Students are required to take one Political Science course identified as a seminar course. The seminar course may be taken either as a Distribution Course or an Elective Course.

Students must also maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 in their political science major course of study.

The Washington Center Internship Program This internship program gives students the opportunity to intern in Washington D.C. while networking within the Capital and earning Saint Peter’s credit. Positions are available across government, businesses, think tanks, and interest groups. The Political Science department guides and supervises students from all majors through the application process.

Model United Nations Program Our students can enhance their international relations and comparative politics skills through the Harvard Model UN Program. Our students meet with delegations from around the globe in Boston to serve as the diplomatic representatives of a UN member state and negotiate current global issues.

The Social Justice Program The Social Justice Program offers a multi-disciplinary minor that emphasizes social justice, non violence and peacemaking, and the peace and justice teachings of the world’s faith traditions.

Social Justice students can attend a number of workshops and lectures, service projects, and seminars. Also, Social Justice minors can work in the Fr Coman Brady-Marc DiNardo Social Justice Garden to practice the work of earth stewardship and justice.

Our Alumni Our Political Science graduates go on to a number of different fields. From members of Congress and judges to journalists and activists, there is no limit to where a Saint Peter’s Political Science degree can take you.

Politics Everyday The Political Science department is dedicated to developing students to be knowledgeable on past and current political issues. In addition to teach-ins, lecture series, panel discussions, and off-campus trips, we encourage students to be informed and registered voters. The student organization, Project Vote, is a great way for students to gain leadership roles and build marketable skills for future careers.

Preparation for Law School Students interested in attending law school, can work with the University’s Pre-Law Advisor to prepare for the application process, course of studies, and the professional practice of law.

The Master of Public Administration (MPA) Program The MPA program prepares students for rewarding and high-impact careers in government, nonprofits, international institutions, and the private sector. In the program, students learn the management and leadership skills needed to design and implement real world solutions to the world’s biggest problems.
