SJA Goes Global!

To complement our academics, we are offering new camps including “SJA Goes Global!” Highlighting our wellness program is the new “Go With the Flow: Yoga and Wellness.” For budding artists, there are two new visual art camps: “Get SmART” and “Art Through the Ages.” Aspiring singers and actresses will enjoy “SJA Stars!” our musical theater camp and those that like to program, create and explore technology will use the equipment in our Makerspace innovation lab to design a range of projects in our “Girls Who Create + Code”.

Saint Joseph Academy reserves the right to cancel any summer camp due to low registration. In the event this happens families will be contaced and refunded.

All summer camps are directed by Saint Joseph Academy faculty and staff on Saint Joseph Academy’s campus unless otherwise specified.

SUMMER ENRICHMENT Program

Join us for a summer of adventure and discovery!

Saint Joseph Academy’s Summer Enrichment Program provides an educational opportunity for girls entering 7th or 8th grade, while helping prepare them for the demands of high school. This three-week camp allows girls to hone their English, Math, Science, Engineering, Social Studies and World Language skills. Campers will experience a variety of activities for practical application and enrichment. Students will work with the theme of “finding a treasure” around Cleveland by studying and conducting research on the Cleveland of yesterday and today. The curriculum includes weekly field trips, art projects, robotics, engineering projects in our Makerspace innovation lab, archery, 3D printing, laser engraving, golf and much more! Students will experience a comprehensive curriculum that supports the principles of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics).

Saint Joseph Academy is proud to partner with The Effective Leadership Academy (ELA) again to offer an innovative youth leadership program. Camp LEAD: “Fish Tank” utilizes games and outdoor team activities to encourage healthy competition and collaboration. This day camp encourages campers to focus on making a good first impression, goal-setting, time management, negotiation skills, creativity, networking, team dynamics, critical thinking, presentation skills, effective communication and the art of self-leadership. Inspired by the hit television series Shark Tank, campers will be given daily challenges that will help them learn how to pitch ideas and negotiate for success. Interactive experiences will stretch their’ personal limits, educate, empower and equip them to take away the critical success skills needed to become a leader in today’s world. A brand new Camp LEAD curriculum every year means your camper can have four years of leadership development before she even hits high school. Turn her potential into performance!

Girls Who Create AND Code July 15-19

9 a.m.-12 p.m. • Girls Grades 7-9 • $125 The Saint Joseph Academy Engineering & Design Honors Program presents an innovative summer camp where participants will program, code and create! Held in Saint Joseph Academy’s Makerspace innovation lab, campers will explore the field of science by infusing it with art, technology and engineering. During this weeklong camp, campers will explore the basics of 3D modeling and design, laser engraving, robotics designing/coding/programming and virtual reality in a hands-on learning environment.

This camp will provide a collaborative space that allows campers to explore technology, and foster a culture of creativity and innovation while collaborating with new friends.

SJA Goes Global!

July 29-August 1

8:30-11:30 a.m. • Girls Grades 5-8 • $100 Go on a digital scavenger hunt to encounter issues around the world. Campers will work together to solve these issues by being attentive and open-minded to the diversity of other cultures. Connect with others through video conferencing as guest visitors discuss the Academy’s exchange programs, trips abroad and World Languages.

Camp will end with a field trip to observe different cultural topics located in the Greater Cleveland area, including the Cleveland Cultural Gardens, Cleveland’s Asiatown and La Plaza Supermarket. Transportation provided from Saint Joseph Academy to locations and back.

Serve the Dear Neighbor July 15-19

8:30 a.m-12 p.m. • Girls Grades 7-8 • $50 This camp is offered to rising 7th and 8th grade girls interested in spending a week participating in service.

Campers will serve among a variety of populations including children, the elderly and the marginalized. This is a great way to earn service hours within your middle school and to learn how to serve the dear neighbor throughout the City of Cleveland! Maximum of 7 girls.

Transportation provided from Saint Joseph Academy to stops each day.

GoYogawithandtheWellness Flow: June 24-27

1-4 p.m. • Girls Grades 5-8 • $100 During this camp, participants will explore a variety of yoga styles with emphasis on how this practice supports issues involving peer pressure, balance emotions, dealing with stress, dynamics of school, friendship and making positive choices. Campers will attend themed yoga classes, enjoy a healthy snack, journal and meditation.

