This afternoon we extend a warm welcome to everyone connected to Shepshed Dynamo Football Club and we hope you enjoy our hospitality here with us this afternoon”.

Firstly, I’d like to wish everyone a slightly belated Happy New Year and hope 2026 is full of happiness, good health and success for you all.

Well we hit a nice little pocket of form just at the right time, before and over the festive season, winning two and drawing one of the three games with the standout result being the win at second placed Belper Town. The bottom half of the table is such a tight affair and a win can make such a difference to a club’s position in their plight to avoid the bottom four places and relegation back to Step Five so hopefully we can continue where we left off on New Years Day at Wellingborough Town and secure another three points today.

Away from the pitch we have a fantastic night of entertainment lined up on Friday 29th January when Ex Arsenal and England Striker and current Sky pundit Alan Smith will be sharing stories as part of an evening to raise funds for Ex Academy player Angelo and his family to help with his rehabilitation after suffering brain damage, the result of a seizure and spending time in a coma in hospital. There will be two great comedians, an awesome MC and a fund raising auction on the night too so if you can come along, your £20 will be going to a great cause. Before I reflect on today’s game, I’d like to take a moment to mention a couple of changes behind the scenes. Firstly, a very warm welcome to Cláudio Dias, who joins us and we’re delighted to have him on board. At the same time, we say a big thank you and goodbye to the brilliant Chris Horgan, who departs us to take up an exciting opportunity with Luton Town’s first-team medical department as a physio. Chris has been outstanding in his role here and we wish him nothing but success in the next chapter of his career.

Turning to today’s opposition, Shepshed come into this game in good form. They picked up a win in their last match, and earlier in the season they beat us comfortably at their place. That result is very much in our minds and gives us all the motivation we need — not in a negative way, but as a reminder of how high the standards are in this league and how much we’ve had to improve since then.

We are a very different group now compared to that earlier meeting. Over our last three matches we have taken seven points from a possible nine, and more importantly, we are seeing real growth in confidence, belief, and togetherness within the squad. The recent 1–1 draw away at high-flying Wellingborough was another big step forward for us. It showed our discipline, our work rate, and our ability to compete with teams at the top end of the table What has pleased me most in recent weeks is not just the results, but the way the players are going about their work — the commitment in training, the willingness to learn, and the standards they are setting for each other. This group is developing a strong identity built on hard work, organisation, and togetherness and that gives us a really solid platform to keep building from. Games like today are a great opportunity for us to test ourselves again, to measure our progress, and to continue pushing the group forward. We respect Shepshed and their quality, but we also believe in ourselves and in what we are trying to build here.

I would also like to take this opportunity to say how much the support means to everyone at the club. Whether you travel home and away, volunteer your time behind the scenes, or simply come along on a Saturday to get behind the team — your support is genuinely appreciated and does not go unnoticed.

GOOD AFTERNOON AND A WELCOME TO THE PREMIER PLUS STADIUM TO SHEPSHED DYNAMO FOR THEIR FIRST VISIT TO TOWN A very happy New Year to all as we begin 2026 in an optimistic mood. This afternoon we offer a contest between two in-form sides who have both made a good start to the new calendar year. Our visitors have won their last two matches whilst our lads have two wins and a draw from their last three outings, so a cracking contest is expected. Previously playing under the names Shepshed Albion and Shepshed Charterhouse, Shepshed had a rather fractured end to the last century renaming again in 1994 a year before we reformed following our brief stay at Step Seven. This is to be only the second meeting of our two sides. The first being last September when we had to make the trip up the M1 in midweek.That encounter resulted in a 3-1 victory for out hosts who scored twice late in the first half. Our skipper Rob Parker put us back in the game with a second half penalty but a third goal for our hosts secured all three points.Since then, until Boxing Day, Shepshed’s only away league win came at Bourne, so they have had to rely on home results to keep them safely in mid-table. Their best home performance came early in the season when they defeated Racing Club Warwick by five goals to nil.

