This afternoon we extend a warm welcome to everyone connected to Boldmere St Michael’s Football Club and we hope you enjoy our hospitality here with us this afternoon ”.

It’s good to be back on home soil, in front of our own fans and a match where, although nothing is settled with the result, three points today would be very welcome as we are currently just two points above the dreaded drop zone and at the same time, just six points outside the playoff positions. This really is a crazy division where, on their day, everyone can beat everyone else so it’s vitally important that we maximise our home advantage, especially after picking up an extremely good point on the road at Loughborough Students on the day that Goffy celebrated his one hundredth consecutive appearance with another clean sheet.

Back to today and I expect another tough test from our visitors who haven’t enjoyed the best of starts to the season and currently occupy a relegation spot so let’s hope we start on the front foot this week and don’t set ourselves an uphill battle.

As ever, your fantastic backing can be the difference between a win or a loss so play your part off the pitch and hopefully come 5pm we will be celebrating a well deserved victory

Last Saturday’s game ended 0–0 away at Loughborough Students, and I want to start by acknowledging the incredible effort from the lads. Coming away with a point was a good result, especially considering the circumstances. We were missing a few key players, and several had to step into unfamiliar roles, but they stood tall and gave everything for the team.

I couldn’t have been prouder of how they adapted and battled for each other under tough conditions. There was real discipline and togetherness throughout the game — something we’ll look to build on going forward.

Performances like that show the character and spirit we have in this squad. We’re all in it together, and we’ll keep pushing for results as a team.

I also want to take a moment to thank our fantastic supporters. We had a great travelling contingent at Loughborough last weekend, and the players and staff really appreciate your backing — home or away. It makes such a difference. Your passion and dedication never go unnoticed and we’re working hard to deliver the results you deserve.

BOLDMERE ST MICHAELS (the Mikes) Year founded: 1883 Chairman: Rob Mallaband Club Website: www.boldmerestmichaelsfc.co.uk GOOD AFTERNOON AND A WELCOME TO THE PREMIER PLUS STADIUM TO BOLDMERE ST MICHAELS FOR THEIR SECOND VISIT Their first visit was three seasons ago when we played our previous season in the Midlands Division of the Northern League. Here at St Neots our visitors recorded a 2-0 victory and then in the return match they won 5-1 with Robbie Mason scoring the goal which was to prove the only goal our lads scored that season in five league visits to Birmingham! Boldmere is a suburb and residential area of Sutton Coldfield in the city of Birmingham. At present they are searching for their form having won just four of their seventeen completed matches and currently standing in 21st position of the league table having lost their last six league matches. Their four victories have come at home to Coleshill and away at Rugby Town, Anstey Nomads and Bedworth. Like ourselves they also drew away at Loughborough Students. Last season they finished 16th in the Northern Premier League Division One Midlands with thirteen wins and eight draws from their 40 matches. In the FA Cup this season they were beaten 4-1 at home in the Extra Preliminary Round by Step Five club Abbey Hulton United who based in Stoke on Trent and are members of the Midland League Premier Division. They also made an early exit from the FA Trophy beaten 1-0 in the First Round Qualifying by Stafford Rangers who play in the West Division of the Northern Premier League. However, last season in the Birmingham Senior Cup they defeated Wolverhampton Wanderers at home 2-1 before losing away 2-1at Tamworth in the Third Round.

CLUB WELFARE OFFICER GEMMA KEECH My name is Gemma Keech and I am the Club Welfare Officer (CWO) for St Neots Town Football Club.

Each football club that offers youth and open aged football is required to have a Club Welfare Officer. I am responsible for ensuring the wellbeing of the children, young people and vulnerable adults who attend the club, whether that be within the Academy or players aged Under 18 in the First Team.

My role is to be the first point of contact for all club members and parents / carers regarding concerns for the welfare of anyone within the club that fall within this group.

St Neots Town Football Club have appointed me to this voluntary role because of my employment roles in Education and Children’s Social Care, and therefore my knowledge and experience in Safeguarding and Child Protection.

