The AFL Max Activity Day aims to extend students’ personal and social development through challenge and play. Activities such as climbing, group problem-solving and skill stations encourage students to try new experiences, set goals, and persevere. The day strengthens communication and cooperation, helping students understand the importance of encouraging others and working effectively as a team. These experiences build valuable attitudes that students carry with them back into the classroom.

The Year 4 Zoo Snooze is a highlight of the year, combining a fullday excursion with an overnight camp to enrich learning across Science, HASS, Literacy and Mathematics. Students begin at the Botanic Gardens, applying real-life mapping skills using grid coordinates to navigate and locate key features. At the Adelaide Zoo, they explore animal enclosures to analyse how design features support enrichment, wellbeing and survival. These experiences connect directly to our Inquiry central idea, ‘Living and non-living things are interconnected and dependent on each other for survival,’ as students investigate ecosystems, food chains, sustainability and human impacts. Linking this learning to Africa and South America further deepens their understanding of diverse environments.

Set in the Adelaide Hills, this experience offers students the opportunity to explore nature, challenge themselves, and grow in independence. The program is carefully designed to foster resilience and teamwork through age-appropriate challenges such as the flying fox, giant swing, raft building and freshwater life exploration. These hands-on experiences encourage students to step beyond their comfort zones, strengthen their problem-solving abilities and build confidence in a guided outdoor setting.

Participation in the Music Tour enhances student formation by promoting engagement through public performance and cultural exchange, encouraging growth through musical preparation and collaboration, and fostering belonging within the touring ensemble and the wider communities they encounter. The Co-curricular Music tour will occur every 3 to 4 years (depending on the cohort or other events occurring within the College community). The next tour will be held in Week 8 of Term 4, 2026, in Kangaroo Island. Whilst the length of the tour is dependant on location, this trip will generally last between 3 and 5 days.
To be eligible for this tour students must have been involved in the Co-curricular Music Program throughout the year of the tour. The Kairos Retreat aims to create an environment away, a moment in “God’s time”, in which the retreatants may be awakened to the ever-present love of God. Through peer ministry, retreatants experience Christian leadership, support, and community, retreatants are invited to grow in understanding of themselves and of how God can be found in all things.

Throughout the tour, students will attend professional football matches, tour world class stadiums, play friendly exhibition matches against local teams of equal skill-level, and participate in professional coaching clinics. Beyond football, students will deepen their understanding of European history and culture by visiting significant historical and cultural sites, and they will have the opportunity to strengthen their Ignatian identity through spiritual visits to Montserrat, Manresa, and walking part of El Camino. Connect 4 Program
How does it enhance Ignatian formation?
The Year 12 Connect 4 Program is four intentional days, spread across the year, where the cohort will come together to learn, reflect, and grow in companionship. This new initiative will provide meaningful touchpoints for Year 12 students as they complete their final year and prepare for the transition beyond school.
Each day of the ‘Connect 4’ program is designed around a particular theme and grounded in the Ignatian principles of cura personalis (care for the whole person) and cura apostolica (care for our shared mission). The program fosters belonging, engagement, growth, and companionship and recognises the importance of creating space for students to pause, connect, and rebuild as they journey through their final year.

Participation in the Music Tour enhances student formation by promoting engagement through public performance and cultural exchange, encouraging growth through musical preparation and collaboration, and fostering belonging within the touring ensemble and the wider communities they encounter. Students develop confidence, empathy, and a deeper appreciation for the role of music in connecting people and places.
The Co-curricular Music tour will occur every 3 to 4 years (depending on the cohort or other events occurring within the College community). The next tour will be held in Week 8 of Term 4, 2026, in Kangaroo Island. Whilst the length of the tour is dependant on location, this trip will generally last between 3 and 5 days.
To be eligible for this tour students must have been involved in the Co-curricular Music Program throughout the year of the tour. Students will express their interest in being involved in the tour and parental confirmation will be sought after this. Students should be at a reasonable level in their chosen instrument/voice type, to be able to maintain the demands of learning repertoire for a tour.

Students are invited to actively engage in one of the Senior School Co-curricular Music ensembles participating in this enriching event. Through dedicated rehearsal and performance preparation, ensemble members experience meaningful musical growth, developing both their technical skills and artistic expression. Beyond the music, students foster a strong sense of belonging as part of the touring cohort, building lasting connections and shared memories throughout the weekend.
3 days, 2 nights over a weekend (Fri-Sun) in early May (dates TBC), held at The Barn Palais and Function Centre, Mount Gambier. Accommodation is provided in Mount Gambier and surrounding areas.
Students are invited to attend this event through their participation in specific Co-curricular Music ensembles – Bellarmine Big Band, Bellarmine Vocal Ensemble, Faber Big Band, Faber Vocal Ensemble, The Manresa Combo and The Ignatius Six.
Students in these ensembles are selected exclusively from audition and sufficient notification of auditions will be given at both the beginning of the school year and the conclusion of the year previous.

Kairos Retreat

The Kairos Retreat aims to create an environment away, a moment in “God’s time”, in which the retreatants may be awakened to the ever-present love of God. Each one of us is called to fullness as a person and closer intimacy with God. Kairos seeks to proclaim and make real this relationship, as well as raise awareness of “God in all things”. Through peer ministry, retreatants experience Christian leadership, support, and community, retreatants are invited to grow in understanding of themselves and of how God can be found in all things.

Post School Opportunities
Cardoner Network
The Cardoner Network is a not-for-profit organisation, which provides opportunities for young adults to serve both locally and abroad within developing and vulnerable communities. These opportunities include:
Two Wolves Abroad This volunteer program places young people with overseas and Indigenous Australian partner communities, fully immersing them in the daily rhythm of community life. Placement periods are available for three, six, or 11 months. We also offer three week immersion opportunities to select locations. In 2026, new Old Ignatians will be travelling to Bathurst Island, Wadeye, Thailand, Cambodia, Timor Leste and Nepal. The majority of these placements will be for six months.
Wolves in Action
Bellarmine House
Wolves in Action is an Adelaide based group for young adults (18 years or older) based on self-reflection, team bonding and leadership with aims to serve the wider community, guided by Ignatian and Catholic traditions. Involvement in the group leads to many opportunities for personal growth, the forming of strong friendships, as well as service to the wider community. This group continues to grow as students partake in meaningful volunteer activities, including donating blood, helping out with St Vinnies, Christmas hampers for the Adelaide Day Centre, and a retreat.
Inspired by the sense of community and purpose experienced during immersions and volunteer placements, this shared residential community for young adults is located in the Sydney university precinct. Residents commit to up to four volunteer hours per week to serve and engage with local communities.
