Hello to everyone from Bedworth United for tonight’s fixture. I hope you have a safe journey home. This is the third time our clubs have met this season and luckily we have come out winners on the previous two occasions, that’s not to say this evenings match is a forgone conclusion because its certainly not. Bedworth have had many decent results of late and from our scouting team really should have got something out of last Saturdays match against Dunstable Town. Of course this is like all of our forthcoming matches up until the Christmas period are seriously important to us and by looking at the current league positions if we can gain a win tonight we will hopefully move up a few more places. Our last two matches were of course cup matches and I had already stated that the Cambridge City red insure cup match was one we just wanted players who have come back from injury to get playing time, or course a win would
have been very nice as well but I have been informed that we play midweek right into late January just to catch up on our fixtures so more games in that competition might just not be good for us. Last Saturday was a very big disappointment as it was a competition we wanted to progress in. we know all about Hungerford and I have said before they are one of the best organised teams in our league, we also knew it would be a very tight match to start with however no matter how you plan your game you cannot allow for the kind of errors that gave them their two goals and Toms’ mistake eventually cost us. These things happen and Tom was the first to put his hand up and say big mistake. These things happen in football but we would like them to go for us and not against us. I’m not making any excuses but we did have both Drew and Clarke both not match fit but decided to go with them and see and really who wouldn’t make a decision like that with those two players. Ryan had to go as substitute because he was carrying an injury and we
played with six natural centre halves, something we took on because of the experience needed to compete with an organised team like Hungerford. Unfortunately it didn’t work out and that’s it we cant go back and who know what would have happened if we did not surrender those two very sloppy goals. We have also just lost Jack Wilkinson and Ryan Frater last week putting more pressure on the squad. We had an agreement with a very good forward to join us but missed out on the transfer fee and player terms. We have targets for a full back but until clubs are out of cup competitions we have little chance of signing the quality we require. All trials and tribulations of course for any football club and as they say that’s football. We move on and try to get into a play off position by the Christmas period of which is a target I feel we can achieve starting tonight and then a big away match at Poole Town where we go with confidence because we played at their place twice last season and did not lose either match. On the evidence of this match that malaise continues because goal-scoring opportunities were at a premium as St Neots slid to their fourth defeat in five games.
Five minutes before the break Raunds scored with a goal that can only be placed at the door of poor defending.
Raunds were a hard working side but owed much to goalkeeper Michael Freeman who dominated his area thriving on collecting the high crosses pumped into the box and the real knock out blow for the home side was applied by the appropriately named Mohammed Ali who claimed the goal that separated the two sides at the break. St Neots welcomed back Matt Endersby for the first time since the end of September and made two significant team change leaving Damian Matthews on the bench and switching Scott Grant to the heart of the defence and preferring Steve Young in goal. The opening exchanges saw Raunds probing at the St Neots back line and Young was soon in action producing an excellent significant reflex save to
Mohammed Ali had been impressive throughout and when the defence dallied in attempting to clear a cross from Ryan Nash Ali poked the ball in from close range with defenders looking accusingly at each other. St Neots rhythm was totally upset four minutes after the break when Russell Lawes sustained a thigh injury and had to be helped from the field. St Neots introduced Mark Phillips as the substitute after an injury absence of two months and this necessitated a reshuffle that saw player/manager Steve Kuhne back in midfield. The side looked unbalanced with no shape on the left side and Raunds continued to create chances with Young saving well from Simon McCarthy at a set piece.

Richard Tanner could have clinched the result when he beat the offside trap but he fired into the side netting and St Neots did not buck up until eighteen minutes from time when recent signing Andre Multay made his fourth consecutive appearance as a substitute for the disappointing Mark Franklin. The newcomer looked sharp and varied the approach of hopeful high balls into the area but he had little time to make a real impact and a minute from time Richard Tanner robbed Peter Gatti on the edge of the area and sent a low shot beyond Young to confirm a result that had always looked likely.