Our visitors had a great start to the season in FA Cup competition. They first travelled to AFC Wulfrunians (who subsequently changed their name to AFC Wolverhampton City), by three goals to two, before beating Clay Cross and Bourne Town at home – the latter in a replay after a 0-0 draw at Bourne – but in their fifth match in the competition they were beaten 2-0 at home by Stamford. However, they had a much briefer run in the FA Trophy beaten 4-0 at home by Anstey Nomads in their first match.

CLUB WELFARE OFFICER GEMMA KEECH My name is Gemma Keech and I am the Club Welfare Officer (CWO) for St Neots Town Football Club.

Each football club that offers youth and open aged football is required to have a Club Welfare Officer. I am responsible for ensuring the wellbeing of the children, young people and vulnerable adults who attend the club, whether that be within the Academy or players aged Under 18 in the First Team.

My role is to be the first point of contact for all club members and parents / carers regarding concerns for the welfare of anyone within the club that fall within this group.

St Neots Town Football Club have appointed me to this voluntary role because of my employment roles in Education and Children’s Social Care, and therefore my knowledge and experience in Safeguarding and Child Protection.

My aim to be an approachable person for young people and their parents or carers, as well as club members, where issues or concerns may arise. These issues may range from worries about not fitting in or feeling left out, an individual dangerous incident or situation, other adult or young persons’ behaviour or more serious allegations against another person, volunteer, member or professional at the Club.

St Neots Town recorded their first Boxing Day win since defeating Cambridge City back in 2022, beating bottom of the table Bedworth United by a single goal in front of a bumper crowd of 510 at the Premier Plus Stadium. The visitors arrived after having won four of their last six matches so their lowly position in the league standings shouldn’t be taken likely. Manager Cameron Mawer stuck with the same starting eleven that had secured a magnificent win at Belper Town in their previous outing and new signing Claudio Dias had to settle for a place on the bench and Stacey Freeman (Unavailable) and Michael Amaeshike Injured remained the only other notable absentees.

The game started at a frantic pace and the opening goal almost came inside the first two minutes when a long throw from Burgess was headed onto his own post by a visiting defender and cleared to safety. The visitors could themselves have taken the lead in the eleventh minute when Boothe forced Goff into a smart save, acrobatically tipping his header over the bar for a corner which, thankfully, came to nothing. In the thirty-fourth minutes, Reece Thorpe almost caught the visiting keeper out with a clever near post cross from the left and just as it appeared that the ball was going to sneak in, the keeper readjusted his feet and managed to divert the goal-bound effort around the post for a corner and then in the fifth minute of time added on (due to a lengthy stoppage for Sammy Willis to receive treatment after an aerial challenge) Neo Richard-Noel shot over the bar when well placed and that was the end of the first half’s action.

The second half began with no changes in personnel for either side and the next noteable chance was in the sixty-first minute when a tiring Neo RichardNoel struck the cross bar but the Assistant Referee had his flag raised for offside. This was to be his last involvement of the game as substitute James Stainsby was introduced into the action in the sixty-fifth minute.

The all important winning goal was to arrive after seventy-one minutes and it was a set piece executed perfectly. Lewis Burgess propelled one of his trademark long throws into the opposition penalty area and Harvey Henderson flicked the ball on for the in-rushing SAMMY WILLIS to power home an unstoppable header of his own to give his team a deserved lead, much to the delight of the home support.

MATCH REPORT Bedworth United (H) 26 December 2025 In the seventy-sixth minute the visitors thought they had won themselves a penalty however the referee proceeded to show Barry a yellow card for assimilation much to the amusement of the home support in that corner of the ground. The lively Kieran Barnes was unlucky not to extend the lead nine minutes from time when a sweetly struck free kick from outside the the right hand corner of the penalty box forced Highland into an impressive save, diverting the ball from it’s trajectory into the top right hand corner and away for a corner and the Saints came even closer in the first minute of stoppage time when substitute MJ Muyembe somehow managed to escape his marker and got his shot away from a tight angle but it hit the foot of the post and was cleared to safety.