Digital Photography Beginner - June 24-28

8:30-11:30 a.m. • Girls and Boys Grades 5-8 • $120 This camp is for aspiring photographers! Digital cameras will be provided for use during this camp but if campers prefer, they can bring their own digital camera or phone.

During this fun weeklong camp, digital photography and Adobe Photoshop basics will be the focus.

Intermediate - July 22-26

8:30-11:30 a.m. • Girls and Boys Grades 5-8 • $120 Designed for photographers who have attended the Saint Joseph Academy Digital Photography Camp or have experience using a digital SLR camera. SLR cameras will be provided for use during this camp but if campers prefer, they can bring their own digital camera. During this fun weeklong camp, the beautiful college-like campus of Saint Joseph Academy will be explored while learning complex photographic processes and Adobe Photoshop methods.

The camp is perfect for those who have a passion for and some experience with photography.

9 a.m.-12 p.m. • Girls Grades 4-8 • $100 Enjoy a weeklong camp for girls that love the stage and screen! Campers will enjoy training in singing, acting and dancing using the hits of today and a few standards from yesteryear. On the last day of camp, there will be a final performance for family and friends.

Get SmART July 22-26

12-3 p.m. • Girls Grades 5-8 • $100 Explore Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) concepts while focusing on art-making. Students will explore a variety of mediums and techniques including painting, printmaking, drawing and sculpture. Camp will conclude with an art show for family and friends.

ATHLETIC CAMPS

BASKETBALL June 10-13

8:30-11 a.m. • Girls Grades 3-5 • $125 12-2:30 p.m. • Girls Grades 6-9 • $125 Develop and improve basketball skills through individual and group play, drills and contests. Sessions will focus on team play and hone skills needed as players transition to high school competition. Appropriate shoes should be worn.

VOLLEYBALL Saint Joseph Academy has competed at the State level in two of the last three seasons! Coach Latkovic has led the Jaguars to three District titles, two Regional titles, two Final Four appearances and a State title game appearance since 2015. The clinic will focus on skills, game play and give campers the experience of Jaguar volleyball.

Campers should bring knee pads, a water bottle and appropriate shoes.

CREW Crew Camp provides a positive and fun atmosphere for girls entering grades 7-9. Campers will spend the week rowing on the Cuyahoga River and use The Foundry’s state-of-the-art Community Rowing & Sailing Center. Participants will learn from members of the award-winning Saint Joseph Academy rowing team and coaching staff. All experience levels are welcome; no experience is required! Individuals will be grouped by ability and experience to provide the best environment for skill and rowing development. Swim test certification and The Foundry/USRowing waiver required.

Registered campers are responsible for their own transportation.

Girls Grades 4-9 • $125 Golfers will learn the fundamental skills of golf in a fun environment where each skill level will be improved.

Registered campers will be notified of the course locations and are responsible for their own transportation. Golf clubs are required. Golfers should also bring a water bottle and appropriate shoes.

Experience the sport of rugby from the 2016 National Champion Saint Joseph Academy Rugby team. In addition to the National Championship, Saint Joseph Academy Varsity players have been crowned State champions for five consecutive years and six times in seven seasons.

Campers will develop and improve core fundamentals necessary to be a competitive rugby athlete. Cleats (soccer cleats are permitted), a water bottle and mouth guard are required.

3-6 p.m. • Girls Grades 2-9 • $125 Learn tennis fundamentals, skills and match-play strategy for all levels. Campers will focus on ground strokes, volleys, serving and tactics for success on the court. Sessions will include drills and fun games/activities to reinforce skills players have learned. Athletic footwear and tennis racket are required. Registered campers are responsible for their own transportation.

Join current members of the Jaguar softball team at summer camp, aimed to improve all-around softball skills.

Focus will be on hitting, bunting, fielding and throwing.

In 2017, the Jaguars won an Academy record 19 games and included three members of the Class of 2017 that all went on to play collegiate softball. Registered campers are responsible for their own transportation.

9 a.m.-12 p.m. • Girls Grades 4-8 • $100 Campers will improve running techniques at all levels.

Camp is directed by Mr. Fred Kieser, Head Coach of the successful Saint Joseph Academy Cross Country team, past winner of the Cleveland Marathon and participant in the U.S. Marathon trials. Runners should bring a water bottle and appropriate shoes.

8:30-11 a.m. • Girls Grades 6-9 • $125 Learn about one of the fastest-growing sports in the country! The camp will introduce the basic skills to beginners, while also providing a more challenging environment for players with lacrosse experience. A lacrosse stick, mouth guard and goggles are required.