St Neots dismal cup record continued as they were knocked out of the Trophy by a visiting Hungerford side who did just enough to earn their place in the next round. That was St Neots’ second cup exit in less than a week and they must now wait until next season for cup glory. The first half was at best uninspiring although the conditions made good football very difficult. A gusty wind, incessant rain and a slippery surface restricted the entertainment on offer and St Neots seldom threatened apart from one brief spell at the start of the second half. In their line up St Neots welcomed back Tom Ward in a reshuffled defence although having given away the winning goal it will not be the way he will want to remember his fiftieth appearance for St Neots. Also back in the line-up was Isaac Galliford who replaced the still only partly fit Ryan Hawkins who made a second half substitute appearance and Andy Wilton returned in goal for Ollie Sutton. Drew Roberts was also making his fiftieth appearance but he is still clearly lacking match fitness after his long break from match action. Hungerford made the better start having chosen to go with the wind in their favour but Scott Rees headed wide, James Clark had a shot blocked and the lively Nat Jarvis brought a good save from Andy Wilton. St Neots struggled to make an attacking impression with too many final passes going astray
after promising build ups although Galliford shot over and Lee Clarke had a looping header comfortably saved by Paul Strudley. Nat Jarvis was proving a lively threat to the home defence and he headed wide when well placed before bringing an excellent parry by Wilton to a rising shot. Right on half time after two set piece attacks by St Neots Matt Mitchel-King should have done better with a close range diving header that passed the wrong side of a post.
St Neots made the better start after the interval. In the first minute from a Drew Roberts corner Tom Meechan had a shot from six yards acrobatically blocked by Strudley and then a Meechan cross was deflected for a corner with the visiting defence in disarray. It was therefore against the run of play when in their first second half foray into St Neots territory, the visitors took a surprise lead. St Neots tamely lost possession in midfield leaving their defence unprepared and Garyn Preen advanced on goal to shoot across the goalkeeper despite the fact that the diving Wilton got a hand to the ball. St Neots responded well enough with a free kick from substitute Ryan Hawkins headed
wide by Mitchel-King and their little period of pressure paid off when an Isaac Galliford corner was headed firmly past his own goalkeeper by defender Jon Boardman. A dipping shot by Jamie Anton was just too high and St Neots looked to be in control but an unforced error gave Hungerford a second goal and the confidence to reassume control themselves.
It was after 77 minutes that the usually reliable Tom Ward cut out an attack but instead of playing the ball forward he tried to cushion a header to a fellow defender allowing Stefan Brown to accelerate into the gap and past Shane Blackett to beat the advancing Wilton with a low shot. St Neots needed a quick response but despite moving to a three man defence and pushing an extra forward on they rarely extended Strudley in the visiting goal and had Blackett to thank when he got back to clear a shot from substitute Alan O’Brien off the goal line. In the final minute Hawkins sent a stinging shot into the arms of Strudley but St Neots must now concentrate their undivided efforts on improving their league position. John Walker

Welcome to our friends from Bedworth United their officials, players and supporters for this evenings match. A second welcome in three weeks where we played each other here in the FA Trophy. Unfortunately our run in the competition lasted only to the next round where we lost last Saturday to a very well organised Hungerford Town. Out of all cups except the Hunts Senior Cup of which because of injuries yet again last season we had to withdraw at the semi final stage. This season I’m sure we will put out seven players if needed, as we want to win the trophy yet again. Talking about Hungerford and as most people know we had a major road incident/ accident on our way down to Hungerford earlier in the season. Not our fault of course as there was a massive accident and we were stuck for over an hour and a half in static traffic on the motorway. Well we were charged by the Southern League for being fifty minutes late for match and we THE MACK IS the BACK! admitted the charge (what else could
we do) but also sent in evidence from our coach company and more important from the “Highways Agency” confirming the reason for our lateness. Last week we received from the league a fine of £125 for the offence as they said they did not “Accept” our evidence, what planet are these people on and why have they not accepted the evidence submitted, there was a road accident and we were stuck in traffic what did they not understand. Only a couple of weeks after that on our way to Worthing for our FA Cup replay our coach had a puncture of which the game had to be postponed. The FA accepted this and we of course were not fined for the incident. Now I ask where is the difference in all this the governing body of English football make the correct decision and the Southern league come to their own conclusions. I have my views on this and they fall very much in line with Jose Morhinio and his views on the way Chelsea are treated in some ways. I have often been told by many club
