few sessions. The clubs all run on the same format and adhere to the same guidelines. A key principle of ANDYSMANCLUB is anything that is said in the club, stayswithinthe club.

The Saints Community Memorial Wall We would like to formally announce that the Saints Community Memorial Wall is now ready and opportunities for Supporters to remember their loved ones, who may have been Saints Supporters themselves, are now available.

The Wall is completely under cover and protected from the elements and the flowers/shrubbery are cared for and tended to on a daily basis by our dedicated grounds staff. SST NEOTS TOWN FC 1975/76 SEASON This is the eighth in a series highlighting one of our final seasons at Shortsands to depict both the highs and the lows in the recent proud history of the Club. This was our third season back in the UCL since leaving the Eastern Counties League and it proved to be very testing. Stamford was the dominant factor in the league recording a league and cup double plus a trip to Wembley for the FA Vase Final. The first team struggled for consistency losing half of their 38 league matches League:

We failed to score in ten of 19 home league matches but were better away from home scoring four goals twice in matches at Rothwell Town and Olney Town where Peter Galloway claimed the only hat trick of the season We recorded two league ‘doubles’ – against Olney Town and Biggleswade Town – and those two teams finished bottom and bottom but one!

Our best cup result was a 5-1 home victory over lower graded Ortonians in a Hunts Senior Cup tie, but we were beaten away at Yaxley in the semi-final The Reserve team also struggled but scored 63 league goals in 38 league matches The top goal scorer was left-winger Peter Galloway with 13 goals followed

by Dave Whitney with ten The Joint Managers were Roger Currington and Neil Rawlings

Opponent Spotlight LICHFIELD CITY

Formed in 1970, Lichfield City Football Club grew out of Staffordshire’s grassroots scene and joined the West Midlands (Regional) League, climbing into Division One before the decade was out.

A previous Lichfield side had briefly graced the Birmingham Combination in the 1920s, but the modern incarnation soon became the city’s footballing standard.

Promotion as Division Two runners-up in 1990, then second in Division One four years later, earned the freshly rebranded “Lichfield City” a crack at Premier Division football—a bold step that captured civic imagination.

Financial pressures soon forced a resignation from Saturday competition, yet the club kept its heartbeat alive in Sunday leagues and resurfaced in 2008 with renewed purpose. That renaissance was rewarded in 2011 when City edged Continental Star Reserves 2–1 to lift the Midland Combination Challenge Vase.

League restructuring in 2014 placed City among the founders of the Midland League Division One, a stage they embraced with possession-based football, City Ground improvements and a thriving junior pathway. Jamie Hawkins’ team turned heads on 26 August 2019, sweeping Haughmond 3–0 to reach the FA Cup first qualifying round for the first time.

Hawkins left for Chasetown in February 2020, and former Atherstone Town boss Ivor Green arrived a month later. Guiding the side through two pandemic-curtailed seasons, Green secured promotion to the Premier Division in 2021 via a points-pergame ruling, restoring Step 5 football to the cathedral city.

Green’s youthful, largely home-grown squad capitalised on that momentum. In May 2023 they overpowered OJM 3–0 to win the JW Hunt Cup and retained it in 2024 with a 3–1 victory over Wolverhampton Sporting.

Their high-pressing style underpinned a relentless 2023–24 league campaign that ended second; City beat Highgate United 3–1 in the play-off semi-final before a 3–1 loss to Darlaston Town, watched by a record 1,110 spectators at the City Ground. The heartbreak only hardened resolve.

The response was emphatic. On 6 April 2025, Jack Edwards’ early strike set up a 3–0 win at Whitchurch Alport that clinched the Midland League Premier Division title and carried City into Step 4 and the Northern Premier League Division One Midlands.

Green’s men finished with 95 points and the league’s tightest defence, parading the shield beneath cathedral spires before jubilant supporters.

With the manager retained, academy prospects pushing forward and community backing stronger than ever, Lichfield City enters 2025–26 convinced that its greatest nights—sparked by cup upsets, promotion-clinching displays and fervent local support—still lie ahead.