So, a hard fought, well deserved victory for the Saints. Seven points out of nine from their three holiday matches (two of which were away from home) represented an excellent haul over the Christmas/New Year period and leaves St Neots in good heart for their upcoming busy January period with six further league and cup matches, four of which are at home.

Hosts Wellingborough were brimming with confidence after five consecutive victories, but the visitors were showing some real grit and determination as they came from behind to earn a deserved point. Having defeated the Doughboys at St Neots back in September, Cameron Mawer’s side were looking for their first league double of the season, but they found their hosts in confident mood. Ironically St Neots key man was former Wellingborough striker Neo Richard-Noel who had scored against the Saints on their last visit to the ground in November 2023. His second half strike earned a share of the points against his former club. St Neots made just one team change for the trip to Northamptonshire bringing in recent signing Stacey Freeman at the heart of their defence in a reshuffled line-up that saw Kieran Barnes start on the substitutes bench.

The first quarter of an hour was evenly fought with both defences looking comfortably in control, but the breakthrough came when the home side won a corner, and when under-pressure St Neots goalkeeper James Goff failed to get any distance on his punch clear the ball fell to Will Jones who netted from close range. St Neots hit back quickly and a Harvey Williams shot was comfortably gathered by the home keeper. Wellingborough then had a spell of possession with Connor Tomlinson blazing over the bar, Jones seeing a second close range effort well saved by Goff and Lloyd Buckby volleying over the bar after neat play by Danny Draper. Lewis Burgess then joined the St Neots attack to test home keeper Dean Snedker, and Williams cut in to see his effort blocked by a defender. Goff made up for his earlier error producing a full length save to deny Tomlinson and then the home side were forced to make the first change just before the break when their scorer Jones went off injured.

Shortly after the restart St Neots adopted a more positive approach taking off full back Eniola Agemoh-Davies and sending on Kieran Barnes as an addition midfield attacking player. That seemed to pay dividends with St Neots on the offensive, and they began to test the home defence.

MATCH REPORT Wellingborough Town (A) 01 January 2026 After 26 minutes of the second half the scores were levelled as Neo RichardNoel latched on to a lengthy Goff clearance to outwit his marker to level the scores against his former club. The home side responded by introducing an additional midfield attacking player, but the visiting defence held firm and then a late foul tackle bringing down Williams as he bore down on goal preserved Wellingborough’s point earning the perpetrator a deserved caution.

St Neots deserved their point and cemented their position eight points and six places above the bottom of the table.

St Neots remain the draw specialists in the Premier Division – the tenth time they have finished all square this season, but they had to come from behind twice to salvage their point. In six Southern League meetings they have still failed to beat bogey opponents Stratford. In the end after a frustrating second half when they failed to find a way through a stubborn visiting defence, their perseverance paid off with an 85th minute second goal to reward their efforts. Manager Matt Clements had to juggle his team just before the start when Lewis Irwin cried off ill, but he restored leading scorer Dylan Williams to the side after two substitute appearances and welcomed back Taylor Parr from suspension with Tom Wood switching to full back in place of Jack Bradshaw who was on the bench. Perhaps a draw was predictable with Stratford now finishing level in each of their three visits to the Premier Plus Stadium.

It was the visitors who made the brighter start to the match. Justin Marsden stung the hands of keeper Mike Emery with a snap volley as the sides sparred and it was Stratford who forged ahead after 15 minutes when the lively William Grocott linked cleverly with Ben Stephens to set up Edwin Ahenkorah for a close-range finish. That was the strikers’ fourth goal in as many games with St Neots.The home side hit back quickly, Dylan Williams having one shot saved and a second blocked but after 27 minutes Stefan Broccoli beat his marker on the bye line to feed Kyron Wiltshire and his deft backheel set up Williams for his eleventh league goal of the season to level the scores. However, St Neots were only on terms for six minutes and then another example of charity defending gifted the visitors with their second goal. Liam McDevitt appeared to be shepherding the ball back toward Mike Emery, but Ben Stephens nipped in to steal the ball and roll it into the unguarded net. The unlucky Nabil Shariff was then denied a goal when he climbed to win a Johnny Herd free kick but saw his header rebound from the cross bar.