My aim to be an approachable person for young people and their parents or carers, as well as club members, where issues or concerns may arise. These issues may range from worries about not fitting in or feeling left out, an individual dangerous incident or situation, other adult or young persons’ behaviour or more serious allegations against another person, volunteer, member or professional at the Club.

A spectacular free kick goal in the seventh minute of added time saw St Neots fall to their fourth home defeat of the season after they had clawed back a first half deficit. It was the second Saturday in a row that they had conceded a first half goal, and the eventual outcome was another defeat which saw them slip down to fifteenth in the league table. Mickleover’s late winning goal was controversial for it came from a harshly awarded free kick that saw St Neots’ skipper and Manager both booked for their protests but the free kick that followed was a goal worthy of the result – bent over and around the defensive wall. St Neots had made one enforced team change with striker Rhys Thorpe unavailable and into his place for his first start came James Stainsby who was to go on to mark his debut with a goal.

The first half threatened to be a non-event with no real serious goalmouth action in the first half hour. Both defences looked comfortable and apart from one visiting attack when James Goff pushed away an Andy Dales curling effort after nine minutes and at the other end five minutes later when Andrian Ankrah shot straight at the visiting keeper, there was little significant action of note. Then Josiah Dyer beat the offside trap wide on the right and cut in to beat Goff with a low shot into the far corner of the net after 30 minutes to put the visitors ahead. Another Mickleover shot was deflected and landed on the roof of the St Neots net and just before the break the lively Harvey Williams cut in to beat two players only to be upended by Jake Bennett earning the visiting player a yellow card.St Neots had showed little penetration on the visiting defence despite sharing possession, because too many of their forward passes were hopeful rather than accurate and were easily mopped up by the visitors.

However, after the break St Neots were more purposeful. From a Murphy Culkin corner Kieran Barnes saw a shot cleared off the line by a visiting defender after 52 minutes, and sixty seconds later St Neots were level when a curling Williams shot was cleared off the line but only as far as James Stainsby who claimed his first St Neots goal to level the scores.

MATCH REPORT Mickleover FC (H) 25 October 2025 Two minutes after the goal Connor Furlong cut in from the right to see his effort blocked by a defender and then up for a Culkin corner, defender Charlie Bowen headed narrowly over the bar.The visitors then introduced two substitutes to boost their flagging attack, and it had the effect of pushing St Neots back on the defensive. With the match moving into its final ten minutes the visiting side seemed to grasp back the initiative, and Jake Bennett squandered a chance shooting wide when left unmarked on the right. Two late free kick conceded just outside the penalty area by St Neots were the feature of the late stages which included eight minutes added time. As the clock ticked down Dales sent the first free kick over the bar but the second by Archie White proved to be the matchwinner.

St Neots goalkeeper James Goff celebrated his 100th consecutive appearance for the side with a clean sheet in a hard fought away draw that Manager Cameron Mawer declared himself as ‘chuffed to bits for the lads’. He had to name his side with four players missing – two suspended, one injured and one unavailable at a venue where the host side had only been beaten once so far this season. It was a tightly fought contest with the respective defences largely in control and St Neots can be pleased that their depth of strength of squad proved capable of competing against well drilled opponents. The visitors could have snatched victory with a strong finish, but a draw was a fair result for both sides. Coming into the revamped visiting side Jessi Obeng worked hard before suffering an injury and Eniola Agemoh-Davies settled in quickly and was one of the visitors’ most penetrating attacking players. With Charlie Bowen and Harvey Henderson back from suspension and available for the next home match, the Manager will have to make an interesting choice of selection.

Both sides began cautiously with James Goff comfortable saving an early header from Ben Royall and skipper Robbie Parker replying for the visitors with a shot from a Kieran Barnes corner, saved a full length by home keeper Leo Webster. As the match settled St Neots created a couple of further chances with Barnes seeing a fierce shot from a Murphy Culkin corner deflected wide of target and Connor Furlong had a shot blocked by a defender. Then after 27 minutes a midfield error presented the ball to the home side and freed up Connor Keane who went clear to bring a fine full length save from Goff at the expense of a corner. Hussein Issa then shot over the bar after neat play by Royall and the first half ended with Culkin joining the visiting attack to beat the last defender but dragging his low effort just wide of the far post.