managers that St Neots Town are not every clubs cup of tea, why I really don’t know but maybe it is because we have the very best of everything and are one of the most professional clubs in Non league football and certain people just don’t like that. I could be more pacific but wont. I could go into this more and give more recent incidents of our club
being “Picked on” by the Southern league but of course I would be called up before the “Beak” and we would get yet another fine. The best way for us to deal with this is to get out of the Southern league ASAP either by promotion or sideways into the Ryman league just as soon as we can. On this occasion I’m not disappointed I am seriously upset. On to tonight’s match and at least we are playing against a team that have real genuine people that I can call real football friends. A TRIBUTE TO JIMMY GREAVES He really was the greatest goal scorer of them all One of the most naturally gifted and prolific strikers of any era, Jimmy Greaves was born to score goals and in an iconic career that spanned three glorious decades, that is exactly what he did with an unerring regularity for club and country. Greaves was simply sensational in front of goal and from the moment he marked his debut for Chelsea as a 17-year-old in 1957 with a goal, it was obvious he was destined for great things. He spent four seasons at Stamford Bridge and scored an incredible 124 times in just 157 appearances. It was, however, in the famous white of Tottenham Hotspur that he was to truly establish himself as one of the game’s greats. Signed by Bill Nicholson in 1961 after a brief and unhappy sojourn in Italy with AC Milan, Greaves found his spiritual home at White Hart Lane and his arrival in north London was the
beginning of a nine-year love affair between the player and the club. The striker lit up the old First Division with Spurs, finishing the league’s top scorer in four separate seasons and his goals helped the club to lift the FA Cup in 1962 and 1967. In 1963, he was part of the Tottenham team who became the first British side to lift a European trophy after they famously beat Atletico Madrid 5-1 in the final of the Cup Winners’ Cup.
He is third on the all-time England goal scorers list behind Wayne Rooney, Bobby Charlton and Gary Lineker but his goals per game ratio remains superior to all of them. Injury robbed him of the chance to play in the 1966 World Cup final but his impact on the international stage was undimmed by the cruel twist of fate and he will forever be remembered as one of England’s greatest ever strikers.
He left Spurs aged 30 in 1970 having rewritten the club’s record books. In total, he scored a breathtaking 266 goals in 379 games for the Lilywhites and is still widely regarded as the greatest striker in Tottenham’s illustrious history. Greaves was even more prolific in the white of England. He marked his international debut against Peru in 1959 with a goal and over the next eight years he played times for his country and scored 44 times.

JOSH BEECH
Josh joined the club in September 2015 having played in the Southern league premier division for Cambridge City and Biggleswade Town. Having been cup tied Josh has had to wait for his chance to have a decent run in the team. Starting his first full match in the away game at Paulton he was man of the match and scored on his full debut for the club. Josh is a very strong centre midfield player who is also very powerful when moving forward.

BEDWORTH UNITED Back at the Premier Plus Stadium just two weeks after their FA Trophy visit the Greenbacks are still struggling in the relegation zone. A very special welcome for our next engagement in the EvoStik Southern League Premier Division with Bedworth United.
Since then Bedworth has completed major improvement work at The Oval constructing new changing facilities and becoming one of the first Southern League clubs to install a 3G pitch.
Our two sides met very recently in the FA Vase here at St Neots but also way back on 18th August in a Southern League match on the smart 3G facility at The Oval where our lads looked perfectly ‘at home’ on the artificial surface running out handsome 6-0 victors.
CLUB HISTORY The first Bedworth Town football club is believed to have been formed in 1895 when several matches were played against other local teams. They became founder members of the Nuneaton and District League in 1898, but by 1900 the club had disbanded. Another team, Bedworth Evening Combination School became forerunners of the second Bedworth Town club five years later in 1905 finishing runners up in the Second Division of the Coventry and North Warwickshire League in 1904/5 season.