The second half was always going to be difficult as the visitors opted to sit on their slender lead rather than chasing further goals. Stefan Broccoli shot wide after a neat build up but in a breakaway attack Eli Bako should have done better for the visitors than volley over the bar when he was left unmarked. However, much of the attacking play was going to be around the Stratford box as Dion Sembie-Ferris cut in to see his shot deflected and Tom Wood linked with his attack but saw Connor make a good save at the second attempt.

BLAST FROM THE PAST 10th Jan 2018 - Stratford Town (H) The pressure continued with substitute Scott Sinclair heading wide and then the hardworking Nabil Shariff had a rising shot parried by the overworked visiting keeper. Of course, when a team becomes too committed to attacking, they are liable to be caught on the break and ten minutes from time Grocott broke free to get the ball in the St Neots net, but he was thwarted by an offside flag. Luke Knight then shot wide and Williams had an effort cleared off the line as St Neots redoubled their efforts and they were eventually rewarded five minutes from time when Wood knocked down a cross and Shariff pounced to force the ball home from close range for his second St Neots goal. There was still time for Sinclair to see a well-placed shot deflected wide and deep into added time substitute David Bridges saw his effort touched onto the cross bar by Connor.

The 5 questions that are asked each week are designed not only to encourage men to talk, but to start to focus on the positives and on strategies to keep moving forward. There is no pressure to answer any of the questions and it is not uncommon for men to just listen for the first few sessions. The clubs all run on the same format and adhere to the same guidelines. A key principle of ANDYSMANCLUB is anything that is said in the club, stayswithinthe club.

Seasons Past - With John Walker This Edition Focuses on Season 1977/78

ST NEOTS TOWN FC 1977/78 SEASON This is the fourteenth record in a series, highlighting one of our final seasons at Shortsands to depict both the highs and the lows in the recent proud history of the Club. This was our fifth season back in the UCL since our spell in the Eastern Counties League and it followed the previous season that had been our best league finish in nine seasons – also in the UCL. Stamford won their second league title in three seasons beating us home and away, but the most impressive statistic of the season came from full back Gary How who played in all 55 league and cup fixtures but not scoring – his only St Neots’ goal came the following season in the away league match at Bourne Town.

Our league form was very patchy especially at home where we won just eight of our nineteen league matches the highlight of which was a 5-0 victory over Kempston Rovers.

We also scored five goals in an away match at Long Buckby and four more at bottom club Holbeach.

We retained the Senior Cup but lost to Arlesey in the Hinchingbrooke Cup Final.

Our Reserve side finished fourth in Division Two of the UCL but lost at Hemingford in the Hunts Benevolent Cup quarter-final.

Our top goal scorer was Steve Clark with 13 goals followed by Carmino Picillo 12 but special mention for Terry Minett who topped the Reserves scoring chart with 16 as well as scoring 10 for the senior team.

The Manager was Jack Blyth and his Assistant John Benson in the second of their third season’s joint reign.

Opponent Spotlight SHEPSHED DYNAMO

Shepshed, in NW Leicestershire, has had football teams associated with it since 1879. Whilst many of these achieved local recognition over the years, it was with the formation of the Charterhouse club in the mid-1970's, that the name of Shepshed became known nationally. Between 1978 and 1984, the club rose from the lower reaches of the Leicestershire Senior League to the summit of the Southern League Premier Division, winning seven consecutive promotions (including six successive championship titles) on the way. They also reached both the semi-final and quarterfinal of the FA Vase, as well as the First Round Proper of the FA Cup. Unfortunately, the club, then known by its original name of Shepshed Albion, closed down in 1994.

1994 TO 2004 The current Dynamo club was formed in the summer of 1994. Initially playing in the newly formed Midland Alliance, the club enjoyed a successful first season, finishing 4th. The following season, under Manager Mark O'Kane, the club won the title by eight points including a remarkable 23 game unbeaten start. After a hectic summer of improvement works, the club took up their place in the Southern Football League for the 1996/97 campaign. Whilst league success proved harder to come by, the club more than made up for this in the FA Cup by reaching the First Round Proper.