After the break Keane produced a fierce free kick from 25 yards that Goff was pleased to push away and then just before the hour St Neots best move of the match almost produced a goal.

MATCH REPORT Loughborough Students (A) 01 November 2025 Jessi Obeng won the ball in midfield and freed Furlong wide on the right and his cross found the head of Rhys Thorpe who forced home keeper Webster to push the ball over the crossbar at full stretch. In a breakaway attack Marcus Gilpin tested Goff at his near post and then Obeng was injured and replaced by Pharrell Anderson. A Culkin lengthy throw evaded players in the packed penalty area and Jonty Bouch did well to clear off the goal line and then after 77 mins a Furlong effort was deflected for a corner by Harry Twite. In the final ten minutes St Neots increased the pressure on the home defence and Harvey Williams went past three defenders only to see Webster save with his feet. The home side made a late substitution to relieve the pressure on their defence and both sides had late breakaway attacks nullified as the points were shared.

St Neots Manager Matt Clements saw this result as two points lost rather than one gained after his side had finished strongly in a closely fought match with league newcomers Tamworth.It was the return to the Premier Plus Stadium of visitors’ Manager Dennis Greene who oversaw St Neots progress from Step Five to Step Three in successive seasons, as well as a late cameo substitute appearance for former charismatic goalscoring hero Stefan Moore.Sadly, the result only served to underline St Neots lack of league goalscoring power for they have now only managed to score nine times in thirteen league outings despite having found the back of the net fifteen times in eight cup matches. The match also featured the return to the defence of Taylor Parr after missing the last two matches with injury and there was a one hundredth senior appearance for utility player Tom Wood moved into midfield for this match to accommodate Parr, with Matt Miles left on the substitutes bench.Tamworth relegated to this level from the National League at the end of last season cherish ambitions of a return to Step Two this season but on this showing, they are some way short of achieving that aim.

Although first half play was end to end neither side had the finishing to seriously test their opponents’ goal in the opening stages. Aman Verma sent Tamworth’s first shot after eight minutes towards goal, but Harry Reynolds saved comfortably. Tom Wood then headed wide from a Johnny Herd corner and the match was becoming competitive in midfield with two visiting players booked for fouls in the opening 25 minutes. An ambitious overhead bicycle kick by Nabil Shariff flew over the bar whilst at the other end after 32 minutes, Gregg Smith did get the ball in the St Neots net, but the Referee had blown for an infringement. Tamworth were enjoying the greater share of possession but St Neots back line looked confident and sound and goalkeeper Reynolds did not have a serious save to make. His counterpart was also untroubled in the first half although Ben Worman saw a shot blocked and both Ryan Beswick and Tyrell Waite sent their efforts wide of target at the other end.

The visitors stated the second half well with Waite weaving his way past two defenders to test Reynolds at his near post and in a bid to boost his teams’ fortunes Dennis Greene made two early second half substitutions but to little effect.Visiting keeper Jas Singh was then forced into a serious save to deny Dion Sembie-Ferris and St Neots also made a change with Claudio Ofosu replacing Worman. Midway through the second half St Neots though they should have been awarded a penalty when Dylan Williams picked up a pass from Devante Stanley and burst into the penalty area to be upended but the Referee judged that the St Neots player had illegally dived, and he was booked for simulation. Further substitutions followed as the sides sought late inspiration in a bid to find a winning goal and it was St Neots who came closest to breaking the deadlock. With nine minutes left the best team move of the match saw Dion Sembie-Ferris and Nabil Shariff open up the visiting defence and when the latter went clear his shot beat the visiting keeper but narrowly skimmed the angle of bar and post. Four minutes later substitute Ofosu beat his marker on the edge of the area to send Stanley clear on the right and his searching low cross from the bye line was only inches from conversion by Shariff. After this burst of St Neots pressure it was left to Stanley to save the day in added time with a timely interception to rob Waite in front of an open goal.

