Dear Saint John’s Family and Friends, THANK YOU! I am beyond grateful for your warm welcome, generosity, and countless volunteer hours throughout my first year as the Director of Development. It has been exciting for me to return to my alma mater and help give back to a school community that has given me so much. Your continued support and commitment to Saint John’s helped exceed all our goals this past fiscal year.

The Honor Roll of Donors for the 2023 fiscal year recognizes the benefactors who made a gift to Saint John’s between July 1, 2022, and June 30, 2023. These gifts contributed to the Annual Fund, scholarships, clubs, sports, and other designations.

This Honor Roll also acknowledges the support shown at our school’s annual golf tournament and our 42nd Annual Soiree. These events were a huge success in many ways, due to the numerous volunteers and fellowship of our Saint John’s community.

Class of 2023

The Saint John’s Catholic Prep Class of 2023 was comprised of 67 talented students. In addition to a 100% college acceptance rate, they were awarded more than $15.6 million in academic and athletic college scholarships. The class of

2023 will attend 42 different colleges and universities in 13 different states. Additionally, 29% of the graduates will continue their athletic careers at the NCAA level.

During their four years they earned more than 8,740 hours of community service

that demonstrated the importance of giving back.

We wish them much success as they enter their next chapter, and we look forward to seeing them in 2028 for their five-year reunion.

Special appreciation for

Leo Rocca

Leo Rocca, a former Saint John’s Board of Trustee member, has been a dedicated and loyal supporter of Saint John’s Catholic Prep for more than four decades. In May of 2008, he was awarded the Father John McElroy Founder’s Medal for outstanding service and devotion to Catholic education in Frederick County.

Mr. Rocca graciously agreed to a donor challenge for the 2023 Founder’s Day giving campaign. In order to unlock his $50,000 gift, the Saint John’s community needed to reach 120 donors and raise $10,000 in donations.

The community exceeded the challenge with 136 donors and more than $20,000 in donations. The Saint John’s community is truly blessed and grateful to have Mr. Rocca as a benefactor to our Catholic mission.

Ribbon Cutting

On Thursday, October 6, 2022, a ribbon cutting ceremony was held to celebrate the completion of Warner Stadium. Head of School, Will Knotek, addressed our generous donors who supported our Promises Campaign for the stadium. Matt and Marybeth Warner cut the ribbon and were assisted by Will Knotek, Tom Powell, Jim Plamondon, and Pat Crowley. Some of our student athletes shared their gratitude for the Warner Stadium, stating that the expansion enhances the athletic experience for every student. We are truly blessed to have so many generous donors who support our school and impact the expansion of our campus to include a state-of-the-art athletic facility. Thank you again to all who supported the Promises Campaign, and

On May 5, 2023, the Saint John’s Community came together to express gratitude for Father John McElroy, S.J., our founding father, who laid the foundation for Saint John’s and Catholic Education.

We honored him in a day of giving toward tuition assistance. The students, faculty, and staff enjoyed an afternoon of fellowship, outdoor games, and lunch from local food trucks. Thank you to all that helped us exceed our goal with 136 donors and $20,624.

AlumNI events Class of 1973 50th Class Reunion On May 25, 2023, SJCP welcomed back the Class of 1973. The day started with a welcome reception in the Great Hall and a special 50th ceremony in the Chapel where each attending graduate was recognized and blessed by Campus Chaplain Father Michael McDermott.

The Class of 1973 joined the Class of 2023 processing into the Baccalaureate Mass at St. Joseph on Carrollton Manor Catholic Church. On their way to dinner at Dutch’s Daughter, their vans took a detour past the Prospect Hall Mansion where everyone cheered three times. Throughout the evening, the class of 1973

shared their favorite stories which led to a lot of laughter and smiles. Nine classmates and their significant others attended from Maryland, Delaware, West Virginia, New Jersey, North Carolina, and Illinois.

Welcome Back 2012 and 2017

SJCP welcomed back the classes of 2012 (pictured above) and 2017 on Friday, October 28, for a happy hour followed by a Vikings vs.

Revolutions football game. Classmates enjoyed reminiscing through yearbooks, watching class slide shows, and talking with their all-time favorites Mrs. Foss and Ms. Corr. As the stories were being shared with Mr. Knotek, the Great Hall was full of laughter and good times.

Thank you to the those who attended. It was great to see how much you have accomplished. We are looking forward to seeing you all in 2027 for your 10- and 15-year reunions.

Alumni Lacrosse players came out on May 20, 2023, to Warner Stadium representing classes 2002 through 2022 to show their Viking pride. It was a gorgeous, sunny day with several quarters of play followed by a picnic social sponsored

by Roy Rogers and the SJCP varsity team parents. We are looking forward to continuing this annual event in early June of 2024.

Annual Golf Outing On Friday October 14, 2022, Saint John’s held its annual golf outing at Worthington Manor Golf Club. After weeks of cold rain, we were blessed with beautiful sunny skies. Our 110 golfers started their day with delicious Roy Rogers breakfast sandwiches and drinks from the Bloody Mary/Mimosa bar. During the day, they enjoyed the putting green contest, competing for the longest drive, cigars, orange crushes, and Chick-fil-A sandwiches.

At the conclusion of the

tournament the golfers enjoyed cocktails and a BBQ buffet while the winners were announced.
