This year, there are more program offerings for girls entering grades 3-5. There is a lot for younger campers to explore in our Art, Makerspace innovation lab and Lacrosse programs. Additionally, campers can improve overall athletic skills while learning about sportsmanship and wellness in our new Junior Jaguar All-Stars camp!

Whether their interests are sports, yoga, inventing, cooking, STEAM or health sciences, campers will have fun learning from our talented facilitators, coaches and current students.

Formula of Sports is new to our athletic offerings for girls entering grades 7 and 8. Led by our assistant athletic director and SJA studentathlete captains, this program will teach campers how to create team chemistry and develop leadership skills for the playing field and beyond. SJA Stars! is back by popular demand! Girls who love to perform will take center stage at our musical theater camp as they explore the creative process of preparing for a musical production. Singing, dancing and acting techniques will be taught through a variety of games and exercises. 3

Saint Joseph Academy Summer Enrichment Program (SEP) cultivates scholastic, social and cultural enrichment opportunities for girls entering seventh and eighth grades for the 2022-2023 school year. Through a combination of academic, athletic, art and music opportunities, SEP creates an exciting environment that prepares girls for the challenges of high school while introducing them to their peers from an array of backgrounds. SEP is the perfect opportunity for girls to begin their journey as a Jaguar. This program is designed to keeps girls challenged, engaged and intrigued on an academic level. The hands-on curriculum allows them to explore new ideas through collaborative learning. Topics covered are taught by the Academy’s esteemed faculty. Campers represent many schools throughout the greater Cleveland area with diverse backgrounds. SEP’s focus on building relationships and creating a culture of belonging allows girls to build upon important skills such as peer-to-peer based group work, collaboration and the ability to creatively problem solve. Through this program, campers are able to experience firsthand the welcoming and supportive community Saint Joseph Academy provides to its students.

CULINARY CREATIONS June 13-17 | 8 a.m.-12 p.m. | Girls Grades 7-8 | $165
Registration Deadline: May 30, 2022 Girls will visit the West Side Market to explore its diverse offering of ingredients which will serve as inspiration for various projects throughout the week. Campers will concoct a recipe for creative writing, practice storytelling and compose free verse poetry through imaginative prompts. Confectionery treats will be made in the kitchen using chocolate molds produced on the 3D printers in the Howley Makerspace innovation lab. These hands-on experiences will help girls to understand the importance of chemistry and math in the art of cooking.
CLEVELAND ROCKS June 21-24 | 8 a.m.-1 p.m. | Girls Grades 7-8 | $165
Registration Deadline: June 7, 2022 Girls will take a field trip to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, where they will find poetry in music by analyzing their favorite tunes and be inspired to practice songwriting techniques to craft their own lyrics. Campers will experience and research the characteristic geology, as well as the “rock” sound that is unique to the Cleveland area. Girls will use the laser engraver in the Howley Makerspace innovation lab to create picture frames and key chains.
STEAM IN SPORTS June 27-July 1 | 8 a.m.-12 p.m. | Girls Grades 7-8 | $165
Registration Deadline: June 13, 2022 Does your daughter know how to calculate the speed of a softball pitch? Is she interested in how math plays an important role in sports? During this camp, girls will explore scientific principles that are used in a variety of sports and how they relate to the mechanics of the human body. Campers will learn about a variety of math concepts from calculating speed and velocity to the probabilities and percentages used in calculating athletes’ performance statistics. Girls will practice archery, visit The Foundry rowing facility, and explore the design process for sports logos and apparel while using the vinyl cutter in the Howley Makerspace innovation lab to create spirit items.

Held in Saint Joseph Academy’s new Howley Makerspace innovation lab, campers will be immersed in each of the STEAM fields (science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics) throughout the week. Girls will learn the basics of 3D design with casts and molds, laser engraving and cutting, transforming 2D designs to 3D, and virtual reality in a hands-on learning environment. The camp fosters a culture of creativity and innovation while providing space to explore technology through collaboration with new friends. This exciting camp will engage girls in summer STEAM fun!

Digital cameras will be provided for use during this camp but if campers prefer, they can bring their own digital camera or phone.

Registration Deadline: July 11, 2022 Girls who love to perform will take center stage at our musical theater camp! This camp will provide training in music and dance in the style of Broadway. Campers will incorporate singing and dance to perform selections from a variety of musical theater selections, ranging from classic to popular, modern musicals. Through this camp, girls will develop their performance style as they explore the creative process of preparing for a musical through theater games, vocal coaching and dance techniques. The program will culminate in a star-studded performance on the final day for family and friends.

Registration Deadline: June 13, 2022 Team chemistry is just as important for athletes as skill and practice no matter the sport played. Understanding chemistry is an interesting philosophical problem; creating it is a practical one. Whether it is teamwork, trust, communication, leadership or conflict resolution, girls will learn ways to create chemistry, build relationships, encourage strengths and find leadership traits that will provide guidance through each sport’s season. Saint Joseph Academy’s student-athlete captains will assist with this program.

In addition to the 2016 National Championship, Saint Joseph Academy Varsity players have been crowned State champions in 2010, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017. Girls will develop and improve core fundamentals necessary to be a competitive rugby athlete. Campers should bring cleats (soccer cleats are permitted), a water bottle and mouth guard.

Skill levels will be grouped accordingly. In 2021, the Jaguar softball team became District Champions for the second time in the Academy’s history. Numerous members of the program have gone on to play softball at the collegiate level. Girls should bring a water bottle, softball mitt and athletic footwear.