ANDYSMANCLUB is a free peer-to-peer group that provides a place for men to come together in a safe and open environment to talk about the issues or problems that they have faced or are currently facing.

ANDYSMANCLUB meet every Monday at 7pm (excluding Bank Holiday Mondays).

The process is about bringing men together who have been in similar situations, to help each other on a peer to peer basis, sharing how they have dealt with various situations through lived experiences. No matter how big or small your problem feels, we are here to support each other. The 5 questions that are asked each week are designed not only to encourage men to talk, but to start to focus on the positives and on strategies to keep moving forward. There is no pressure to answer any of the questions and it is not uncommon for men to just listen for the first few sessions. The clubs all run on the same format and adhere to the same guidelines. A key principle of ANDYSMANCLUB is anything that is said in the club, stayswithinthe club.

Opponent Spotlight BOLDMERE ST MICHAEL’S FC

The club was established in 1883 as a youth football team attached to the local church and soon progressed from playing friendlies against other church sides to playing competitive league football. As the boys outgrew youth football, they organised an open-age team, which played in various local leagues. In the 1947-48 season, they reached the semi-finals of the FA Amateur Cup, losing 2-0 to Barnet in front of 27,000 at Highbury. In 1949, the club joined the Birmingham & District League.

During the 1950s the club's fortunes declined somewhat, as they resolved to remain staunchly amateur at a time when their rivals were becoming semi-professional. In 1963 the club moved leagues to the Worcestershire Combination, which became the Midland Football Combination and now the Midland Football League, where they were to remain for thirty years.

The most successful period was during the 1980/90s when they claimed the championship on three occasions (1985/86 under John Morris) and 1988/89 and 1989/90 plus two league cup triumphs in 1989/90 (the double) and 1990/91 (under Alan Parsons).

This level of success saw the Mikes become founder members of the Midland Football Alliance in 1994 (formed from the Midland Combination), where they played until 2013-14, generally finishing in the top half of the table.

The club has won the Walsall Senior Cup on five occasions 1986/87 (under John Morris), 2005/06, 2006/07, 2007/08 (under Mick Bayley) and 2018/19 (under Stuart Grosvenor).

In the final season of the Midland Football Alliance, 2013-14 the club achieved its best position of runners-up (under Stuart Grosvenor). The Mikes were the only club to play in all twenty seasons in the Midland Football Alliance, reaching the league cup final twice in that time losing on both occasions to Market Drayton Town and Stratford Town In 2014-15 they became founding members of the Midland Football League Premier Division, scoring the first goal in the new competition in a 9-1 opening day win at Rocester.

The most exciting chapter in the club’s history took place in 2016 with a total stadium refurbishment and installing the latest artificial turf pitches, including two new floodlit courts for training and small-sided matches. Then Vice-Chairman Ralph Simmons (now Chairman) was the driving force in this major change. The project was funded primarily by private investment to secure the club's future by investing in junior teams from age seven upwards

Opponent Spotlight BOLDMERE ST MICHAEL’S FC

The Junior section was awarded the FA Charter Standard and made its first move into Saturday Development football with two Midland Junior Premier League teams for 2017-18. The club has also been awarded Wildcats status as an FA-affiliated centre for girls’ football.

2017-18 also saw the launch of two new senior teams. Our brand-new Academy in partnership with BMet (Sutton College) saw our BTEC students enter the National League Under 19 Youth Alliance, with the club also introducing an Under 21 team to bridge the gap to first-team football, playing in the MFL Under 21 Division. In season 2023/24 the Under 21 team finished as runners up to Kidderminster Harriers losing just two games all season.

The Junior section now has eight teams competing in the Midland Junior Premier League and two Under 18 sides playing in the Midland Floodlit Youth League. In all the club has over sixty teams playing on Saturdays or Sundays. (this includes Seniors, Juniors and Women’s teams) The Women’s team at the club won the National League Division 1 (Midlands) in 2021/22 and played in the National League Northern Premier Division in 2022/23.