Two goals for Tom Meechan and one apiece for Connor Hall, Tom Ward, Peter Clark and Guiy Mailancol (the latter two Southern League debut goals) saw us lift ourselves into the play off zone for the only time so far in what has been an increasingly difficult season. However Bedworth have too had their problems spending much of August and September at the foot of the table before a home victory over Kings Lynn gave them only their second win of the current campaign. However they have recently defeated near neighbours Leamington in a first round Birmingham Senior Cup tie where goals from Daniel Creaney and Harry Walker-Donovan gave them a morale boosting 2-1 victory and a place in the second round. They also progressed to the second round of the Red Insure Cup with a victory over Evesham United where they once again had to travel to Leamington (result of that encounter not known at the time these notes were penned). Bedworth’s other previous visit to St Neots was on 12th January 2013 when our lads recorded a closely fought 3-2 victory with Lewis Hilliard (2) and Ben Mackey on the scoresheet for us.
The ECS changed their name to Bedworth Town on winning promotion and stayed in existence until the early 1920’s. A third club came on the scene in 1925, when Collycroft United, formed in 1916 became the third team to name themselves Bedworth Town. This was the most successful of the pre-war clubs, they were members of the Coventry and North Warwickshire League and spent one season in 1936/7 in the Central Amateur League. They played as Bedworth Central for the 1938/39 seasons but unfortunately folded in 1940. The last club to become Bedworth Town was formed in 1947 and as a semi-pro club secured membership of the Birmingham Combination league winning the Championship in successive seasons 1948/49 and the 1949/50 seasons. In 1951/52 they had their best FA Cup ever. After defeating Nuneaton the 3rd Qualifying round they lost to Kettering when a victory

would have given them an away tie at Bristol Rovers. A lack of success and problems off the field saw Bedworth TOWN change their name to Bedworth UNITED in 1968. In 1972 they obtained membership of the Southern League Division One North floodlights having been erected at The Oval in 1970/1. The club made rapid strides into the Premier Division when the league was reformed in 1982 and they finished 5th in 1982 and were stable in that division until a poor run saw them relegated at the end of the 1988/9 season. Since becoming Bedworth United the Club has won the Birmingham Senior Cup on three occasions and were runners-up when they lost to WBA in the 1987/8 season. However club decline occurred and Bedworth United were relegated to the Midland Division. A new lease is shortly to be signed with the erection of new floodlights, work on the pitch and modification and building of more facilities for player and spectator to follow. Bedworth has established a wellrespected Youth and Junior set up offering a wide variety of age group football for the Bedworth area. An important milestone was winning the play offs in the Central Division in 2011/12 to earn promotion to the EvoStik Southern Premier Division. That season Bedworth finished bottom but one and were relegated but placed in the Northern League pyramid but one season later they were back in the Southern League winning a playoff place in the Central League and going on to beat Aylesbury (away) and Barton Rovers (home) to win back their Premier Division berth.
ANDREW WESTWOOD: (Midfield) Andrew joined Bedworth in January 2014 from Chasetown, where he struggled to break through to their 1st team. The 22 year old Wolverhampton based player was players’ player of the year in midfield last year for Bedworth. He has gained valuable experience in playing in such a pressurised environment of a promotion winning team. Andy is a very popular member of the squad and always displays a great attitude.