Despite a heavy away defeat at the hands of Carlisle United, the memory of the day will live long with all that were there. The second season proved less successful, and with the team struggling near to the bottom of the league, O'Kane was replaced in February 1998, by John Hanna. The change brought a creditable 16th place by the end. 1998/99 saw the best league season to date. Shepshed were in the top six of the league for most of the season, but slipped to a final placing of 10th, after a poor runin. 1999/2000, the Centenary year for the club's ground "The Dovecote", saw a season-long battle against relegation, a final placing of 18th and the resignation of Hanna in July 2000. His assistant, Dave Williams, was appointed.

His first season in charge saw a 15th place finish. The next two saw the financial purse strings tightened, however whilst Shepshed flirted with relegation, a 16th place position was recorded in both.

The summer of 2003 saw a change in the constitution of the football club that led to it becoming a private limited company. However, in footballing terms, the season can be fairly described as disastrous, as it saw two changes in management after Williams was sacked in October and his successor Dave Clay resigned in January.

Pete McGurk then took charge of first team matters but despite improved results, he had insufficient time to prevent Shepshed from finishing bottom of the Southern League Western Division.

However, restructuring in the summer of 2004 reprieved Dynamo and saw them start their 10th anniversary season as members of the UniBond League. McGurk led the team to a respectable 15th place finish in a season that also saw them win the Loughborough Charity Cup and Coalville Charity Cup double.

2005 TO DATE Season 2005/06 culminated in a fine 10th place finish and saw the club receive the UniBond League Club Of The Month Award, Fair Play Award and Goalscorers Award for April 2006. Dynamo also reached the finals of both the Loughborough and Coalville Charity Cups. McGurk resigned in December 2006, with the club in 15th place, replaced by his assistant Adam Stevens. He resigned in April 2007 after a 1-6 defeat at second-bottom Chorley left Dynamo in 20th place (5th bottom).

Former Belper Town manager Martin Rowe was appointed in May 2007, however his reign was to last only until November, after a dismal start to the season. Ex Sutton Town and Gedling Town manager Lee Wilson was Rowe's replacement. Fortunes soon turned around and Dynamo ultimately finished in 15th position. The 2007/08 season finished with silverware after Shepshed lifted the Loughborough Charity Cup with a 3-1 victory over near-neighbours Loughborough Dynamo.

The 2008/09 season saw fortunes dramatically change for the better, with Shepshed ending the season in 8th place, their highest league table position for 13 years, however Wilson resigned immediately after the end of the season. Dave Stringer and Jimmy Ginnelly were announced to lead Shepshed into the 2009/10 season, but following a difficult season, Dave parted company with Shepshed.

Barry Baker and Bob Norris were appointed for 2010/11. As the season started Baker was hit by a serious illness, and forced to resign. Dynamo appointed Dave Frecklington but this again failed to last and he was relieved of his duties after a string of poor results that saw Shepshed finish in 21st position leading to relegation.

However Shepshed were reprieved following financial problems at Rushden & Diamonds. John Ramshaw was appointed the new manager as Evo-Stik Division One South football was awarded to Shepshed for the 2011/2 season. In October Eastwood Town persuaded Ramshaw to take over their hot seat. His assistant Chris (Chalky) White was given the post in November 2011.

In 2012, with new Chairman Mick Sloan, Shepshed Dynamo competed in the United Counties League, where after a mixed start ended the season on a high finishing in 9th position and beating local rivals Quorn FC 5-0 to lift the Loughborough Charity Cup. In 2013-14 Shepshed were yet again moved sideways to compete in the Midland Football Alliance and after a season of mixed results finished in16th place. Jim Wynne and Matt Houldsworth began the campaign with a mix of old and new players signed. In November they were replaced by the successful championship winning Jeff Stocking from Oadby, strengthening the squad but finished the season in 15th place. For the 2014-15 season Jeff was joined by former Loughborough and Quorn manager John Folwell and they recruited a squad of talented young players who enjoyed an unbeaten pre[1]season. Due to business requirements Jeff stood down with John being joined by Jimmy Gray. Before the completion of that season however John also had to resign due to promotion at work. Jimmy Gray saw out the season, helped by Andy Hohn, and the side finished fourth.