Unfortunately, they had a disappointing time and finished second last so the 2023/24 season saw the team competing back in the National League Division 1 (Midlands) where they finished in fourth place. A new manager, former Wolves star Karl Henry has been appointed and a new push for promotion will be expected The floodlights installed circa 1990 were upgraded due to the generosity of the Sutton Coldfield Town Council and a new dressing room block incorporating Hospitality and Boardroom facilities was brought into full use during the 2021/22 season.

The clubhouse was refurbished in 2019 and the old dressing rooms have also been revitalised introducing a junior recreation area, offices and a sensory room. The club shop was resited from the new block to give internal access via the clubhouse. The shop’s original location was turned into the kit/laundry room.

Managerial changes at the club are few. Current President Alan Parsons, a John Morris signing in 1987, held the hot seat for 16 years following Morris’ departure to Halesowen Town; Rob Mallaband, the current Treasurer had two spells split by Mick Bayley’s three-year reign, whilst Stuart Grosvenor’s tenancy lasted six seasons. In early September 2019, the club Board decided a change of football manager was required and following great interest were delighted to appoint former player Neil Kitching along with his assistants Nick Amos and Ian Cooper to the hot seat. Taking over with the club in the lower reaches of the table, the management improved matters as the season progressed and were in a healthy position before COVID struck the country. Their efforts were finally rewarded in the 2021/22 season when a second-placed finish saw them win a promotion/relegation playoff game at Chalfont St Peter 4-0 and gain promotion to Step 4 (Northern Premier League Midlands Division)

In the debut season the final placing of ninth was a disappointment as the club had occupied fourth or fifth place throughout the season and looked to have secured a play-off place. Injuries plus defeats in the last three matches proved the undoing.

The highlight of the campaign was the ‘double’ over promotion favourites Halesowen Town (they went through via the play-offs). After a summer that saw six players depart to local rivals Sutton Coldfield Town a mixed start to the 2023/24 eventually saw The Mikes finish in 13th position in the table although a last day win would have seen a 9th place finish, similar to the inaugural season in the NPL. The 2024/25 saw a greater emphasis on younger players whilst the managerial structure remained unchanged. In fact, shortly after Christmas, Manager Neil Kitching and his team resigned and subsequently moved en bloc to Stafford Rangers.

After temporary spells as acting Managers by Sam Heath and Ben Roberts, the latter was offered the job permanently. He brought in Charlton Davies and Robbie Banks to assist him. After flirting in the lower reaches of the table a final position of 16th was obtained. The close season has seen the capture of several experienced players whilst former assistant Manager Trevor Burroughs has joined the coaching staff along with Mac Simner who joins up as goalkeeping coach.

ST NEOTS TOWN FC 1982/83 SEASON This is the tenth in the series highlighting one of our final seasons at Shortsands to depict both the highs and the lows in the recent proud history of the Club. This was our only season in UCL Division One having been relegated from the Premier Division. As you would expect with largely an unchanged squad, we were one of the stronger teams at that level and successfully won promotion back to Step Five. However, we did not take the championship, being pipped by three points by Raunds Town who returned to the top division after 22 seasons either in Division One or Division Two. We lost all four Cup games played! Even so, we rewrote the record books losing only four times in the league – the equal lowest number in the top two divisions and had the best defensive record of the 53 UCL sides (including Reserve sides) conceding only 24 goals – goalkeeper Barry Cavilla (33 out of 34 games played).

No player recorded a hat trick with the goals shared around between ten players and we were unbeaten at home in the league – won 12 drew 3 lost 0. We recorded only three league ‘doubles’ – with all of our four league defeats coming in Northamptonshire.

Our Cup campaign was disastrous – played 4 – lost 4 – but three of those were against higher graded sides and our application for FA Cup membership was refused. However, the Reserve team brought some cup joy – winning the Scott Gatty Cup beating the first teams of Offord and Godmanchester and the Reserve teams of St Ives and Eynesbury.