DENHAM HINDS Denham is a maturing 22 year old goal keeper who has played at Oadby Town, Kettering Town and Hinckley United. The Hinckley based keeper was outstanding in goal for Bedworth last season being the only member of the playing staff to play every minute of every game. CHRIS TULLIN Chris is a local stalwart that has served Bedworth excellently over many years making over 500 appearances for the Greenbacks. He captained the club gaining promotion and his experience was invaluable last year in helping youngsters with his experience. PETER FOLKES The 30 year old defender was signed from Romulus during pre season. The Birmingham based players’ past clubs have included Bradford City, Bristol City, Lincoln City, Tamworth and Halesowen Town. MARK ALBRIGHTON The 39 year old joined the football club from Barwell FC in November 2013. The vastly experienced local veteran had several seasons professionally with Doncaster Rovers and loan periods with Chester City, Darlington and Cambridge City. AARON BAINES Aaron was signed during preseason from Redditch United, where he is based. The young 20 year old player shows lots of raw ability. He is looking forward to developing his potential further under the coaching staff at the club. LUKE ROWE Luke is a local lad and he grew in stature last season under the guidance of the coaching team. The 23 year old left sided player forced his way into the team and kept his place with some good performances. He has played in New Zealand for Wellington the past 2 seasons. MARLON WALTERS Marlon started his career at Wolverhampton Wanderers before playing for several
other clubs including Redditch United, Hednesford Town Chasetown FC. The 29 year old Birmingham based midfielder was signed from Hinckley after the Leicestershire club folded. BEN STEANE Ben is a vastly experienced player at this level. The 33 year old midfielder has enjoyed spells at Rugby Town, Chasetown, Brackley Town and Halesowen Town. ALEX NAUGHTON Alex is a local 25 year old striker. He started his career off as a youngster at Coventry City FC. Alex went on to have several successful seasons playing for Nuneaton Griff, where as a forward he has had a prolific goal scoring record. DANIEL CREANEY Daniel is a local lad who had a successful season with Atherstone Town. The 20 year old signed for Bedworth last pre season. He really enjoys creating and can play midfield or forward, with a lot of natural ability. DAVID BLENKINSOPP David is a Coventry based forward, he started his career with Coventry City before joining Nuneaton Town. The 27 year old had a very successful spell at Gresley Rovers before joining Bedworth nearly 2 years ago. David was unfortunate last season picking up several injuries. LEWIS CHESTER Lewis is a new recruit this year; he has been playing his football in the local leagues around Coventry. The 20 year old has impressed during preseason and the former Birmingham City trainee is looking to try and substantiate himself in the squad this season RYAN NASH Ryan has signed from Coleshill Town during preseason; The 23 year old has a very good attitude and is an extremely fit player, playing in several positions, mainly on the right side. NATHAN MCGARRITY Nathan is a 19 year old striker that played for
Leicester Road Stadium Club last season. His former clubs include Tamworth and Hinckley. Nathan netted nearly 30 goals last season and wants to play his football at step 3 and try to make a break through with the first team this season KELVIN MATHE Kelvin is a 20 year old forward that joined the club in February last season. Kelvin is from Leeds and played youth team football at Guisley FC before then moving on to Osset Town. Kelvin shows good skills and pace and with further development could feature more this season. HARRY DONOVAN Harry made several substitute appearances in the promotion season last year. This 19 year old midfield player is showing good signs of progression and his attitude to learn is refreshing. His targets this season is to break through and start first team matches. TRAVORNE THOMPSON Travorne is another young forward player. The 18 year old signed on the opening day of the season after being released from Wolverhampton Wanderers. His previous club was Aston Villa where he was a trainee. KRISTAIN DICKSON RAMSEY Kristain wants to have a successful season and play as many games as possible to help his fitness. NATHAN HAINES Nathan signed from Rugby Town in November. The 25 year old left sided defender is in his second spell with the club; both spells seeing him gain promotion to the Southern Premier League. KYLE CARTWRIGHT The 25 year old defender signed from Daventry in November and soon made the centre half position his own. The tough tackling defender had played for Hinckley previously and his commitment and attitude are exemplary.

A brief round up of the recent results from the teams that matter Weekend Action 14th November 2015
Premier Division Poole Town returned to the top of the table when, after taking a seventeenth minute lead, they recorded a 2-1 home win after Cambridge City had levelled just after the hour mark. Dunstable Town, who took the lead shortly after the hour, conceded an equaliser with ten minutes remaining but secured a 2-1 victory at second from bottom Bedworth United when they struck just two minutes later.
