Whether your medium is canvas or camera, you’ll be inspired and guided to create. Students visit art galleries, museums, auction houses, and public art spaces; meet leading curators, artists, photographers, and designers; and gain professional experiences through internships in thriving creative industries and great cultural institutions of NYC.
Metropolitan Seminars Saint Peter’s offers a number of Metropolitan Seminars for you to take advantage of the artistic vibrancy of the New York metropolitan area. These courses take you to Broadway and Off Broadway theatre, the great musical venues of the city, diverse art museums in and around Manhattan, famous cultural centers, new film releases and so much more. Art History Expand your knowledge of the history of art from antiquity to the present, including specialized thematic and period studies. Emphasis is on a contextual approach combining information from the fields of art, history, cultural and material studies, philosophy and literature.

Fine Arts Develop your skills in drawing, painting, sculpture, graphic arts, photography along with elements of music. Gain exposure to traditional skill sets and build a solid foundation in theory, history, philosophy and culture. Graphic Arts We prepare students to be Graphic Artists in a Digital World by developing a deeper understanding of effective design from conception to final mockups using digital design tools. Understanding advanced design concepts with cutting edge technologies, students learn skills that will make them marketable for jobs in some of the fastest growing areas of the next generation of digital design such as: mobile app design, user experience design (UX), web design, animation, augmented reality (AR) and digital publishing. Visual Arts The Visual Arts major has students develop their hand along with the technical skills and design eye needed for a range of careers in the creative fields. Courses stress the aesthetic and practical concepts at the heart of good design across different media, introducing courses that range from charcoal drawing to working within the Adobe suite.

Music A music minor is a great option for students passionate about music but want to major in another program. The Music minor increases students’ understanding of the art of music and offers courses in piano, singing and music history. Theater Arts This program is designed for students to engage in advanced study of Theater Arts and to experiment broadly in the making of theater.
Concentrations Photography Students work in both traditional photographic film and Adobe Photoshop for digital techniques to gain an understanding of design, composition, light and color—required skills for visually compelling and moving aesthetics and artistic creativity in contemporary photo imaging.
