Saint Joseph Academy Selected as The CSPJ Bishop Richard Lennon Award Recipient Saint Joseph Academy has been unanimously selected as the inaugural recipient of The CSPJ Bishop Richard Lennon Award. The award is a sign of gratitude for service to the Diocese of Cleveland and inspiration to its schools.

Junior Parents: Letters for Kairos Retreatants Due April 4 Help your daughter get the most out of her Kairos Retreat on April 6, 7 and 8 by praying for her and writing a letter expressing how much she means to you. Letters from other family members are welcomed as well.

Deadline for submitting letters is Tuesday, April 4. Email letters here, mail to the CORE Ministry Dept. Chair Ms. Alison Barberic's attention or drop off in the Main Office. If mailing or dropping off the letters, please make sure the outside of the envelope has your daughter's first and last name on it and mark it with "Parent Letter."

Win Tickets to See Author John Green!

Author John Green, of The Fault in Our Stars and Papertowns, star of Crash Course videos and social media giant will be at Case Western Reserve University as a part of the Cuyahoga County Public Library's Writers' Center Stage Series on Wednesday, May 3. Tickets for the event are sold out, but the Nazareth Library has four tickets (two pairs).

You can enter to win these tickets by creating a 2-3 minute video or audio recording about your personal connection to reading. Share your story with Library/Media Center Department Chair Mrs. Rebecca Synk by Wednesday, April 5. The top two submissions will win the tickets.

Save the Date for Our Spring Musical: Songs For a New World

Join Saint Joseph Academy for a theatrical song cycle exploring the moment of decision! The Spring musical presentation of Songs For a New World will be performed Thursday, April 6, Friday, April 7 and Saturday, April 8 at 7:30 p.m. and a matinee on Sunday, April 9 at 2:30 p.m.

Name: Juliana (Juli) Howe '18 Accomplishments: At the Kalahari Classic with the VEX Robotics Competition, Juli Howe '18 participated in building a specialized robot for bonus scoring and her robot climbed a pole and hung 13 inches above the ground.

She achieved bonus scoring in 7 of her 8 matches.

"Being in Robotics allows students to discover engineering techniques involved in building a robot.

The design process starts the school year before the competition, then during the summer, prototypes are built and we test our theories. After this, the actual robot we plan on competing with is built and make changes in our idea along the way. During the process, we log our thought process and build in a notebook that the judges evaluate at the competition. It took me 30 hours to build the first draft of my robot," shared Juli Howe '18.

Activities & Interests: Juli is a peer tutor, an employee of the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, and she will soon be inducted into the National Honors Society.

Tickets are $12 for reserved seats, $10 for general admission and $5 for students and seniors.

Join Us for An Evening of Spiritual Reflection Mothers, please join us for an evening of prayerful conversation and camaraderie.

Our annual "An Evening of Reflection for Women" takes place on Monday, April 10 and gathers a wonderful group of women together to share their insights, unique experiences and real life questions about spirituality and faith. Friends are welcome.

Spring Open House Do you have friends or family members that want to learn more about all the wonderful things students are experiencing at Saint Joseph Academy? Mother-Daughter Eucharist and Brunch Next Month Please join us on Sunday, April 23 for the Mother-Daughter Eucharist and Brunch. The event will take place in the Academy Center with doors opening at 9:30 a.m. Mass begins at 10 a.m. with brunch immediately following.

College Corner Save the Date: Spring Scholarship Luncheon School: Kalamazoo College Location: Kalamazoo, MI 4 hours from Cleveland Suburban (outside a small city) Enrollment: 1,300 undergraduates

Sports Highlights Lacrosse Opens Season at Walsh Jesuit The lacrosse team began their season on

Monday night as the Jaguars took on the Walsh Jesuit Warriors.

Strongest Programs: Biology/Health Science Psychology, English, Economics Fun Facts: Many freshmen begin the year with a "land/sea adventure," which includes three weeks of climbing, rappelling, canoeing and backpacking in the mountains of Canada. kzoo.edu

The JV Jaguars defeated the Warriors 9-8

The JV Jaguars came away with a dramatic 9-8 win to open their season. Cassidy Dalton '20 scored with 12 seconds left in the game to give the Jaguars the victory.

The varsity team fell to Walsh Jesuit 14-2.

Softball to Play in Rubber City Rivalry Series The softball team will participate in the Rubber City Rivalry Series as the Jaguars take on the Blue Streaks at Firestone Stadium. The game will be played on Monday, April 24 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available at the stadium box office and $3 for adults and $1 for students.