Division One Central St Ives Town raced into a two goal lead in the opening seven minutes and, although conceding a goal four minutes after the break, held on to top spot with a 2-1 home win over bottom of the table North Greenford United while second placed Chalfont St Peter struck seven minutes into the second half to win 1-0 at second from bottom Leighton Town and Kings Langley scored twice in the first twenty-first minutes to secure a 2-0 home success over Petersfield Town. Third in the table Egham Town took a fifth minute lead but had to settle for a 1-1 home draw when Beaconsfield SYCOB levelled on the half hour while Aylesbury were held to a 0-0 draw at home by Northwood but AFC Rushden & Diamonds lost 1-0 when hosts Godalming Town scored soon after the hour mark. Potters Bar Town, a goal up at the interval, conceded an equaliser early in the second half but struck again within three minutes to win 2-1 at home against Barton Rovers but Uxbridge twice trailed before taking a point from a 2-2 draw at Aylesbury United while Arlesey Town recovered from going a goal down to complete a 4-1 home win against Fleet Town.
Division One South & West Leaders Cinderford Town scored nine minutes into the second half to secure a 1-0 home win over
Larkhall Athletic but meanwhile second placed North Leigh, three up at the interval, added to the growing number of goals conceded by bottom club Bashley when they scored five more in the second half to complete a resounding 8-0 away win but third in the table Winchester City had to recover from going behind just after the half hour to win 2-1 at home against Shortwood United with two second half strikes. Bishops Cleeve took a first minute lead and scored again three minutes before the interval to win 2-0 at Slimbridge while Yate Town, a goal down at the break, slipped to a 3-1 defeat to Wimborne Town and Bridgwater Town, ahead at half time from an eighth minute own goal, completed a comfortable 4-1 home success over Burnham which helped them climb out of the bottom two where they were replaced by Wantage Town who, having gone behind on the stroke of half time, crashed to a 4-0 home defeat when AFC Totton struck three times in twenty second half minutes.
FA Trophy Second Round Qualifying Action Bideford conceded two goals in three minutes to trail at half time but booked a place in the next round when they completed a 3-2 home win over Brentwood Town with a strike eight minutes from time while Weymouth, who had conceded an equaliser after twenty five minutes, opened up a two goal interval lead and went on to win 4-1 at Bedford Town and Frome Town, behind after just five minutes, recovered to go through with a 2-1 home success over Slough Town. Marlow scored after twenty-one minutes to defeat visiting Mangotsfield United 1-0 while Hungerford Town, having conceded an own goal nine minutes after taking the lead soon after the break, secured a 2-1 win at St Neots Town with a goal thirteen minutes from the end and Chesham

United, behind after seventeen minutes but level on the half hour, recorded a hard earned 3-2 victory at Swindon Supermarine whereas Cirencester Town took a fourth minute lead and, although conceding an equaliser before the interval, went on to win 2-1 at Tonbridge Angels. Dorchester Town, ahead from a fourth minute own goal but trailing at the break, scored eight minutes from time to secure a 2-2 home draw with Kingstonian and Hitchin Town, trailing at half time, also benefited from an own goal with eighteen minutes to go to secure a 1-1 draw at Haringey Borough while Leamington were held to a 0-0 draw by visiting Rushall Olympic. Having drawn level, Stratford Town conceded an own goal four minutes before the break to go down 2-1 at Ashton United while Tiverton Town, a goal down at the interval, crashed out 5-0 at East Thurrock United and Evesham United, trailing at the break, equalised ten minutes into the second half but lost 2-1 at home when Spennymoor Town scored with fourteen minutes remaining. Kettering Town, a goal down after five minutes, conceded twice in the second half to crash out 3-0 at home to Burscough while Taunton Town made a perfect start when they went ahead in the second minute but Isthmian Premier Division Bognor Regis Town scored two goals in three minutes to lead at the interval before going on to complete a comprehensive 4-1 away win but Kings Lynn Town, a goal behind after eight minutes, could not cope with their hosts and went out 5-1 at Nantwich Town and Royston Town conceded a first minute penalty and went further behind after fifteen minutes before eventually going out 4-2 at Tilbury. Merthyr Town’s tie at Hastings was abandoned at half time owing to heavy rain with the visitors two goals ahead but down to ten men.

We have already catered for Toddler groups, Zumba classes, Weight watchers meetings etc and can now extend this to day time hire. We have ample parking and easy access.