The management team for the 2016/17 season assembled the bulk of last season’s successful side and a mix of experienced players with a group of promising youngsters. Although staying in the higher end of the league for most of the season, including reaching the last 32 in the FA Vase and winning the Loughborough Charity Cup, the club finished fifteenth.

For the 2017-18 campaign again a mix of last season’s players plus experienced additions were to represent the club with hopes of a much higher finish in the league table. A competitive season ended with a 7th position but also the loss of manager Gray. This saw ex-Gresley manager Damion Beckford-Quailey take charge and a squad comprising some of last term’s players joined by new faces and several ex-Shepshed favourites returning to the Dovecote.

The FA allocation to leagues for season 2019-20 saw the club again moved to the United Counties for a second time. Damion remained as manager, assisted by Wayne Scott and Dave Clay. Several new faces were included in the squad.

Season 2019-20 saw the club in a very strong position for promotion before the Covid pandemic caused the season to be null and void. With a late start, 2020-21 was a busy one with the club retaining most of the squad and being joined by three additions and increased coaching staff. Despite this, during the FA restructuring, we were finally promoted back to step 4 via the PPG system after over 10 years at step 5.

In the first season back at Step 4 in 2021, Dynamo Manager Damion Beckford Quailey, assisted by Gary Drake, managed an impressive 11th placed finished, gaining points of each of the top eight teams in the league. In the following season they finished with an almost identical record as the season before.

The 2023-24 season sees Manager Damion Beckford-Quailey along with assistant Gary Drake remain at the club with additions to the technical area as Matt Melbourne makes the transition from player to coach, alongside Nick Fairbrother in also joining the coaching staff. Several new replacement players have arrived to fill the vacant areas in the squad following several players moving to higher level, and long-standing captain Jake Betts announcing his retirement.

The end of the 23-24 season saw the end of an era, after seven years in charge, Damion Beckford-Quailey stood down after a 14th placed finish. Following the resignation of Lougborough Dynamo from step 4, their Management team of Tom Hayes and a returning John Ramshaw were promptly appointed along with the addition of a whole host of new players. However, after a poor start to the season, Tom Hayes left by Mutual Consent and after an interim period lead by John Ramshaw, The club hired former Assistant Manager Gary Drake as First Team Manager, who guided Dynamo out of the relegation zone to finish 14th in the 24/25 NPL Midlands Division. Gary Drake now enters his first full season as a Manager, with hope and ambition to continue building on the culture created last season. He has recruited a host of new faces both on the field and in the dugout as he is joined by former Dynamo player Dale Belford as Assistant Manager.

GARY DRAKE (Manager) – In his first full season as Manager after rejoining in October 2024. Previously spent three years as our Assistant Manager, also coaching experience with New York Red Bulls, Nottingham Forest, Leicester City and Doncaster Rovers DALE BELFORD (Assistant Manager) – Enjoyed a vastly experienced playing career spanning nearly 30 years, including a spell at Dynamo in 2007. Managerial experience with Tamworth, Rugby Town, Hinckley AFC. Joins Dynamo after four years as Assistant Manager at Stafford Rangers KELVIN DUDLEY (GK Coach) – Dynamo’s longest serving staff member, in his seventh season as Goalkeeper Coach, formerly with Carlton Town MIKEY TURNER (GK Coach) – Currently completing his UEFA B licence, he joins from Coalville Town after coaching with both their first team and youth teams ETHAN JOLLEY (Analyst) – Young coach in his second season with Dynamo, helps with Sports Science analysis NIGEL STIRK (Physio) – In his second season with Dynamo, A firefighter by day, He has massively helped our Squad since coming in.