The Reserve team played six more league matches than the senior side and finished 15th out of 19 – two places below Eynesbury Rovers Reserves.

The top goal scorer was Guy Loveday with 16 goals followed by Steve Galbraith with 11, The Manager was Roger Currington – his final year with the Club.

Jake Allen Jake is a product of Mike’s youth set up and is a defender. He joins Mikes’ squad after time at Smethwick Rangers.

Jayden Bailey-Hunter Jayden joins Mikes for the 2025-26 season after a successful stay at Stafford Town FC. He is a striker.

Kye Billingham-Belle Formerly of Sutton Coldfield Town and Youth, Kye has joined Mikes for season 202526 where he will be playing in midfield.

Kye Bilton Kye is a defender who came to Mikes for the remainder of 2024-25 season on a work experience loan from Burton Albion but is now a registered player for season 202526 Zachary Binns Zach, who is a left back, came to Mikes in March 2025 from Sutton Coldfield Town but has more recently been playing for Sutton United.

Jonathan Brown Jono moved across town from Sutton Coldfield Town to become first choice goalkeeper at Mikes for 2024-25 George Cleet George joined Mikes for season 2024-25 after a couple of seasons at Highgate United.

He is a central defender who has previous experience at Halesowen Town and Sutton Coldfield Town.

Freddie Cockerell Previously a prominent player for Mikes Youth set up, Freddie returns to the club to sign for the senior squad after a spell at AFC Wulfrunians. Freddie is a striker.

Kaireice Cunningham Kai has joined Mikes for 2025-26 after playing previously for Chasetown FC. He is a wide midfielder.

Player Profiles BOLDMERE ST MICHAEL’S FC

Red Simmons Red has worked his way right through from U8 to U21 at Mikes. He has been playing regularly for Smethwick Rangers and has made first team appearances too. He is an attacking full back.

Danny Wood Danny is another product of Mikes’ youth set up. After playing for the U21 team he has also been playing for Smethwick Rangers Harry Wakefield Harry is a Forward and joined the Mikes recently, having played last season for Coventry Sphinx and Hinckley Leicester Road.

Taylor Dodd Taylor came through the Youth system at Birmingham City. He is a Defender.

Aris Christophorou Aris is an experienced defender who has previously played at this level with Sutton Coldfield Town.

Constantine Panayiotou Constantine has recently joined the Mikes. He came through the Youth system at Coventry City and is a forward.

Connor Armstrong Connor joined us this season from Rushall Olympic and is a midfielder.

Morgan Davage Morgan is a product of Mikes Youth section. He was missing for some time due to university commitments and was playing for Pilkington in the North West Counties League. He is back at Mikes for the 2025-26 season and rejoins manager, Ben Roberts with whom he had his success at youth level.

Frankie Ealing Frankie came to Mikes from Aberystwyth Town of the Welsh Premier League.

Released by Aston Villa in summer 2024, he is a midfielder Ben George Ben made the move to Mikes from local rivals Sutton Coldfield Town for the 2021-22 season. He is a right back who likes to get up the field and will support the midfield when the opportunities arise Jordan Gough Jordan comes to Mikes from Quorn FC but has had many clubs at step 2 and 3 throughout his career. He is playing at left back.

Matt Greenway Matt has recently rejoined Boldmere after studying outside the UK. Matt is a product of the BSM Youth system.

Charlie Manners Charlie joined Mikes in October 2024 after previously playing for Walsall Wood. He had previous experience at Coventry City’s academy.

Danny O’Callaghan Danny joins Mikes for 2025-26 after a long and distinguished career at local clubs.

After starting out at Castle Vale FC he had long spells at Sutton Coldfield Town and Chasetown. He is a midfielder with an eye for a goal.

Nathan Oyemade Nathan joined Mikes in December 20from Shifnal Town after earlier playing for Sporting Khalsa and Bewdley Town. He is a midfielder.

Pierre Phillips Pierre ascended to the senior squad for 2024-25 season after a fine spell in Mikes U21 team. He is a central defender and gives the squad extra stability in that area.
